Cozy View Cabin Sleeps 10 - Close to Ski Resorts & Lake
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Big Bear City
We are able to have family vacations with our children and grandchildren. With the skiing and snow play in the winter, mountain biking down the slopes the other seasons, and the lake in the summer, this is a perfect year round vacation spot.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Located between Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, it is naturally a great location for skiiers, and there is also a slope behind the cabin that kids can sled down during the winter months. There are two grocery stores 5-10 minutes away and close to the east end of the lake. We are close to the zoo, open year round, and the golf course, which is open between ski seasons.

Decent accommodations, but poor service and needs upgrades

The accommodations at this cabin were decent … the cabin had the accommodations as described by the owner and the other reviewers. All of the TVs are tube TVs and could definitely use an upgrade, which would not cost very much to do. We had to connect the DVD player in the living room to use it. There were light bulbs out throughout the entire cabin… it seems like the cleaning crew should do a check of this prior to guests arriving. Our biggest complaint was that we arrived at 7:30pm on Friday evening to a dark cabin and the lockbox code that we received did not work. We called the owner several times that evening with no response until the next morning. Had it not been for an open sliding door on the side patio, we would not have had access to the cabin on our first of two evenings. We wanted to leave for dinner that night but were very uncomfortable leaving our dogs unsecured for the evening, so we picked up dinner. We received a working code for another lockbox the next morning, but the message we received later that day had more incorrect codes… very unprofessional!

Spent the weekend in this cabin and I got to say I was more than satisfied with my stay. Very pretty cabin with plenty of space and beautiful view of the mountains and snow slopes. Cabin is well taken care of and super cozy. The pictures actually do not do it justice. One of my favorite things was the hot tub and the view, it was beautiful. My guest and I had a great experience and will definitely be back.

Stayed in cabin with a total of 4 adults and 4 kids. Cabin fit everyone comfortably. Cabin was well appointed, clean and in a great location. We missed the snow, but we would definitely come back when there is snow on the ground as it has a great sledding place right outside of cabin. Great views!

Eight of us, including my 94 year old father-in-law, my two grown daughters, my 1 & 4 year old granddaughters, and my wife & I booked the cabin for Christmas this year. We were lucky with a winter storm comming thru the week before so we had the hoped for white christmas. This cabin is wonderfully located just a mile or so from the lake with good lake views and wonderful views of the ski slopes. The 3 bedrooms and the two singles in the rec room were just the right accomodations for the 8 of us. Given the holidays, we did a lot of cooking at the unit and found the kitchen had everything needed to support us. This is a typical mountain cabin with wood everywhere. It is not new, but was very comfortable. The kitchen/dinning/living room is on the entry level with the 3 bedrooms and rec room on two levels below. If you are looking for resort level accomodations this is not the choice for you, but it was a nice comfortable family style home that we enjoyed very much. One suggestion is to upgrade the tv on the main floor. The old style small tube tv is getting a little dated though it worked just fine.

The cabin is in a fabulous location however is in need of some TLC. When we arrived an hour after check-in the cleaning person was still there and didn't appear to have been there long. There was not near enough toiletries left for the number of guests or days that we booked. We had to wash towels after one day and thankfully brought extra supplies of our own. My only regret is that we did not inform the owner ASAP to these issues so that they may be addressed.
Owner response:We spent the last few months refurbishing the cabin and changing our cleaning help. It is awesome now. Check it out. Jeanette

This is a repeat trip for us. And it's amazing. We plan to make this our annual trip! My family is comfortable and just cozy enough. With a big room to enjoy each other, or separate areas to enjoy some quiet time. The accommodations are top notch... it's a GREAT price. We built a huge sled run just below the house with the neighbors last winter.... you can enjoy the house by itself or head into the slopes. The house is fully equipped too.... just bring yourself and what you need to eat. It doesn't get any easier! Thanks Jeanette!

We stayed at the cabin in summer and it was great. I couldn't wait to go back so I book for Thanksgiving and it was wonderful. We got the first snow of winter, and sled run down the back was fantastic for those who didn't want to drive. My family and I really liked this cabin a lot. It is a great get away from the busy city I can't wait to go back again this winter.
