Location: Hamilton, Northwest, Colorado, USA (Located Btw Meeker, Craig, Hayden, Steamboat, & Yampa)

Accommodations:  Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.25 Baths (Sleeps 18-22)

Consider this secluded, remote, rustic, comfortable 1950 log cabin your private home. Enjoy the serenity and seclusion of your own cabin on 70 private acres, surrounded by mountains and with it’s own private ½ mile of river frontage, with unbelievable beauty and recreational opportunities right out your front door. Wild Skies’ cabin is the perfect place for hunting parties, to reward important clients and top employees or to launch a demonstration week for new outdoor products.

Wild Skies, cabin is situated at the base of Mt. Baldy at an elevation of approximately 8500 feet on 70 acres of aspen meadows and pine groves in NW Colorado on the northern end of the Flat Tops Wilderness in Game Management Unit 12. The property is surrounded on three sides by the Routt National Forest. The cabin is centrally located between Steamboat Springs, Yampa, Hayden, Craig and Meeker, Colorado on the Flat Tops National Scenic Byway at 52100 County Road 8 between mile markers 52 & 53 (next door to a National Historic Landmark- The Pyramid Ranger Station). Our GPS Coordinates are: 40.155,-107.22.

The views are spectacular. From the back porch, the view opens across a 90 foot deep valley of the East Fork of the Williams Fork River to Mt. Baldy Mountain and the ridge that leads to Pyramid Peak (elevation 11,369). Every room in the house has gorgeous views of the heavily wooded aspen and pine groves which cascade like a waterfall over the 90 foot ridge over looking the river on the east side of the cabin. The back deck and second floor balcony have great views of wildlife climbing the adjacent ridges and Bald Eagles scoping the river which is abundant with trout.

Activities:
Since the cabin is located where one might normally expect to find a wall tent, the convenience for hunting the surrounding National Forest lands is a major plus. Wild Skies’ cabin is also within 30 minutes' drive of most of the private ranches that permit hunters. Elk, deer, bears, mountain lions and eagles have all been observed from the cabin grounds. Wild Skies’ cabin is an ideal base camp for a fall hunting trip.

Fishing is superb in the East Fork of the Williams River and in the overall area. Great creeks, streams, lakes and rivers abound. Vaughn Lake less than four miles away and Marvine and Trappers Lakes (25 miles away) offer spectacular high country scenery, as well as Rainbows, Brown, Brook and Cut Throat Trout.

You can begin your snowmobiling, snowshoeing, hiking, horseback riding and/or mountain biking excursions right from the front door of the cabin, or you can trailer your horses or machines to several trailheads or other parking areas in the vicinity. Guests are welcome to bring their own horses, or other equipment. Sombrero Ranch is also located within one mile of the cabin and is the largest horse ranch in the country with over 16,000 horses. Arrangements can be made in advance through Sombrero for daily or weekly horse rentals.

During the summer all roads are open; however, there is no winter maintenance on over 40 miles of the Scenic Byway between Meeker and Yampa from approximately mile marker 30 through mile marker 70 which encompassed the areas between Dunckley and Ripple Creek Passes. As a result, when sufficient snowfall occurs in the winter or hasn't melted out yet in the spring, via car or truck, the only way to access the cabin is through Hayden or Hamilton. County Roads from Hamilton and Hayden through County Road 19 are plowed and maintained all winter. However, the road is only plowed up though the intersection of county roads 19 and 8. There is a parking area there for vehicles and trailers. The cabin is located another 2.5 miles south of the intersections of County Roads 19 and 8, on County Road 8, and can be accessed via snowmobile, snowcat, cross-country skis or snowshoe.

For those we don't mind snowmobiling in from longer distances, you can park either at Lost Creek on the Meeker side of the Scenic Byway or just a few miles east of Dunckley pass on the Yampa side of the Scenic Byway, and snowmobile to the cabin an approximate 20 miles from either direction.

Accommodations:
Wild Skies’ 2000 sq. ft. cabin is built from native pine logs. On the main floor is a living room and library sitting area, a modern-fully stocked kitchen and dining area, with a wood burning fireplace, a Soapstone wood burning stove and radiant in floor heat. The harvest table seats eight to ten comfortably and three more can sit at the kitchen bar. Both the living room and library contain queen size sleeper sofas. Also on the main floor are two bedrooms and a full bathroom. One bedroom is fitted out with a queen bed, and the second bedroom is fitted with two single beds or during hunting season, two sets of bunk beds.

The upstairs features a large open dormitory area, fitted out with six double beds and book shelves, storage drawers and dressers. Depending on how many share a bed the upstairs dormitory can sleep from 6-12 people. There is an outhouse on the property as well.

Although located far from the power grid, the cabin's self- sufficient systems provide for all the comforts of home. All appliances and systems are fueled or powered by wood, propane, solar PV or generator. The cabin has a radio equipped for good AM-FM reception, but no TV (by design). Cellular service does not work well in the area.

Other Services:
Our goal is to provide our guests with exceptional wilderness accommodations in an uncommonly beautiful mountain setting.
