Located in Lake County, on California's largest natural lake known for its glittering night sky, Mallard House Cottages is the closest Bay Area residents can get to a classic East Coast summer vacation in the Adirondacks, only two hours away from San Francisco or Sacramento.
As part of Bell Haven, a three-and-one-half acre, fully-fenced, private family compound with a total of only 6 houses, you and the kids will also enjoy the recreation room, firepit and expansive grounds, meeting and making new friends around the fire at night is pretty common.
In the "rec room," you'll find a pool table, couches, TV with a VCR and over 250 movies and games. Just outside, the big firepit is surrounded by classic Adirondack Chairs, the perfect spot for S'mores and a glass of wine. A ping-pong table, croquet and lawn volleyball are all available if you'd like to round out the perfect day.
On the beach, you'll have use of kayaks, and rowboat, while the pier and brand-new dock extend into the lake over 300ft with the perfect platform for sunning, swimming, fishing or watching the sunset give way to a glittering night sky.
Hiking or swimming at Clear Lake State Park is a five minute drive or a ten minute kayak ride away, a nesting place for waterfowl of all kinds as well as Indian lore and a Pomo village. Just up the road is Konocti Harbor and Konocti Vista Casino, Sho-ka-wah Casino which is considerably larger is about a 40 minute drive. If golf is your game, Buckingham Golf & Country Club is also a short 10 minute car ride away.
Fishing, Boating, Golfing, Wine Tasting and Music - What Do You Want to Do?
And with some of the best bass fishing in the west, Clear Lake is the perfect spot to perfect your angling skills. Many a five-pounder (and some bigger!) have been caught right off our dock. In tournament season, you’ll see the bass boats sneaking under our pier in hopes of catching “the big one.” Anglers can catch large mouth bass, crappie, bluegill and channel catfish.

Why the Owner Chose Kelseyville
Having a vacation rental on Clearlake made sense to us because it was a place we always loved to come and stay. The feeling you get on our side of the lake is different than over on the developed side. The Soda Bay area in Kelseyville is more of a throwback to a quieter time, no crowds, no traffic, small eateries and quiet spaces.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
We love to hike Mt Konocti and watch the sunset, also roasting marshmallows at the firepit in the evening while meeting new people from around the country. But I think catching 7lb Bass from our dock at sunset is about as wonderful as it gets.

This is a great little market with a nice selection of all the basics. Chips, soda, beer, milk butter, eggs, etc. They also make fresh sandwiches and have some fishing tackle.
Great little town with lots of shops, winetasting, cafes, coffee shops, ice cream shops, drug store, hardware store and more.

We spent many summer vacations with family in Lakeport and on the Lake skiing. Years later, we were headed back up to the Lake for a family wedding. We wanted to look for a cottage to rent for the weekend for our family of 4, 2 adults, and 2 college+ children. How happily and pleasantly surprised we were finding Mallard Cottages in Bell Haven Resort! The grounds were beautiful, the caretakers both professional and friendly, and the cottage exactly as pictured and described. We felt welcomed and comfy and cozy. The canopies of trees and lush plants made for a wonderful, peaceful outdoor experience. The caretakers made sure we were all set and were available as needed, or unseen in the background meticulously maintaining. Communication with the owner and the handling of all paperwork was done seamlessly and professionally. We had the most amazing sunset on the Lake as well as enjoyed kayaking around the cove and swinging in the swing set. Our eventful days wound down to quiet, peaceful nights in the cottage. We didn't have time to enjoy a fire around the outdoor fireplace, but it is something we will do next time. We will definitely return to Mallard Cottages/Bell Haven Resort in the future. Thank you!

Feeling like you need a nap? Grab one of the lounge chairs down on the lakefront lawn and drift off to the sounds of gentle waves lapping at the shoreline. Feeling like some competition? Grab a pool cue, ping pong paddle or a volley ball and a few friends, (new or old), and have at it. Wanna kickback and watch a movie? The rec room has a TV with over 250 movies. If fishing or boating is your thing, our private, brand new dock extends out from shore an impressive 300ft, assuring your boat will be pampered for your entire stay. You are welcome to leave your boat tied up to our dock for your entire stay eliminating the need to launch every day. Our property is fully gated with a locking gate on the pier. Fishing in Soda Bay is thought by many to be the best fishing on the lake, and I've personally taken 7lb Bass right off the dock. Come on up and dip your toes in and see what lots of other folks already know. Mallard Cottages are a great place to head up to for a weekend or a week. Hi. My wife and I were looking to get away for a long weekend, and your cottages were the perfect place. Thankfully you do not accept pets, one of us is pretty allergic unfortunately, but with your places being pet free there wasn't any problems. The BBQ grill was put to good use, and the large TV and DVD player allowed us to just head up and be couch potatos for the weekend, although we did do some kayaking on the second day across the bay to the State Park for a picnic. Thanks. Owen PS....The bed was wonderful, thanks for going over and above with your furnishings, almost took the the antique trunk home!!

Hello there, Found your gorgeous cabin on CL, stayed June 30th thru July 4th weekend. I saw the Scorpions concert at the resort there, the concert rocked, and your cottages and resort grounds are beautiful. I would love to stay at your cabin again later this summer on a relax/get away weekend with my hubby. Thx, Linda
