Why the Owner Chose Traverse City
The lakehouse was built in 2000 by our ( Pat and Sandy's) mother on property that adjoined our previously-owned family cottage. The property has been in our family for over 50 years. In 2002 our mother passed away, leaving the house to us. We grew up spending our summers on Lake Leelanau, fishing with our dad (who passed away when we were young) and playing and swimming in the lake until our mother forced us to take a break. We had campfires with s'mores & family reunions
We've had wonderful memories on Lake Leelanau and we would like others to make memories. So we are sharing our lakehouse for you to enjoy too.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our place is less than 15 minutes into Traverse City where there are many things to do and see and is home of the National Cherry Festival, Traverse City Film Festival & Horse Show By The Bay.
The westerly breeze is nice and the water is warm for swimming. You can boat all the way through the narrows of Lake Leelanu up to Leland, Mi which has a historic fishtown. The launch is only 1/4 mile away. We are also only 35 minutes away from the Sleeping Bear National Park and sand dunes on Lake Michigan.
There you can climb the dunes, hike/bike the trails or canoe on the nearby Crystal River. Or you can just put your feet up at the lakehouse and relax and enjoy the sounds of the waves lapping the shore.
Owner's Map of Traverse City

We stayed at this beautiful lakehouse last summer, and enjoyed it very much. The location was ideal with Traverse City nearby and the quaint coastal towns along the bay to visit. The home is nicely finished and appointed. The only minor drawback was that the dishwasher is not built in, and had to be brought out of a closet to use at the kitchen sink. There was no washer and dryer either. If you are fortunate enough to stay in the upstairs master bedroom with the lakeview, you are really going to have the feeling of being on vacation. All in all, I'd recommend it.
Owner response:We have installed a washer and dryer which should make our guests experience even better. Thank-you for the helpful comments.
