Wonderful location halfway up the hill towards Montmartre and Sacre Coeur, this bright and pleasant Parisian 35m2 (370sq.ft) apartment has been renovated by it's architect-owner with all new furnishings and fittings.
Located on the 5th floor in a traditional apartment building with lift and security entrance, the roof top balcony provides views over the Pigalle and the Montmartre area. Enjoy sunset views to the Eiffel Tower. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. The living/dining area gets the morning sun with big open windows on to the internal courtyard. The bathroom has WC, bath, shower and heated towel rail. The bedroom has a large double bed (Queens size) with a chaise longue/single sofa in the living area. Within 100 metres are located all the shops needed, including fruit and vegetables, butchery, bakery, liquor store, pharmacy and hairdresser.
The Pigalle/Montmartre area is famous for its association with the many painters and artists who worked and dwelt there in the late 19th century. Theo Van Gough lived in the lane across the road for nearly 40 years. It has excellent food shops close by with weekend street food markets just 5 minutes walk away at Rue Lepic (around where the movie Amelie was filmed) and Rue Des Martyrs. It is a 10 minute walk to the famed Sacre Coeur church, just the best place to watch Parisian sunsets. The large department stores such as Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are close by with the major galleries easily accessible by Metro or bus.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 9
Our sunny little apartment in Pigalle is the culmination of a 20 year love affair with Paris, the city of light. We return every year and never fail to feel uplifted and recharged. Now our daughter has married a Parisian boy and grandchildren have arrived so we have an even more important excuse to rush back. The apartment is just how we like it, bright, comfortable and cosy and we are delighted that over the past 6 years so many others have also enjoyed our dream. Best wishes and enjoy it from Christine and Oliver, Byron Bay, Australia.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
This neighbourhood is at the top of the 9th arrondissement and is sometimes called Nouvelle Athene, after the famous restaurant at the top of rue Pigalle where many of the first impressionist painters would meet in the early 1870's. It is said that the very first exhibition which launched impressionism on a startled art world was conjured up in the Nouvelle Athene cafe.
There are 3 metro stops on Line 12 close by, namely. St Georges, Trinité and Pigalle and we use St George which is closest to the apartment. However, our great joy of Paris morning life is to walk the streets and when we leave the apartment we walk down rue Pigalle to the very pretty Trinité church and then down the side streets to Galeries Lafayette and then on down to the Opera and thru Madelaine to Place Concorde and the Seine river. Its a great start to our day and we can always catch the metro back if we are tired. Or we head over to the market street of rue des Marthyrs about 3 blocks away, where we stock up on fresh food, cheeses and seafood. Within a 50 metre walk we have all the grocery and wine supplies we need plus a wonderful butchery which usually has a queue outside at weekends. the patisserie on the corner has the best baguettes and croissants and next door is a newsagent where we buy the Int Herald Tribune for a breakfast read.

Hi, My name is Christine Vadasz and with my husband Oliver and daughter Bridget are the owners of this "Bright and Sunny apartment on the edge of the Pigalle area in Paris. Though I live and work as an architect in a famous surfing spot on the east of Australia, my background is European, having been born in Budapest, Hungary. Paris fills my need for the memory of the inner city life which was so much a part of my mother and grandmothers' life before they came to a a very different new world.

We loved every minute of our week in this so Parisian apartment. It is spacious, quiet and comfortable and very large by French standards. On the fifth floor with lift access, you can sit on your balcony and look right to Sacre Coeur and left to the Eiffel Tower – both gloriously flood lit at night. The kitchen is well equipped with the essentials for beginning your holiday in Paris. The bed and pillows are beautifully comfortable and the bathroom well equipped with a shower over the bath and handrails to assist in stepping into the bath. The apartment is near to everything; shops, supermarkets, restaurants, Pigalle and St. George metro, walking distance to Galleries Lafayette, Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge, and the free phone calls to our family in Australia was an added bonus and much appreciated. Bridget is a wonderfully friendly host and happy to assist when necessary. We cannot recommend this apartment highly enough. Thank you for your hospitality.

My family and I very much enjoyed our stay at this lovely apartment. The pictures accurately represent the furnishings and we were very comfortable. The apartment is in a very central location -- we utilized the neighborhood information provided for tenants and were able to get around on foot, by Metro, and bus! There are plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities in the neighborhood. The best part may have been having our coffee and croissants on the balcony with monumental views in each direction. Bridget was very welcoming and reponsive and could not have been more thoughtful helping us get situated.

About a week into my stay at "Pigalle Panorama" I gave a little dinner party. (How much fun was that?) One of my guests went out onto the balcony to check the view of Sacre Coeur and the Eiffel Tower. He came back in to report that the people on the neighboring balcony had told him how lucky he was to live there! So was I, even for just eleven days. The apartment is just the right size for one person or a couple and it's perfectly outfitted (clothes washer was a special boon). Lots of light, plenty of hot water, comfy bed, and VoIP phone -- free calls to land lines in many countries. Not to mention WiFi, kitchen equipment, and adorable decor. I have spent quite a bit of time in Paris but did not know the neighborhood at all -- it's great! Residential, safe, central, but fascinating. I loved trotting out to get my baguette each morning. And it's phenomenally easy to get around Paris from 42 rue Pigalle: if you are willing to walk a few minutes, you can get to five Metro lines. I am already plotting my return. Special note: the owners of the flat are very pleasant to deal with. -Carol Hamlin, New York NY (cmcdwh@gmail.com)

Paris has been an unbelievable experience. The local shops have been fabulous and we highly recommend the green grocer immediately below 42 Pigalle, (Le Cri du Radis). He has been very helpful and sells delicious fruit and vegetables. We also love our 'chic' hair colour and cut from Espace Coiffure(a couple of doors down). And of course, the 'Piece de Resistance' the apartment itself! How wonderful to come home exhausted each day and relax in the comfort of this little jewel. To be able to sit on the balcony each evening and view the Eiffel Tower sparkling with lights on the hour and then to experience the ghostly white of Sacre Coeur in the opposite direction. Thank you to Gail and Preston for their helpfulness in settling in. We also appreciated the tea/coffee and many other items available at the apartment. Finally, being able to phone home to Australia free of charge has been brilliant!! Thank you Dunne Family. Regards, Yvonne and Cheryle

From Brendan and Marion, DublinWe have recently returned from our second stay at the rue Pigalle apartment and were delighted to renew our acquaintance with this great area of Paris. As a pair of active seniors, we find that this apartment has everything we need, plus it is close to all the shops and restaurants in the area. It’s nice airy yet it was warm in winter. The bus is just on the corner and it takes you straight Hotel de Ville and Notre Dame. The St. George Metro station is about 200 metres away and you can be walking in the Louvre half an hour after leaving the front door. Another good thing is that the building has a lift which is much appreciated after a hard days walking in Paris, our favourite Paris persuit. We will be back. PS: The owners have now fitted a wee step into the bath/shower area with a grab rail and it worked very well for us.

Date Submitted: September 07, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008 We enjoyed our stay at this charming, little apartment in Pigalle. The apartment is well equiped with a tiny balcony overlooking the street and with lovely views to Sacre Coeur and the Eiffel Tower. Lots of food shops near by with friendly helpful staff. Easy access to the Metro and within walking distance of Montmartre. Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby to suit most tastes and budgets (can recommend Les Comediens on Rue Blanche). Perfect apartment for a couple. The small space has been creatively used to provide all mod cons but getting in and out of the shower is a bit tricky and wouldn't be suitable for anyone with limited mobility. The neighbourhood could be described as colourful being in a red light district which may bother some people but we felt perfectly safe. Would stay here again and recommend it to others. 28/5/08: we'd warmly support the comments already made. We rented this apartment early May 2008 for four days. It's ideally situated for exploring lots of Paris, and only 2 1/2 blocks from the Metro, which is easy to negotiate (we managed all our Metro trips on a 10-trip ticket, with some judicious walking!) Gail was great to deal with and the whole experience was superb. WARMLY recommended.

A very well appointed clean apartment, ideal for a couple. The location is excellent being close but not too close to Place Pigalle and five minutes from the Metro. There is plenty of tourist information and the phone can be used for a local call. This is vital if you do not have a mobile phone and you need a taxi.A washing machine is also a big plus.

We had the most fantastic time in the three weeks we spent at the apartment. As we were there during the Australian Federal election campaign we wanted to be able to check the latest news via the internet and cable TV so thankyou Bridget and Gail for helping us with this. We don't want to recommend the apartment to anyone because we want to keep it all to ourselves! Carolyn and John, Melbourne, Australia
