This lodge vacation home is centrally located to all that Montana’s Flathead Valley has to offer and is a mere 4 miles from both downtown Whitefish and Whitefish Lake. Just 10 minutes more and you and your companions can enjoy hiking and a gondola chair ride at Whitefish’s own “Big Mountain.” Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness are only 25 minutes away, so whatever your pleasure - whitewater rafting, fishing, horseback riding, or boating – this vacation spot has it all. Additionally, multiple shopping areas are only 15 minutes from your doorstep. There are many restaurants, art galleries, spas, golf courses and local shops for you to enjoy on your perfect Montana vacation.
This enchanting Montana lodge, built in 2004 and totaling 2500 sq. ft., boasts beautiful cathedral ceilings which are covered in pine with log accents. The open layout of the lodge’s upstairs is perfect for family gatherings. The rocking chairs on the covered front porch are perfect for you and your friends and family to sit and enjoy the fresh Montana air and blue sky. You might be tempted to lounge on the porch all day, but there is so much to do so close to your front door that you may have trouble deciding on the day’s adventures.
The kitchen is designed with rustic blue pine cabinets are complimented with granite and soap-stone countertops elegantly blending together. The gleaming full-size, stainless steel appliances, microwave with convection oven, full-size dishwasher, and garbage disposal make preparing and clearing meals a breeze. All of the cooking tools, utensils, and dishes that you and your guests will need are provided. The laundry area has front loading, full-size, washer and dryer. The kitchen is open to the main floor living room making it easy for you to chat with someone relaxing on the couch while preparing a snack or a drink. The living room area has a 42” flat screen TV that you can watch from the kitchen and a pull-out couch for additional sleeping room.
There are two bedrooms on the main floor. The first bedroom boasts a king-size bed, beautiful custom pine furniture, and a large picture window that allows you to wake up and enjoy the view of the deep blue pond. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed and custom pine furniture. The two bedrooms are connected by a deluxe bathroom with a double shower complete with steam and a Jacuzzi tub to soak in after a busy day enjoying all that Whitefish has to offer.
The lower level has three large bedrooms all with queen-size beds and lodge-style décor. The linens for all bedrooms in the lodge are provided for you and your guests. There is a second living room area on the lower level with its own flat screen TV with DVD player. All TVs in the lodge are equipped with satellite and the house is WiFi enabled for you to surf the net from anywhere in the home. The lower level also has a wet bar, computer desk, reading library, and DVD library for you to enjoy.
Outside you have your own picnic area complete with propane Weber grill. All the comforts of home are here for you to relax and enjoy your perfect Montana Vacation!

Dr. Steven Schram, LAc, DC is your host. He is an outdoor enthusiast, Professor, Chiropractor and Acupuncturist who wanted to create a different kind of wellness center. The Walking Bear resort has been his project since he moved here in 2007 with his Wife and three daughters. He continues to teach at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland.
Why the Owner Chose Whitefish
After traveling through all the national parks in the US I was captivated by the beauty of Glacier National Park. The pristine rivers, blue lakes and endless outdoor recreation was something I had searched for for many years. Formally a Lake Tahoe resident I wanted to live in a place that was a small mountain and lake town with Year round outdoor activiites. WHen I came here it was more then I had ever dreamed of finding in one place. I moved here 2 years later.
The Unique Benefits of this House
I choose this location to put you right in the middle of it all. You are only a few minutes from the trains and airport. A few minutes to the shopping, two downtown areas, Big Mountain ski resort and Glacier National Park. Although Whitefish lake is beautiful there are many smaller lakes and rivers to enjoy. The house itself lets you have privacy, open family areas but is a short ride to all the things I just mentioned.
