This is the second floor of a Spanish style townhouse built in the 30's, in the fabulous West Beach area of downtown Santa Barbara.
Considered the most charming area in all of Santa Barbara, "West Beach" is approximately 4 blocks square, filled with wonderful old two story Spanish style homes originally built in the 30's around the old Potter Hotel. Many of the original homes have been converted to small inns. There are palm trees lining the side walked streets and from our place there is a peak of the ocean and the tips of boat masts in the harbor.
It is a very short block + walk to the beach (Cabrillo Blvd) with all of the traditional beach activities (bike rentals, roller blades, sailing, kayaking, etc) available. Also within two blocks is the yacht harbor, Stearns Wharf, Santa Barbara City College (with the Garvin Theater), as well as Pershing Park (public tennis courts and softball fields), "the plunge" (our olympic size public swimming pool), and the Carriage Museum (a true treasure). The Santa Barbara Amtrac station is close by, so if you desire, you can visit without a car!
The area is situated between State and Castillo Streets.. downtown is a 5 minute walk (theaters, restaurants, shopping, etc). Although there are several small hotels and bed and breakfast spots in West Beach, rarely do you find a vacation rental with 2 bedrooms AND the very coveted "2 bathrooms".. This makes it a perfect getaway for a family of 4 or 5 or two couples looking for a Santa Barbara city weekend retreat.
This second floor unit has coved ceilings and hardwood floors throughout. There is a charming dining room with large bay window and dining table that seats up to 8. Attached to the dining room is a large living room with a new 52" HD flat screen tv with dvd player and dvd library. The master bedroom has a king size bed, 32" HD flat screen tv and dvd player. It incorporates a cozy sitting area with comfy chairs and table where you can read, write, or relax.
The second bedroom has a queen bed, 32" HD flat screen tv and dvd player. There is an additional futon that can be used to accommodate a child. Both bedrooms come with IRONED high thread count cotton sheets, down pillows and comforters.
In addition, both bedrooms have bookshelves filled with GREAT books. The first bathroom has a bathtub/shower combination. The second bathroom has a shower and full laundry facilities. Bathrooms have huge fluffy towels and bathrobes. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a deck attached. A gas barbecue and outdoor dining area look out over the city with the mountains beyond.
Off street parking is provided for two cars (this is a huge plus in the area) and an additional street parking permit is provided if needed. Please be aware.. this is a second floor unit and it still utilizes the original 1930's staircase.. steep and narrow stairs (they are, fortunately, well lit!)...
We require a one week minimum stay during the school year. Tax and cleaning fee will be added for stays shorter than one month. For a month stay or longer, weekly cleaning (freshly laundered towels and crisp ironed sheets provided weekly) is included and no tax is added.

We loved our stay at this townhouse. It is so nice to be able to walk everywhere from your front door--to the beach, the harbor, the Stearns Wharf, State Street, the tennis courts and the bike rental. We did all of that, and more. We appreciated the home-like townhouse on a very cute street. The layout was so good for us...two bedrooms, two baths, living room, kitchen and an outdoor patio. All of that was great but in addition, it was so thoughtfully appointed for us, as if we were guest coming to their home. She had fresh flowers in every room, the kitchen was well stocked with everything, including lots of food and snacks that carried us a long time. Even the bathrooms were well stocked. I inquired about whether she had beach chairs for us, and she went out and purchased some for us, and an umbrella. It was just a great rental experience and I would recommend this property to anyone.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
