Great place for a company retreat!

We rented this location as a retreat for our small company. It was a perfect set up, with plenty of room to get together. You can't beat the lake for beachfront, especially in CA. Everything was provided. Many rentals skimp on essentials. All in all, a great time.

We had a wonderful time at Hansen's Lake Vista. The view from the deck is spectacular. We loved spending time at the dock reading and playing in the kayak and paddle boats. We really also enjoyed the outside shower and jacuzzi after spending the day at the dock. The kitchen is beautiful. The only downside was some noisy construction that went on for awhile one day. Overall we had a great vacation here and would definitely use it again.

Owner response:Short term construction ... this will not be something a 2012 guest will have to endure.

We had a great time at Gerry's home on Lake Almanor. What a great way to start the day, sipping coffee on the patio, looking out at the lake while wearing a sweatshirt! The boat dock was so convenient for the boat we rented, the grass area between the house and the lake was beautiful to see, and great for laying out or playing bocce ball. The layout of the home was perfect for 2 families - adults upstairs and kids downstairs. It would be great if there was a queen or king size bed in the second bedroom upstairs so that a couple can use the room - maybe there are plans for this??

Owner response:This was a great suggestion and I have made the change to accomodate two adult bedrooms on the main floor each with a private bath. Master and Bedroom #2 are now Queen beds.

Hansen's Lake Vista is a fabulous home on the shores of Lake Almanor. Great dock and amenities for multiple activities of fun for all ages. The upper deck has a beautiful view of the lake and provides ample space for large families to dine out doors. We'll be returning for our 4th summer in 2012. A big "Thank You" to Gerry and her daughter's for sharing their special home with our families.

We absolutely loved your house and our week there, despite a day of rain and a day of clouds! My family has been coming to Almanor every summer since 1978. I have been in over 30 different country club rentals over the years. Your house was my favorite hands down! We absolutely loved it- the gentle sloping grass, the nice dock, the sandy shoreline, the kayak, the paddleboat, the hot tub, the well stocked toys, the deck, the outdoor fire, the guest cottage, the basement suite- everything was just perfect for us! Can't say enough how much we enjoyed Hansen's Lake Vista! Thank you, thank you , thank you!"

Hansen Retreat Great Vacation Place

My family had a wonderful time at the Hansen Lake Retreat. I have been coming to Lake Almanor Country Club to vacation with my family since I was 14 years old. My husband and I have been bringing out two girls for the last 21 years. This was the first year we have rented a house on the lake. We rented the house with my sister's family and my parents. All total there were 13 of us. There was plenty of room for all us. The deck and the dock were the two most used spaces. We had coffee in the morning, fun in the sun and water in the afternoon, and fishing and relaxing in the evening. The deck is quite spaceous and can accommodate a large group. We all enjoyed the paddle boat and kayak. The hot tub was used as well. It was an added bonus to have bed and bath linens provided. The descriptions and listing photos gave an accurate description of the property. The home and surroundings were very clean and well maintained. The owner is quick to answer any questions that I had about the property. We are definetly considering renting the house again next year. Once you stay on the lake you'll never want to rent anywhere else. The Country Club has many activities for all ages. We played tennis, shuffleboad, and horseshoes at Rec 1. If you want a good burger Paul Bunyuns is just outside the Peninsula Gate. The Peninsula Store is also convenient.

Great place to spend time with family!

Just got back from our trip to Hansen's place on Lake Almanor and we had a great time again. This was our second year in a row. The house is great and stocked with practically everything you need to live in extreme comfort. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook and clean for your family. You just bring the food and drink. The bedrooms and baths are nice, clean and comfortable. There is a spa and outdoor shower to enjoy too. The back yard runs about 60 yards or more down a gentle slope to the beach and is a great place for kids to play. There is a nice plastic (no splinters!) dock where you can hang out on the water and enjoy the scenery. My only complaint would be the gates. They are controlled by key card after hours (after the guards go home) so if you run out to get something at the store, you may come back and find you're locked out. It would be nice if one of the key cards was provided to the renters. We encountered this situation this year and last year. Thankfully, we were able to sweet talk someone to let us in but it took a long time. A few notes to consider: 1. Bring DVD's. There is a nice TV and DVD player but the satellite TV was basic. There is DSL too so you can stream NetFlix or whatever. 2. The store in town (Chester) is pretty basic so bring any unique things you're used to finding in the city. 3. The gates to the country club are gated and guarded. The guards are only there during the day and early evening. Don't get stuck outside the gates!

Owner response:This is the first year the gates are not staffed throughout the evening hours (Peninsula gate 10 p.m. and Clifford gate 12 p.m.) Looks like a sign of our current economic times. I intend to add a key card to the rental packet next year so this inconvenienced.

Just back from a divine week at your wonderful home at Almanor. The house and grounds are spectacular, and the cozy atmosphere made it immediately welcoming. Your kitchen equipment and supplies are exceptional! For my family the incredible selection of books and games was very special, and the equipment which you so nicely shared on the dock was a delight for the whole family. The seat and umbrella are such a special touch and made it possible to enjoy the glorious sun and water and have a spot of shade too! We think you thought of everything to make our stay special. Thanks so much!

Thank you for your hospitality, we had a wonderful time at your home in Lake Almanor. What a beautiful spot and a fabulous home, your efforts to provide everything necessary for a fun time were well noted and appreciated by all. We enjoyed the homey feel of your place with pictures of your daughters and our two kids really enjoyed playing with some of the toys and things found in the bins outside. All in all our best vacation spot yet and we've done this every year for almost 10 years. In fact we'd like to come back next year and would reserve June 25-July6th now if you're taking reservations this far in advance.
