Welcome to 'FINCA COLINA PAULA"
Our property is located in Barrio Mercedes, Atenas about 5 minutes driving from the center of Atenas. Finca Colina Paula is in a residential area however you are in your private piece/peace of Paradise once you enter this 18 acre property.
Our home is set back 200m away from the road and it sits up high ensuring the most increcible non obstructed views of the mountain and volcano ridges. The views are so very different at any time of day. The morning views seem almost mystical and in the evening you get to see all of the Central Valley (San Jose, Grecia, Alajuela)with its little sparkling lights.
We often just sit in our rocking chairs or hammocks and just take in all these incredible views. It is mesmerizing.
Our goals for building this particular home was to fully enjoy all of the natural beauty and views, to take full advantage of the incredible climate of Atenas, to provide relaxation, style and privacy. In Atenas you can practically live outside all year around, hence our three large wrap around porches where you can read, eat and sleep..in total comfort. Once inside however we have made sure that you have all the luxury and convenience of home.
This home was built with excellent materials and native woods. The very tall ceilings, ceiling fans and ventilation areas ensure a constant cross breeze and you will never be hot in this house. Since Atenas has an excellent climate, the pool temperature is always comfortable to swim in.
Our property is very diverse. Fruit trees with almost any kind of fruit native to Costa Rica have been planted, our landscaping incorporates lush tropical foliage, there are 3 rivers which can be heard at night during rainy season, there are very old and protected trees on the property and with 18 acres it is needless to say you have lots of space to stretch out and walk. We assure you stunning views from anywhere you will be.
Within literally 5 minutes of walking from "Finca Colina Paula" you can have lunch or dinner at one of the local restaurants of Atenas. Driving into the lovely town of Atenas will also take you five minutes. For those of you who choose not to rent a car, we can recommend a driver to you at a very affordable price. Also it is so easy to take a local taxi and even the bus stops at the front of the property so you can go anywhere!!
Downtown Atenas provides everything you may need: grocery stores, banks, butchers, Friday green market, doctors, chiropractor, vet, lawyers, real estate agencies, bakeries, bars, churches, a central park etc...
We have to mention that the restaurants are such a treat: ingredients are so fresh that even the simplest of meal is always delicious. Also, there is a great selection of restaurants and all at very affordable prices.
For any of you that want to take day trips to the gorgeous beaches, volcanoes, zoo, nature parks, it is all just a car ride away.
And for the ones that want to stay in touch with friends and family: yes!! we have high speed internet!!!!!!!!

This has been a life long dream of us to own a large property in a beautiful environment with spectacular views and breathtaking flora. We purchased this prpoerty 4 years ago and transformed it from a bare piece of land to a tropical paradise offer peace and serenity.
We were there for every step of the process. We finished our house completely in November of 2008.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We often find ourselves relaxing in the hammocks and being mesmorised by the beautiful views and nature that is surrounding us. It is calming and nurturing to the soul. We love the huge terraces and constant crossbreezes in the house. We like privacy and we have that on 18 acres of land. Every rainy season we plant more tropical plants or spread them out so that each year our property is more and more beautiful. This is home and we want to share it with you.
