What an adventurers' paradise!

Guest: Vickie & Gail
Date of Stay: 05/11/12 Review Submitted: 05/16/12

Enchantment! What an adventurers' paradise! After 2-3 days of rest, we were able to experience the joy that is Sedona & Cornville! Your amazing cottage surrounded us with peace and comfort. Thank you for sharing your "little slice of heaven." ...If I am ever fortunate enough to make it back, one day, I will want to stay here in the cottage.

Thank you for your restful cottage. The two rare snow days were heavenly. We re-grouped around the fireplace. This area is beautiful...we fell in love with all the Red Canyon mountains/buttes. Every place we looked was heavenly! We will definitely choose "Allie's Acre" for our base again...Also enjoyed sitting around your outside chiminea and enjoying local wine. Your place was even more enjoyable than we had anticipated! Thank you again for sharing.

IL couple love the cottage!

Guest: Granny Linda K. (Swansea IL)
Date of Stay: 02/20/12 Review Submitted: 03/04/12

This country cottage includes great amenities: large for 2 or 3 people, lovely decor, comfortable lounging areas and beds, cozy & warm, centrally located to many activities and places mentioned in owner's description, plus handy kitchen and bath with plenty of hot water. Everything functions beautifully and is bright and clean. This cottage is a GREAT VALUE considering upscale prices in the Sedona area. The yard is full of trees, cheery birdsongs and is maybe 100 yards from lovely Oak Creek. We would recommend this cottage to to friends/relatives and hope they have as great a vacation as we did in this pleasant retreat in a halcyon location.

Owner response:I appreciate your comment about the value, William. We are really committed to keeping our cottage affordable for people, instead of just going with "what the market will bear." And, as they say, "location, location, location." We are central to so many wonderful places and activities, and with the new "wine region" literally down the road from us, there is no shortage of things to do.

Cornville retreat from the Sedona hustle and bustle

Guest: HarryR (Lafayette, CA)
Date of Stay: 12/27/11 Review Submitted: 01/02/12

Wife, myself, son, and dogs stayed for two nights. Cornville is a small town that is west of the West Sedona area. From the main part of Sedona about 25 minutes, but probably the most gorgeous view of the Sedona Red Rocks you will see. Boynton and Fay Canyons, to give you something to map. The drive at night is a little boring, while the drive during the day is a Kodak moment. While it may seem far from Sedona, where you can find places closer to the action, we really enjoyed the quiet nature of the place. The dogs could run around, we could take naps, it really was relaxing. One night we went to Harry's Hideaway restaurant, great little neighborhood joint for dinner, if you have time check it out. The owner mentioned that we should go to a Christmas Lights show. (Look up Kessel Christmas on YouTube) My wife and son were bored, but it was probably the coolest 30 minute Christmas show I have seen! I can't believe how much time it must have taken to get the lights and music synched. It's little detours that make vacations fun. We did the typical Bell Rock hike and saw Slide Rock, but our stay in Cornville sticks out in our minds. A couple items to note. Even with the wood burning stove which we had going all the time, the sleeping areas were a little cold. Bathroom and shower was fine, cable tv had plenty of channels. Could have used more comfortable seats in the main seating area, I liked the couch near the tv better, although it was in the 2nd bedroom. Next time we return, we will use Cornville again to visit Jerome. Thanks again!

Owner response:Glad you enjoyed your stay; we definitely appreciate the 5 star rating! With regard to the heating...you didn't mention whether you augmented the wood-burning stove with the tower heaters that are in both bedrooms, or with the "back up" heater in the kitchen, so I don't know if things got a little chilly over-night because these were not used. (These options are all explained in the guest information sheet sent to each guest in advance of their visit.) As a result of your observation, I think I will start placing extra blankets in the closets during the winter, just in case! And, I would "second" your comment about the incredible scenery on the road to Sedona...it is beautiful and makes the short drive to West Sedona fly by. Thanks for staying with us, and hope to have you back in the future.

Guest: Candace & Marshall NY (Roxbury NY)
Date of Stay: 11/18/11 Review Submitted: 12/01/11

Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to stay in Cornville at your quaint little cottage. It was a peaceful place to retreat after days of touring, hiking and shopping. We'd start the woodstove each nite and sip a glass of local wine. The place is immaculate and the setting " just what we needed'. We also met some very nice people in Cornville. Hope to visit again and we've already referred to our friends. Thanks again, Marshall & Candace NY

Owner response:Candace...Sounds like you really figured out how to enjoy the cottage and surrounding environs! It is a very friendly community and the cottage has a "retreat" feel that is hard to describe...but you did a great job! I'm glad you had a wonderful stay...this is what we always wish for our guests. Referrals are welcome and appreciated, and we would love to have you back. Warm regards, Audre

Peaceful, relaxing and much more than I expected

Guest: TravelbugBridget (Durham, Maine)
Date of Stay: 09/17/11 Review Submitted: 09/22/11

My mother and I spent an amazing four days at Allie's Acre and couldn't have imagined a better place to stay. The house is welcoming, cozy and spacious all at the same time. It's only a short driving distance to Sedona and the surrounding communites, which allowed us to get out and enjoy the area without spending all of our time in the car. The added bonus to Allie's Acre is the lush, green landscape that is a stark contradiction to the typical arid, desert surroundings of North Central Arizona. I would stay here again in a heartbeat if I ever return to this area.

Owner response:I am so glad you enjoyed your time at the cottage, Bridget! We really enjoy sharing our space with guests (I know that sounds a little odd...but the cottage is so special, we hate leaving it vacant for several weeks a month when we are in Santa Fe!). And when someone appreciates it as much as you and your mom...it makes it even better! We would love to have you back any time. Warm regards, Audre

Guest: Misti (CA)
Date of Stay: 07/03/11 Review Submitted: 08/30/11

Audre, you already know how much I love the cottage! As for the guests reading this, take time to just sit and enjoy. I loved sitting on the patio with a glass of wine, listening to the thunder and waiting for the rain!! I was, at first, disappointed at how "far" the red rocks seemed, yet it didn't take me long to appreciate how close it is to everything!! I pray that all who visit here feel the peace in the cottage.

What a great place to stay! We had a great time. We saw all the highlights around the area. The Castle and Well were amazing (Montezuma's). Also, the petroglyphs. Harry's Hideaway was good food and we sat and talked to a couple of local characters, which was very entertaining. We would definitely come again. Thanks for everything!

Wonderful Cottage

Guest: Marie (Sewickley, PA)
Date of Stay: 04/02/11 Review Submitted: 04/15/11

We had a wonderful week in the Sedona area and loved coming back to your beautiful cottage each day. It felt like our home for a week. The location was perfect for all our red rock hiking, touring of the Indian Ruins, and exploring. We really loved how quiet it was around the cottage, the cute goats and having the creek nearby. So, much nicer than staying at a resort.Thank you for sharing.

Owner response:Marie...I am so glad you had such an enjoyable time! We love that people are so happy with the location, as some people worry that it is too far from Sedona (15-20 min.). Then, we hear how much they love the scenic drive, and that they explored things in Clarkdale, Jerome, or other places near the cottage that they would have never visited, otherwise! I have had a wonderful experience sharing my home with vacationers like you...who become more friends than guests! Glad you got home safely...and hope to have you back at the cottage someday!! Audre

Great location and peaceful

Guest: Anonymous
Date of Stay: 03/12/11 Review Submitted: 05/01/11

This cottage is very convenient to all we wanted to do this trip to Sedona, including Jerome and the train. Page Springs Winery is worth a visit, as well as the fish hatchery just down the road. Great little restaurants nearby; loved the german place (Manzanita) in town. This neighborhood is on the green belt with lots of trees and a huge yard for the pets. The cottage is small, but very peaceful and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to stay away from the craziness of Sedona.

Owner response:We enjoyed having a "NM Neighbor" experience our "little slice of heaven" in AZ! So glad you enjoyed the central location and our large yard. The latter is often a surprise to my guests, even though they saw it in the pictures, it didn't "register" with them that the cottage is situated on an acre of grass with about 20 trees! Really reduces the heat in the summer...a gift from the trees! While the cottage is small (1000 sq. ft., approx), people are often surprised that there is a living room/ dining area, kitchen, bath, master bedroom, and a TV room/2nd bedroom with its own outside entrance and french doors at the entry from the living room . Because of the price, several people thought it was going to be all one room, like a little efficiency apartment. So they thought it was big, LOL. The two outside patios I've added give additional "living space" Spring-Fall. Was enjoying coffee out on the back patio in my "jammies" just this morning!

I spent many more visits at "Wisdom of the Earth" [the essential oils company I own with a business partner in Page Springs] learning and smelling the essential oils to the point of euphoria! Thank you, thank you, thank you...many blessings and love and hope to be back.

We just returned from staying at "Allies Acres" We were lucky enough to stay over Thanksgiving weekend and it felt like home. We didn't want to leave! The Cottage is very well appointed, very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect for exploring the Northern Arizona area. You are "smack dab" in the middle of so many magical and wonderful places to see. We always looked forward to coming back to the cottage to relax and plan our next outing. Audre is very friendly and accomodating. If you want a very private, comfortable, carefree, GREAT location in Northern Arizona - do stay here!!!

Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We love the simplicity and serenity of our cottage, and are so pleased that our guests do, too! I think that being out a little ways from Sedona encourages you to explore some of the wonderful places that are "off the beaten path", like Jerome, the wineries that dot Page Springs Road, the Indian ruins that surround our area, and the great little local "mom & pop" restaurants less than a mile from our cottage. .

We enjoyed the neighborhood and all the four-leggeds around us. We even saw an entire family (5) of javalinas. Harry's Hideaway was a favorite stop for us -- the food is very good. We had a very relaxing 3 nights at the cottage as we explored the Sedona Area for the first time. The interior setting is charming, tasteful and comfortable -- all the conveniences of one's home with the added bonus of being able to enjoy another's decorating tastes! Having a lush, green environment to take my dog on her morning walks was also a plus. We retreated indoors to relax in the coolness of the house after our outings. We do appreciate the peacefulness of the neighborhood (and the goats). Warm and friendly people, sweet and comfortable cottage...Sedona & Audre's home rental have been great.

Excerpt from Guest Comment Book 10/29-11/4/09 visit Thank you for a wonderful vacation. Can't wait to come back!! Your little home is so comfortable, quiet and beautifully decorated. The Sedona experience was awesome! Loved Cottonwood (Nic's and Tavern Grille) and Cornville is the quietest, homey-feeling town!

Thank you for the use of your lovely cottage. We stepped in the first time and it was as if we came home. What a beautiful area to be in. This is a great spot for two friends to just BE. Theresa One phone conversation between two friends and a fabulous idea equals a truly relaxing vacation. Other variables thrown into the mix, such as massage, good food, good souls, make it incomparable!! Laureen
