Located on the quiet beach area of Boca del Rio, just a 10 minute stroll from the centre of San Pedro Town, is the privately owned and rented Casa Caracol. Set over two floors this beautiful house can accommodate from 2 to 14 people and provides all the comforts of home.
We have the flexibility to cater to Large Groups offering the Whole House with five bedrooms and four bathrooms or for cost effectiveness we can shut off part of the house offering smaller groups either The Upstairs : Two bedroom, two bathroom or The Downstairs : Three bedroom, two bathroom depending on your numbers.
Each floor provides a large living/dining room with patio doors to the spacious balconies which overlook the Caribbean Sea and have hammocks, patio and sun furniture. All rooms have ceiling fans and air conditioning.
If you intend to cater for yourself during your stay each floor has a fully equipped kitchen, and local catering services can be arranged on request. Housekeeping services are provided during your stay.
As the owners (Phil and Marie) live nearby you are assured their full attention during your stay and they can help organize any services or activities you require. The swimming pool and bar of a nearby family hotel are available to Casa Caracol guests.

Recently 2 friends and myself rented out the downstairs of Casa Caracol. The house was right on the beach and a short 5-10min walk to town. The pictures posted do accurately show the house as it is. Air-conditioning was definitely needed this time of year! Phil was available to help us with all of our questions, booked us a fantastic tour and within 10 minutes was able to get a golf cart to cruise around the island. He was great and very knowledgeable with everything "Belize". My friends and I arrived on the 20th of Sept, Independence Day, and the island was just about to get ready for their biggest day of the year. A block party that started early in the evening and went until after 1am was a good time. We enjoyed the food, sites and sounds on our first day. I especially liked the live music in the street. The entire town seemed shut down the following day and a parade made its way up and down the streets. Overall it was a lot of fun and interesting to see; even my friends found a way to get included in the action and danced in part of the parade! Way to go Lois and Igor!! We spent our 3rd day relaxing by the pool a few doors down from the house. In high season it may have been a little better, but the bar was closed this week. There was, however, a nice worker who ran for beers for us. That night, Phil had passed the word on to a friend to stop by the house with lobster tails and we had a delicious dinner at home on the bbq, another nice feature that Casa Caracol has to offer. The 4th day Phil got us the golf cart. We had a little trouble navigating the island on the north side since it had rained the night before and the streets are not paved. You are only allowed to go so far before you have to turn around. We stopped at a yoga retreat, Ak' bol, and had the best breakfast of the week! We headed over to the south side of the island and you can see a change in the architecture and what makes this island charming. There were a lot of small shops but unfortunately, with the holiday week and off season, it seems that a lot were closed. Our last full day was our favorite as we headed out on the El Gato Catamaran. It was an amazing trip that took us to the marine reserve Hol Chan, Caye Caulker and to Shark Alley. Highly recommendable! Overall, the island was an experience and Phil provided wonderful hospitality. The house is exactly what we expected. The island is great if you want peace and quiet, diving and some local flavor. I just returned from a 7 day stay at Casa Caracol. Phil, the owner was very helpful every step of the way from the time I contacted him to request information through the last day of my stay. The property is as advertised. The location is particularly excellent, we where easy walking distance to multiple dive shops (Phils reccomendation for a local dive shop was spot on), markets etc. One should not expect "Like New" or "Luxury 5 star" accomodations when staying here or you might be dissapointed. Location, Location, Location, good value for your dollar(s),clean and reasonable, and an honest and responsive and helpful owner that is not trying to oversell or nickel and dime you is what to expect.

Our family took our first trip to Belize July 3-10, 2011 and we stayed at Casa Caracol. Casa Caracol was the perfect place for our family! The 5 bedrooms allowed the 10 adults to have a bed, and the 4 kids were able to sleep on the pullout couches. The location was perfect, right on the beach and just off the north end of the town of San Pedro. This allowed for easy walking to restaurants and shops, and for relaxing walks along the beach. Our family participated in many day trips, amainland trip to go zipling & cave tubing, a snorkle trip to Hol Chan Park & Shark Ray Alley, a Scuba dive trip to the Blue Hole (one of my Bucket List dives!), and a mainland trip to the Mayan ruins at Lamani. Our host Phil, was able to schedule all of these trips for us so that we had nothing to worry about. He was even able to schedule the Lamani trip at our request late one night so that we could go the next day! I would highly recommend Casa Caracol for your vacation, it is a perfect place if you want to just relax by the beach, or do a variety of avtivities like our family chose to do. Phil & Marie are very gracious hosts, and will make your stay at Casa Caracol an enjoyable experience! We plan on staying with them at Casa Caracol on any future trips that we take to Ambergris Caye! Our trip to San Pedro in July, 2011 was a very special family trip including all the kids and grandkids. So choosing the right place to stay was very important. After days of searching websites we decided on Casa Caracol. After wandering about the town for a few days we all came to the same conclusion. Casa Caracol is THE best place to stay on the entire island. The location is wonderful. It is close to restaurants, stores and shops. Yet it is not right in the middle of everything and is very relaxing. Sitting on the porches and looking out onto the ocean is truly a tropical paradise. There was a constant refreshing ocean breeze blowing. We only used the air conditioners at night. The house is very spacious and Duly, the housekeeper keeps everything very neat and clean. We rented both the top and bottom floors as there were 9 of us. However we spent a good amount of time together on the lower floor and porch and never felt cramped. And we cannot say enough about the owners. Phil was the most gracious host. He arranged our transportation to and from San Pedro and the house. There he met with us and gave us a quick overview of the town and answered any questions. He also will arrange tours, activities, etc. for you for no additional fee, simply as a service for his guests. The kids wanted to rent jet skis one day and he was able to arrange to have them delivered to the neighboring dock within a couple of hours. It really put our minds at ease to have someone helping us navigate this trip as it was our first time traveling to this country.We had an amazing week in San Pedro and highly recommend Casa Caracol. If we are fortunate enough to visit Belize again we already know where we will stay!

Amazing stay at the Casa Caracol

If you are like me, you are probably reading through these reviews trying to decide on where to stay while you are in San Pedro. When I first found the Casa Caracol, there weren't too many reviews, but the price was amazing compared to other properties, so we took a chance and booked it. Let me tell you, it was the best decision we made. The Casa Caracol is a simple, yet beautiful house that sits right on the beach. There is a pool, a beach bar and Patojo's Scuba shop all just a few steps from the house. We had the bottom level which consists of 3 bedrooms all with air conditioning, a full kitchen and living area, 2 bathrooms and a programmable safe for your valuables. The house is cleaned every couple of days by a sweet lady named Duly. Phil, the owner, is an outstanding and honest gentleman who doesn't just take care of your every need at the house. He will also arrange flights to and from the island, pick you up/drop you off at the San Pedro airstrip, any tours you want to do, dive trips, you name it. Once you book your stay at the Casa Caracol, you only have to arrange your flight to Belize international, and then from there he takes care of the rest. (minus your restaurant and bar tabs, of course.) We mostly did dive trips (amazing), and a few in our group took a tour back to Lamanai on the mainland. We even wanted to cruise around the island in a golf cart, and Phil promptly had the carts delivered to the house. They even picked them up from the house when we were done! All we had to let him know what we wanted to do and he arranged it immediately. You don't have to pay for everything upfront either. Phil will arrange everything for you, then at the end of your stay, he will present you with a bill that you can pay with your debit or credit card so there is no need to keep running to and from the ATM. Another thing to note is that he does not charge any additional fee for this service. It's all included as you being his guest! Then again, once you arrive at the Casa Caracol, you may just want to do nothing at all except relax. There's no other feeling quite like waking up and opening the patio doors to be greeted by the sun, blue waters and a fresh ocean breeze. We spent days and nights just sitting on the porch relaxing and taking in the view. Whatever you decide to do while here, that's up to you. But my experience with Phil and this property totally exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this property to anyone going to San Pedro.

My family and I rented the downstairs of Casa Caracol in January and had a wonderful time. When we were researching places to stay I had a hard time finding reliable reviews for the house so I was a little nervous. The owner, Phil, addressed our concerns but I was very relieved when we arrived and found that the house served our needs really well. The location of Casa Caracol is great. You're not right in the middle of town, so it's not as hectic and noisy, but after a ten minute walk you'll find yourself already at the south end of the downtown area. The house is right on the beach, with a sand road the only thing that separates you from the water. It was wonderful to wake up and sit out on the porch every morning, watching the sunrise over the water and the local kids walking to school. Casa Caracol is also located next to Pantojo's Scuba Center, which is a great convenience if you want to dive during your stay. My family made a number of dives with Pantojo and highly recommend him and his crew. As soon as we arrived Phil oriented us to the island and gave us tips to make our stay more enjoyable. He was also available to arrange things such as tours, flights, and taxis, which freed us up from having to deal with those details. I wasn't expecting that so it was a nice touch. We made and ate almost all of our meals at the house. We found the kitchen to be adequately stocked to prepare and cook these meals. The only suggestion is that it would have been nice to have better knives (we chopped a lot of fruits, vegetables, and fresh fish). Duly, the housekeeper, is very sweet and she made sure the house was clean and that we had fresh towels for both the bathroom and for the beach. She also did several loads of laundry for us, which was well worth the additional charge. I would definitely stay at Casa Caracol again if I ever have the chance to return to Ambergris. The only complaint by my family is that the couches in the living room are getting worn and not very comfortable. Phil had informed us before we arrived that he is planning on replacing those soon. Since you have an amazing view from the lounge chairs on the porch we rarely sat inside so it wasn't much of an issue.
