I stayed at Casa Colonial at the end of August 2010 for about a week. The home is located on the block right behind the old Los Arcos Hotel which is not currently open due to a labor strike. I try to visit La Paz at least every other year to fish out at Las Arenas. I stayed at the home with two of my cousins and it was very spacious for the three of us. The air conditioning worked great but it is only in the bedrooms which was not a problem for us since we were out fishing in the daytime and spent the afternoons in the pool which is shaded by a mature lime tree. The house has a brick exterior and has thick walls which helps keep it relatively cool even in August. The owner has a caretaker that is very helpful and can help you get around La Paz and make some nice recommendations if you are a first time visitor. All of the beds were comfortable and the master bedroom is very nice. The kitchen has all of the utensils you might need during your stay. I would recommend this place to family and friends. I was also able to receive an XM radio signal with my portable XMp3i receiver, Bose speaker, and standard antenna in the pool area which was nice when we returned from fishing for the day. If I could change or improve one thing it would be to add a full sized freezer so that a group of fishermen could have something more than just the over the refrigerator freezer to put fish into. All in all I would rate it 4.5 out of 5 but only because it lacks the freezer space and most people don't need it but it would be nice and potentially attract a new group of customers.

My family of four spent a week at this house in April 2010. It was everything the description claimed it to be. The price is very reasonable for what you get. The pool is a key feature especially for children. It is not heated, so we would wait till the late morning or afternoon to take the girls swimming. It also provides an essential alternative to the beaches in the area, which are OK but require getting in the car and driving. The house made of heavy stone stays cool in the summer heat. It was fairly quiet and the neighborhood had a good feel. The location of the house is also excellent, in a more well-off area close to the Malecon. In the middle of our vacation we had to move to another house in a smaller area because Casa Colonial had already been booked for the second week of our visit. This second house was in a less desirable location and had no pool, and the quality of our vacation took a nosedive. The manager Brian is very helpful and responsive, and always available for questions. I highly recommend this house. If you have questions about La Paz with children, Brian can give you my e-mail. - Anna

My friends and I stayed here for three nights in late October before our week-long kayak on Espiritu Santo Island and we LOVED it! This house was so much fun. Very unique. Tons of character and history. I loved the decor, the high ceilings, the wood shutters, the spaciousness with all the cozy nooks and crannies, and especially the backyard and pool. Being in the center of town made it easy and fun to walk to the market for tacos or to pick up more supplies for cocktails by the pool. I am so glad my first contact, a boring modern house outside the city, flaked on me. Casa Colonial made our vacation so much more of an adventure. We were thrilled the moment we walked through the door. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

My husband and I, along with two other couples, recently stayed at the Casa Colonial in La Paz (end of Oct.). We had a delightful stay and thoroughly enjoyed this historic home. It was centrally located, near restaurants, waterfront, and downtown. The best part was the lovely, relaxing back yard. We swam each day and set outside appreciating the beautiful shrubs and fruit trees. We even picked fresh limes for our Marguritas! We would definately stay here again and recommend it to all.

My Husband and two daughters had a wonderful stay at Casa Colonial in July. We loved it! The house, garden and pool were much more then we expected. The garden was a beautiful place to relax- a quiet oasis. The house was full of character. It was easy to walk around town and to the waterfront. We love La Paz and the next time we visit we want to stay at Casa Colonial.

My husband and I stayed a week at Casa Colonial and truly enjoyed it! It was comfortable and relaxing. The outside patio area was where we had our "happy hour" and relaxed with a cool breeze and a glass of wine. The proximity to town and the waterfront was great. We could walk everywhere! We would definitely go there again!

A great house in a wonderful city.We were 4 adults staying 2 weeks and really enjoyed this house with so much character. The back garden is very peaceful with a swimming pool and the sound of birds especially first thing in the morning outside having coffee was unforgetable.Highly recommended and we plan to return to Casa Colonial.
