Located on the quaint town square of Coldspring, Texas, “The Browder House” was built in the late 1920s by a local builder for a widower who intended to use it for a boarding house. This plan would have been perfect had it not been for her family who all moved in. A lawyer in our family purchased it in the early 1930s. It has been in our family since that time.
The 3 bedroom, one bath home retains many of its original features such as the 6-foot iron tub, original doors, square nails, skeleton key holes, and all the charm of a 1920s cottage. It has been updated over the years with central heat and air, a shower has been installed in the tub, satellite TV, a fully equipped kitchen, and modern comforts we are all accustomed to now. However, the charm of this historic home is still there.
The master opens onto a screened-in porch on the back of the house. The front porch is perfect for enjoying your beverage of choice and watching the comings and goings of the town square. The antique shops are very quaint and filled with relics waiting for a place in your home.
The Browder House sleeps six easily with 3 bedrooms (2 queen beds and 1 trundle which has two twin beds). There is a portable crib for little ones and a couch but it does not make into a bed. The house is completely furnished and comes with all linens, towels, hair dryer, cooking utensils, etc to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Coldspring has several restaurants from which to choose and other close by attractions including Lake Livingston, Cape Royale Golf Club, Double Lake National Forest Campground and park, the historic San Jacinto County Jail Museum, and much more. If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of your busy life, step back in time to the charming town of Coldspring. It’s great for family getaways, girls’ weekends, guys’ golfing and boating weekends, or a romantic time to reconnect with your special someone.

2009 Pricing:
$75/night - Sunday through Thursday Nights (except holidays).
$95/night – Friday and Saturday nights (except holidays)
THERE IS NO LONGER A 2-NIGHT MINIMUM STAY
ALSO AVAILABLE FOR DAY USE - $75/day + applicable taxes
Holidays are New Years, Easter, Labor Day, Spring Break, Thanksgiving and Christmas (Dec 19-31). The rates for these holidays are $85/night Sun – Thurs and $105/night Fri and Sat. There is a two night minimum during these holidays, without exception.
A credit card is required to place your booking. If cancellation of your reservation is made less than 72 hours of the arrival date, your card will be charged the rate of one night’s rental. Thank you.
10% tax on all totals (6 % state tax and 4% city tax)
No pets and no smoking allowed. There will be a $50 charge for renters who violate either of these rules.
