Casa Duna is a beautiful home which is nicely secluded but located near a lovely town. The house and the people who work there are amazing. The food is delicious, better than any restaurant. The house is perfectly clean and every day while we were out basking in the sun on the beach or sitting by the pool or touring the island the ladies always tidied up so we retuned to a fresh house with our things neatly tucked away in their spot. Every morning we got up and went for a swim with our morning coffee before breakfast. This is a home to stay in with your family or a romantic getaway for two. We can't say enough about this wonderful place. We will be back and we hated to leave.Owner response: So happy that the two of you enjoyed your stay so much and to hear that you hated to leave. That is the best compliment we can get. Most importantly that tells me how well Bev, Pheona and Len took care of you. We look forward to welcoming you back.

La Casa Duna was just what my wife and I needed after a dreary winter on the East Coast. The staff made us feel very welcome and cared for and oh...the food! Fresh fish, prepared wonderfully with much thought was given to our every need. This was the third time that we have been there and the property looks more beautiful with every trip. To us, not having cell phone signal and TV was a big plus, as the reason we wanted to go on vacation was to "vacate" our exceedingly busy lives! The slow pace and the warm people are what continues to and will continue to draw us there...Owner response: After three visits to Duna it is always nice to hear that we are still taking such good care of our guests. All guests have different needs and wants and we aim to satisfy as many of them as best we can. Obviously the staff has once again taken great care of you. For me that is most important and always nice to hear. No surprise to hear about the food. I tell everyone the best restaurant in town is Bev´s kitchen. We look forward to welcoming you back. La Casa Duna is a very quiet villa sitting atop the bluff. The decor is very nice and we spent alot of time sitting on the verandah watching and listening to the ocean. Bev made some wonderful meals for us and she and Pheona took really good care of the villa. Len spoiled us by being our bodyguard and caretaker and he makes some awesome sweets!!! Our days were filled with the sun, sand, water and fun, but the evenings were boring for 2 of us. We had the understanding that there was a TV for watching DVD's and also adult games to play. Come to find out the TV was broken and the only game was backgammon. Luckily we brought reading material and there were also many books on hand to read as well. My biggest complaint for the whole week were the bugs, specifically the fire ants. I had them in my suitcase and backpack when I got home and even had them coming out of my laptop for several days. All in all, the villa was beautiful and my time with my close friends was wonderful and I cannot say enough about the staff who went out of their way to accomodate us and make us feel welcome and safe. Also, all communication with Chris, the villa owner, was very positive and he responded to emails quickly.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/3

The villa was nice but with a few problems. Bev is a good cook, Jerk Chicken, Lobster and fish, Yumm. The villa is nice and I did have fun while I was there until I seen the roach run across the kitchen counter. When we arrived we found there was no TV so I read books after dinner. Readding was a little hard due to the lighting was very low and a few of the lamps did not have lightbulbs in them. They did have a radio and Len was great to let us borrow some CD's. As far a the amnenities, the soap they used to do the dishes was laundry soap, there was no phone, I was able to text with my AT&T, my friends with Verizion could not get any bars to text on their phones. The BUGS were bad. bitting ants in the living room and master bedroom and roaches were seen in the kitchen and bathroom and lots of fruit flies in the kitchen. I would not recomend it to any of my friends unless they really wanted to rough it.Owner response: I am sorry that things did not go so well for you and have brought your concerns to the attention of the staff. Most importantly to make sure that we are doing all that we can in regards to bugs and that guests are aware that food can not be brought throughout the house. Treasure Beach is a rural area in the tropics and there will of course be insects that you have to deal with. I have had guests at the house straight through since the holidays and have run into no problems and have had wonderful reactions to the house and staff. Alas, you can not impress 100% of the people all of the time. Treasure Beach is certainly for getting away from all the regulars we have in every day life, relaxing, enjoying the the great food, outdoors, sea, sun and good company. Unfortunately both AT&T and Verizon do not service the Caribbean unless you make prior arrangements.Feedback from all guests is so important and is the only way to make sure that we are doing all that we can to attend to your needs. For that I thank you. While I wish that it had gone better for you, it was nice to hear from another member of your group who had a wonderful time. "I am one of the three that was on this trip and I just want to say I do not feel the same as (the other guest), I do agree the staff you have is wonderful and I enjoyed talking and spending time with them and they went out of their way to make our stay a good one. I for one understand you are going to have insects in the Tropics you are going to get that anywhere you go. We have them here also. I don’t mean to disagree with my friends but I found it very peaceful without the TV we all had books to read and I for one was fine with that. I would like to thank you for what I feel was a wonderful trip to Jamaica, it has been a place I have wanted to go since I was a child and this was a dream come true and for that I thank you."

Our family of four spent a week at La Casa Duna. It is perched atop cliffs overlooking the sea. We were lulled to sleep at night by the crashing waves and spent hours on the spacious and comfortable veranda watching the sea, or reading, sunbathing or sharing one of the delicious home cooked meals prepared by Miss Bev, who is a terrific cook. There is a small pool next to the veranda for a cool dip, or a sandy beach is a short walk away. The property caretaker is full of stories and wonderful ideas for outings, if you so desire. We spent the week without a car, but had no trouble finding a driver when we wanted to explore further afield. This was such a delightful, carefree, quiet and relaxing vacation, we can't wait to go back. All in all, an exceptional experience.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Year Purchased: 1982
About the owner: My parents purchased La Casa Duna as a family getaway from Bucks County in Pennsylvania. We had a beautiful Farm House in Solebury, outside of New Hope on the Delaware River where I grew up.
Why the Owner Chose Treasure Beach:
I first travelled to Treasure Beach for the Christmas of 1979 with my parents on what was truly an adventure. We stayed at another house for three Christmas´ and fell in love with the area, the location, the Sea, the pace of life, the food and of course the people.,Many of whom I have grown up with and are dear friends. There was this empty house for sale at the end of the beach on top of the bluff and the rest is the amazing journey.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Bev, Len and Pheona ( Staff ), Even greater privacy, The view from the front Terrace up the coast to Great Pedro Bluff, The sound of the Sea, The cooling breeze in the house, The Garden side in the morning with the Hummingbirds, built to be a home and not a rental ( homey ).
