Welcome to our summer home at the Sandbar in West Alton on beautiful Lake Winnipesauke. While the Sandbar property has been in our family for over 100 years, we have recently completed construction of a 2200 SF 4 bedroom, 3-bath log home. In designing the new home our goal was to preserve the historic flavor, build a new home that blends attractively into the surrounding area and still create a living environment of quality and comfort, equipped with contemporary amenities. The home is located on a one acre lot with 275 feet of frontage for maximum privacy. The sandy bottom shoreline with a gradual drop off, makes for a great swimming area for the kids. We invite you to enjoy a vacation at the Sandbar and believe you will find it a fun and unique vacation destination in the lakes region.
The first floor has four rooms in an open floor concept. It lends itself to a comfortable flow from room to room while also allowing for separate groupings in different areas. The large kitchen/dining area is 18X24 and the nine-foot high ceilings give a sense of spaciousness. There are granite countertops with custom cabinets above and below. There are four barstools around the kitchen island. The dining room table seats 10. The kitchen/dining area has French doors opening to the screened porch that is only 20 feet from the lake.
The family room, with a cathedral ceiling to a height of 30’, is the focal point of the house. It is 28X20 including the entry way under the loft. The massive granite fireplace with comfortable seating, makes for a very relaxing setting.
On the other side of the family room is the 18X16 TV/game room. The French doors from this room lead to an open deck looking over the beach with a southeastern view of the lake. All first floor rooms have panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. There is also a full bath and laundry on the first floor.
The second floor master bedroom has a ¾ bath and a king size bed. The second bedroom has a queen bed plus a set of bunks. The loft area has a very comfortable single sofa bed. There is also an additional ¾ bath on the second floor. These rooms also offer great lakeside views. There are 2 lower level bedrooms, one with twin beds and one with a queen. Additional sleeping capacity is afforded by the trundle bed for two in the beach cabana. The cabana is a 12X12 log sided bunkhouse located right on the beach. It offers extra privacy for kids or grownups just wanting to get away from the crowd.
The interior amenities include (6) TVs, including one on the beach so you don’t have to choose between the beach and the game, wireless high-speed Internet access, VCR and DVD players and stereo. On the outside there is abundant deck and beach furniture, 2 kayaks a paddle boat and an aluminum rowboat. There is also a gas grill and a self-contained fire pit. The 30’ dock will accommodate boats to 20’
The Sandbar is still our family vacation home. We only rent a few weeks each year. When we do rent, we do not remove all our personal belongings and family momentos. The house is equipped with basic kitchen, bath and cleaning supplies. We encourage you to enjoy our home to the fullest while keeping in mind it contains the cherished artifacts of our family history. We will also provide bed linens and bath towels for up to 10 people for an additional $75 fee. We do not provide beach towels.
The rental rate does not include the $250 cleaning fee.

Our stay at The Sandbar was fantastic. The pictures provided accurately reflect what a great house and property this is. The house is beautiful inside and well-maintained. The beach was wonderful for our little kids and the sandbar was fun to anchor on so we could be in the sun well into the evening. Everything that you need is provided and the owners are a pleasure to deal with. We have already booked our week for next summer!

The location and house were fantastic. The beach, The boat dock and the attatched sand bar are a large asset to the property and make it woth another stay. The house, two bedrooms upstairs are beautiful. The living space and porches and views are excellent. The two bedrooms and bath downstairs leave us needing more. for the cost of the rental at peak the lower level accomodations need to be more refined, especially the bathroom. Otherwise i would recommend this property, we had a fantastic week and did not want to leave. Hope we will be back next year.......

I appreciate you posting your thoughts as it is most important to me, to accurately present the property to prospective guests, and honest reviews are certainly a great value. The lower bedrooms are accurately pictured on my VRBO listing. They are 12X12 in size. They are neat and clean and have comfortable beds with TVs in each room. They do offer a certain amount of privacy, being away from the main living area. We have installed room darkening shutters and have found it a good location for small children needing daytime naps. It is however, a finished basement with a cement floor and certainly lacks the ambiance of the upper floors. The half bath on the lower level was in fact, an after thought, primarily used for easy access off the beach and night time use. When we use the house, people sleeping on the lower level, use the full bath on the first floor as their bathroom. I do hope that the limitations of the lower level will not prevent this guest from returning another year

We had a wonderful 10 days in mid-June. The home is beautiful and very nicely appointed. We found everything we needed and then some. We took our own boat and having it attached to the dock was perfect. Smallmouth fishing was awesome, wakeboarding in the evenings with perfect glass like water! Take your boat to Wolfesboro for dinner or shopping during the day! What a great experience! We will definitely be back!

We just got home from the Sandbar. We had a wonderful week. Everything was great. Hopefully we can visit again some day. All week long, we just kept looking around saying, "this is unbelievable". It really is. The home is better than anyone could expect and the view was spectacular. We had perfect weather. Thanks for opening up your vacation home to us. We had a week full of happy memories.

Beautiful home! Great beach! Spectacular views! You get it all at SANDBAR. The house was everything the listing said, even better. This was one of our BEST family vacations ever! We felt like we were staying in a house right out of a magazine. It was beautiful and the views are spectacular. The sandy beach is wonderful and the kayaks, rowboat and paddle boat were so much fun to use. The teenage kids slept out in the cabana and felt like they had their own house. It was so relaxing and we felt like we didn't even need to leave the house. Everything was right at our doorstep. It is even more beautiful than the pictures show on the website. I would love to go back.

The house and setting were as beautiful as advertised, and the owner was very courteous and helpful. I would recommend it without hesitation. The driveway is steep but paved, and you do get used to it. There is a great private beach for small children -- a very pleasant experience for the whole family.
