KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.; We have owned our cottage for many years. We have a local managing agent to handle check-in and check-out details to ensure your vacation is care free. Kiawah Island, from its opening in 1976, has been family oriented. Your family will have miles of bike trails to keep them busy in between swimming, tennis, golf, fishing, kayaking, beach walking, visiting the Night Heron Nature Center, shopping and sight-seeing at the Sanctuary, Town Center and the nearby Fresh Fields Village. Also, there are many restaurants and grills on the island and nearby for your dining pleasure if you want a break from eating in. You might consider having a meal pre-cooked at Newton-Farms Supermarket in Fresh Fields Village, such as shrimp or pizza, to bring back to the cottage.
There are charter boats for fishing and boat cruises available at Bohicket Marina just beyond Fresh Fields Village. For a change of pace, go to downtown Charleston, 20 miles away, for more sight-seeing, low country eating and fun events.
HISTORIC CHARLESTON: The Charleston area is unique! No where else will you find a blend of 300 years of history, art and culture with tree-lined streets, historic homes, churches, plantations, landmarks and gardens combined with modern complexes, such as, an aquarium and IMAX theater, low country and gourmet dining and shopping. Sightseeing carriage and walking tours are also available. Just across the Ashley River are 3 landmark plantations: Middleton Place(landscaped gardens), Drayton Hall (Georgian-Palladian architecture) and Magnolia Plantation(household and tropical gardens). In many areas you feel as if you have traveled back in time somewhere in England. Come, see and enjoy.
GOLF, TENNIS, BIKING AND OTHER ISLAND ACTIVITIES: Golf is available at the Ocean Course, Osprey Point, Turtle Point, Cougar Point and Oak Point courses with all of the amenities including dining and a pro-shop. Tennis courts are located at West Beach Tennis Center and East Beach Tennis Center. Bike shops are located near Cougar Point Golf Course and in Night Heron Park, which also has a child's play area, Kamp Kiawah and Nature Center with nature programs for the whole family. Numerous walking and bike trails are also available. The Sanctuary and nearby Town Center have fine shops and dining. The Kiawah Resort has other amenities for your enjoyment.

This cottage has great potential but is currently lacking in many basic amenities and needs a thorough clean. The kitchen cupboards are full of very cheap dishes, assorted plastics and basic glassware. All of the drawers and cupboards need to be cleaned. The master bed is small - I would say more of a double than the advertised queen size. The plastic protective sheet underneath the thin bed sheet on this bed was a bit creepy. The blankets that fill the cottage are very old and many smell and look like they were used for pets that might have stayed here in the past. Lastly, while the advertisement does tell the renter to bring these items - a simple investment in a hair dryer, salt and pepper shakers, coffee filters and dish washing pods (we were given only 5 for a 7 night stay) would certainly benefit this place. Also- be aware that you don't have access to the mega pools on the island (the community pool was less than inviting) - you have to book with the golf resort directly or with an owner that uses this company as their property manager. The island is beautiful and we will return but not to this cottage.Owner response: As the proud owners of this cottage since 1982,we have not had a review such as made by "Disappointed" which appears to be superficial. Our local managing agent instructs all guests at check-in to call them at their phone number for a quick correction of all reasonable problems. The "Sparrow Pond pool nearby is available to our guests when open at no cost to them. We have no control over any resort pools on the island. 2012 was a "Good Year" for us and 2013 appears to be headed the same way. We had a great time. The house was better than we expected., Great location near the beach, and convenient to all Kiawa has to offer. Excellent owners and management. We will come back!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners.

My family and I stayed here a week during the summer and absolutely loved your perfect piece of paradise. The house was perfect for our family, very spacious and convenient to everything. Loved the easy access to the beach, pool and my children loved the nature center and activites every night at Night Heron Park. Thank you for allowing me to bring my diciplined pet. We had a very memoriable family vacation and look forward to renting from you very soon.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
