Lighthouse View Estates are settled at the base of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range and directly across the street from the Pacific Ocean.
The setting provides a unique glimpse of the Central Coast. South of the Villa, on the coast, is a popular spot to view some oceanic wildlife such as, but not limited to, Elephant Seals, Sea Otters, and Sea Lions.
Not only can visitors thoroughly enjoy the beautiful scenery, there are also plenty of attractions for the more architecturally minded. Two miles south of the Villas is the Piedras Blancos Lighthouse and Station. (This lighthouse is visible from the Villa bedroom.) Located six miles south of the Lighthouse View Estates is the Historic Hearst Castle. Tours are available. Located directly across from the castle is another Historic Building by the name of Sebastion's Store. Wine tasting, golfing, shopping, and great restaurants are only a drive away, as well! Ten miles north of the villa is Ragged Point and then Big Sur.

THE MOST WONDERFUL & BEAUTIFUL PLACE WE EVER RENTED!!
THE MOST WONDERFUL & BEAUTIFUL PLACE WE EVER RENTED!!

We came for a family vacation and everyone had the best time! The home we rented was gorgeous and very finely appointed. The other review that I read had me hesitant but we are glad that we went ahead and booked. They must have come on an off weekend because we had no issues. The home, the decor and the ocean and mountain views were nothing short of spectacular! It is also pet friendly and that made a difference to us when we decided to rent. We would recommend these villas to anyone who wants to stay in a exquisite place with million dollar views.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.

What a house!

We've been renting vacation properties for years, and this is one of the best places we've ever found. The house is big, but still warm, inviting, and very comfortable. There's lots of space, so you're not all bunched together in the same place. The master bath is amazing, and the kitchen is big with lots of space to spread out and work. You're close enough to the ocean to hear the waves at night. And there's Hearst Castle nearby and the charming town of Cambria if you need to run to the store for supplies. There are only two drawbacks, and depending on your needs you may never notice them. One is the remoteness. The location has poor cell coverage, and really bad internet access that you are charged extra for but with wifi coverage so poor in our home that it was almost worthless. I understand that internet service in a location so remote is a challenge, but to be charged for something that's not really useable is adding insult to injury. My advice - if you're coming here be prepared to be off the grid. (And aren't we all a little too hooked on Facebook anyway?) The other drawback is minor, and you won't even notice it depending on how much cooking you do. It's the kitchen. Yes, it looks fabulous, but it isn't always stocked as well as you might like. You'll find the basics - pots and pans, plates and bowl, forks and knives, but don't expect a lot beyond that. Surprising, really, given the granite surfaces and higher end appliances, including a wine cooler. You'll still be able to create wonderful meals, but plan ahead if you think you'll need a specific tool or device. Oh, and if you have pets, this place is perfect. Our poodles were instantly at home, and with the tile floors they were cool and happy. We had a great time here, and I hope to return again soon.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities.

My family and I rented one of the villas for our Christmas holiday last year. The villa was beautiful and even better than we expected. Every one of the bedrooms had a fireplace which made it so cozy. The gourmet kitchen was fanstastic, and the master bedroom shower was incredible! One of our favorite things was being able to wake up in the morning and hear the ocean waves. Even though we had 8 people staying there, the house was large enough for everyone to have thier own space, with fantastic common areas for gathering. We also found many things to do in the area like seeing the elephants seals, visiting Hearst Castle, and walking around the cute town of Cambria. I must admit the part of the vacation we enjoyed the most was relaxing at the Villa. We had such a wonderful time we are returning again this year for the holidays with my husband's family!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: We love wonderful reviews and need them to keep our villas active. Repeat visitors are the mainstay of our business and just knowing that people had a great time relaxing/partying with family and friends makes everything worthwhile.

The location and setting are very nice & tranquil. The houses themselves are nice also. However, it is obvious they were never intended to be rental properties - they are not equipped with the basic amenities you would expect. And they are not maintained well. We stayed the rear villa. The villas are relatively remote (nearest grocery store is about 20 mi), so we arrived with all of the food we would need for the week, for 10 people. Traveling from L.A., about a 4 hour drive, our food was packed with dry ice to keep it fresh. We brought EVERYTHING - from meats and vegetables, to ice cream. After loading all of the food into the fridge and freezer, the temperature kept creeping higher. By the first evening, it was apparent there was a problem, so we called management. By the next afternoon, they sent a repairman who could not do anything. By this point, we were losing food - the fridge and freezer were over 60 degrees. We had to take everything we had left that was unspoiled, put it back in ice chests and drive 15 miles to go get ice. NOT A GOOD START TO A VACATION. On the second night, at 8:30 P.M., a real repairman finally showed up and got the fridge fixed by about 10 P.M. Also, the satellite TV didn't work. After a couple hours of trouble-shooting & phone calls with Dish Network, we got it to work intermittently (very intermittently). If you plan on staying here, don't plan on watching the big game, or any TV - you will be very frustrated. Beyond these issues, the place was very dirty. Many things looked like they hadn't been dusted in months - you know when you run your finger across a table and it's just caked with dust? That's what many of the surfaces were like, including one of the bed headboards. There were mouse droppings on the tile floors and behind two of the beds. Outside the main doors to the patios, there were PILES of bird droppings - I don't mean a few - I mean piles that were probably nearly an inch thick! There were nests above the doors (that naturally nobody wants to disturb), but the droppings had not been washed away in weeks or months - you couldn't even walk out the door without having to avoid the piles. Towels? If you like them dirty and mismatched, you'll love these! Seriously, it looked like a collection of the towels we've thrown out over the last 10 years. Lots more I could say, but out of space... I would look elsewhere is you want a luxurious, care-free experience...Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: The Villas at Lighthouse View Estates are three lovely homes that are located in a rustic setting, backing to Hearst Ranch. The fact that there are birds, etc. is not surprising due to the country atmosphere of the villas. Being so close to nature and nurture, sun, sea and mountains, there are critters from time to time. That is the beauty of the location; it is also the drawback for some parties. Most guests find it charming. The appliances are all Top of the Line Dacor models and were designed for beauty and functionality. On this particular vacation period, the refrigerator ceased working. We had no former knowledge and could not prepare for the problem in advance. It was a Murphys Law moment. Due to the uniqueness of the product, we had to find a repair person who could work on the Cadillac of refrigerators. The fact that it was July Fourth did not help either. We fixed the problem on the first day and understood the inconvenience to our guests. Villas are professionally cleaned on an on-going basis and the exteriors are swept constantly as well. Although we do our best to maintain the homes, every group has different cleaning requirements and most find the properties to be well-maintained. We appreciate any feedback that we receive. We can learn from negative ones as well as positive ones, and look forward to receiving more guests in the future.

The location is very close to the beach. The house is pretty new and well maintained. The kitchen is state of the art. Because of the fire place being in all the bedrooms and living/family room, it is very convenient. We came in as a group of 10 people on Friday evening and was planing to stay till Monday Morning as we took 3 night rental. However, we had to cut short the visit and leave the place by Sunday evening primarily because of very poor Net connection. Some of us had LapTop with them and thought of checking on their work like couple of hours. But because the Net connection was nearly not working, it didn't help. I would strongly advise to the owner that there has to be a better way to handle this. We paid $10 per day for the connection and you can hardly even look into the email. Second suggestion is that it will be great to have a pool table so that people can get engaged that way as well. I had tried to contact the emergency contact number on the day we arrived because a kid fell and started bleeding a little bit. We were looking for first aid and could not locate. However, no one responded to our call. Another thing is that being a huge house, there is only one TV and that too a small sized TV for such huge Living room. Cell phone is not working inside the house. We had to walk 200 meters outside the house to make a phone call. If they had a good Modem to boost the net connection, we definitely would have enjoyed the stay more. Overall, we had a great vacation on a good location. But I felt it was too short.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, people with disabilities.

Our daughter and her husband rented this home November 20-27 for Thanksgiving. We joined them November 22-27, 2011. The kitchen is a dream as long as you don't plan a meal that requires any serving dishes. Had lots of plates, silverware and glasses. Only a few pans that looked like they were bought at WalMart. Not one serving dish...had one muffin pan, one cookie sheet, one 9 x 15 and two 8-in square baking pans, one mixing bowl set.....that is it. Nothing for our potatoes, turkey, bread, salads or such. No can opener, no spatulas, one wooden spoon, one pancakes turner...that is about it. The disherwasher had problems...the water sprayer fell off and the soap dispenser door is broke, The shower in one bedroom is nice and "roomy" only very little water from the shower head and it was hot water only, until a sudden brust of ice cold water with lots of pressure and then back to little hot water. Took forever to take a shower. The fireplace in the living room and one bedroom was very hard to get started. When you closed the refrigerator door, the freezer side would loose its seal. And lets not forget the ants we found in our sugar and on the counter by the sink. We had trouble with the gate, but that was taken care of. It was also disappointing to put steaks on the bbq and go to turn them over and find out that we were out of propane. It just didn't seem that these conditions should exist in such a pretty home or for that matter, any rental. The property was accurately reflected, clean and maintained. I would recommend this property only if these items were attended to.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.
Owner response: The wonderful thing about The Villas at Lighthouse View Estates are the magnificent ocean and mountain views, luxurious and sumptuous 3000 square feet of living space, 3-car garage, numerous fireplaces, gourmet kitchen and butler's pantry, and huge pampering baths. Because the homes are rented year-round, and are not catering to holiday guests only, there are some things that the homes do not come equipped with: such as turkey pans for Thanksgiving. We have no way of predicting the needs of each group of visitors. The kitchen is equipped with items that are used for basic meals, and we believe that our plates, pans and utensils are adequate for that use. Sometimes guests have asked us in advance about certain kitchen items and we always say the same thing: we stock the kitchen with the basics ... if a guest requires more than the ordinary cooking supplies, we usually recommend that they bring their own. We attempt to meet the needs of each guest. Guests are provided with 24-hour emergency contact telephone number and email addresses, which may be accessed in the event of a problem at the villa. During their vacation, the guests did not notify us of any situations, therefore, we had no way of knowing (until we read the review), that they had experienced any difficulties. The guests are return vacationers -- they spent a week at the the villa last year during Thanksgiving, and we were thrilled that they loved the home so much that they wanted to reunite there with their families. We appreciate any input because our goal is to make every vacation at Lighthouse View Estates a wonderful and memorable one. We respect our guests' comments, and we appreciate the positives ... and will definitely attend to the negatives. Respectfully, Jackie Turner, President, San Luis Rental Properties, Inc.

We've rented one of these villas two different times now. We love how clean, new and well-appointed the home is. It is perfect for a small family gathering. The location is beautiful, the home is spacious and comfortable. We taught our daughter how to ride her bike on the gated driveway!! Obviously we have fantastic memories of enjoying family time in a beautiful setting and I recommend these villas to anyone. Cambria is about a 15-20 minute drive and there are great restaurants and quaint shops there. The beach across Highway 1 is not accessible, but San Simeon State Beach isn't far. Between Cambria, Hearst Castle and the state beach, there is plenty to do during a weekend. Oh - by the way, this is a great house if you want a one story without stairs/steps. That was important for some of our family.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.

The house itself is very beautiful, and we had a great time spending the weekend there. However, the directions could have been better. We were told vaguely that the properties were off of Hwy 1, in San Simean, near Hearst Castle. The sign to the properties is very difficult to spot for first-timers, and even when we knew it was there, it is hard to read from the Highway. The problem was compounded by the fact that we got no physical address for the property from the rental agency, and they are unreachable on the weekend(no emergency number either). All that was needed was for the property manager to provide us an address, which we just hapened to stumble through a very ramdom Google search. Otherwise everything was very comfortable. Be warned, there is no grocery store or gas station for at least 7-10 miles.Owner response: The Villas at Lighthouse View Estates are in an exquisite private oceanview setting along the Cental Coast, and backing to Hearst Castle ranch.
