The Midcoast is perhaps the best place to start exploring Maine's 5,000 miles of coastline including it's numerous inlets, fishing villages and bays along with over 2,000 islands. Locally Wyeth landscapes abound and with the Olson House and the Farnsworth Museum just a few miles from the cottage. Other nearby attractions are a ferry to Monhegan Island, perhaps the most beautiful of Maine's islands. Great shops, restaurants, lighthouses and parks are a short distance away. Other activities in the area are whale watching, puffin boat rides along with helicopter, glider and plane rides. Experience a cruise aboard one of Maine's historic windjammers and explore the islands and lighthouses. There are nearby lakes for swimming and boating. Mountains are at the edge of the sea for climbing. Acadia Natl. Park, the nation's second most popular park is about two hrs. away. New England's largest botanical coastal gardens are nearby. Dining on the Midcoast is outstanding. Enjoy the local seafood in an informal setting sitting outdoors on a dock or choose an intimate setting in a sophisticated dining room that offers world-class cuisine. Lobster, crabs, mussels and clams along with finfish can often be purchased fresh off the boat. Some of the best shopping can be found in Camden and Rockland. Explore dozens of shops filled with treasures of all kinds. If an adventure is what you are after, this is the place to find it. If it's a quiet time you are seeking this is the place. Bring a good book and sit by the water's edge and relax to the sound of gulls passing overhead. The Maine coast is a jewel which includes Penobscot Bay, considered by many to be the most scenic body of water on the Atlantic coast. Don't miss it's treasures.

Why the Owner Chose Cushing
The rocky coast of Maine is a natural wonder. Looking out to the ledges and watching the seals sun themselves is just a part of why we chose this location and love sharing it with others.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Located at the end of a dirt road it is very quiet and peaceful. If you like to kayak, you have the perfect place here on the cove. If you like more adventure, just paddle out to the open ocean and catch a more exciting ride.
Nestled just sixty five feet from the water's edge, the view is lovely and ever changing. The sparkle of the water is magic. The osprey love to fish here and we often see our bald eagles fly past or perch in the tree.
It's a great place to read a good book, or just sit and relax.
Location of Owls Head Light House and spetacular views of the open Atlantic.

The property is owned by Helen and Merritt Webster. After living in several states over the years including N.Y. Pa. and TX. Helen retired to her favorite state, Maine. Maine is land of peace and beauty. One of Helen's passions is cooking. She and Merritt are both avid gardeners and have created beautiful gardens on the property. Merritt is a native Mainer with sea-salt in his blood with many generations of sailors and fishermen preceding him. He loves anything to do with the water and also enjoys woodworking. We both love nature and soak up as much as we can. We enjoy meeting new friends and look forward to meeting all our guests.
Living nearby, we are available to meet your needs and love to share our extensive knowledge of the area with our guests.

We can’t say enough nice things about our experience at Cove’s Edge. Helen and Merritt were helpful, interesting, and gracious hosts. I was so taken with the coziness and design of the cottage that I am considering doing a near copy for a renovation I am doing. The restaurants in the area are excellent from diner to upscale. The Owl’s Head Transportation Museum was a nice rainy afternoon visit (very cool vintage cars and airplanes). The drive to Mount Battie (Camden State Park) lookout gives a breathtaking view of Penobscot Bay. If you like art, don’t miss the Farnsworth Museum, the Olson House, and the many galleries around. These are some of the fun things to do around the Rockland/Camden area. But sitting in the Adirondack chairs next to Broad Cove watching the wildlife (all kinds of water birds, bald eagle, seals), or watching out the panoramic kitchen table window, is relaxing in itself. I was so decompressed after our vacation that my boss asked me if something was wrong with me.

Cove's Edge is peaceful, charming, beautiful, picturesque and postcard perfect! Hosts, Helen and Merritt are very gracious, thoughtful and helpful. The location is wonderful for taking scenic day trips and for buying local seafood and returning to the cottage....cooking and eating there while you enjoy the stunning waterfront view and the beautiful gardens surrounding the cottage! If you like the artist, Andrew Wyeth, this is the place to be. The Olson House, where he painted "Christina's World" is only several miles down the road. The Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, which houses some of his works, is close by as well. Cove's Edge was actually better than it is viewed on the internet....a rare find! You will feel refreshed and grateful that you chose the most perfect spot for a delightful vacation- one of our best vacations and the fondest of memories....Thanks Helen and Merritt!!!!

We have just returned from a one week stay at this lovely cottage and surrounding area. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, the cottage comfortable and adequately furnished and equipped for a relaxing vacation. The most difficult part was leaving this amazing area but we hope to return to the cottage and it's hospitable hosts Helen and Merritt Webster for more wonderful memories. Thank you both! This is a very lovely vacation area. The cabin is surrounded by a beautiful garden and is just a few yards from the sea. It is a wonderful place if you are in need of a rest or if you like swimming and canoeing. The surrounding coast area is full of places to explore. Helen and Merritt Webster are generous and gracious hosts and made us feel very welcome. It is within driving distance from the nearest town but if you are staying for several days, you would be advised to bring provisions although there is a small general store nearby. The cabin is equipped with very good stove, fridge and microwave oven. We visited there in July, 2010 and would visit again if possible.

Charming cottage, lovely people who pay attention to their gardens and cottage. Helen and Merrill answered all our questions about where to go, what to do and even provided pots for us to cook lobsters. Though there are many delightful day trips close by, we found it hard to leave the tranquility of Cove's Edge. The property has been accurately described and we'd return in a hearbeat if it wasn't such a distance from Colorado!

My husband and I stayed last June. I loved the cabin. The wood and the decor. It rained all week long but I still loved the peace of getting up early sitting in the rocking chair by the big window. Just looking at the tranquility all around you. You have everything you can possibly need. For cooking, the shower, the bed. Close to so many little towns and restaurants. For us the best part was buying lobsters from the fish market (they steam it while you wait),Bought home made lobster bisque from same place and then going to our cottage and have a cozy dinner with the water views. The owners could not have been any nicer. The nearby town of Port Clyde was lovely. Looking forward for a next visit because I can just imagine how pretty the roses rugosa outside the cottage and the sunshine while sitting on my favorite spot (the bottom of the stairs looking at the tranquility of the water) So many beautiful memories,it was hard to leave. .
