Our lovely village home is nestled in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône. Located in Mollans sur l'Ouveze, MaisonMollans is steps away from the village's historic, 18th century fountain.
Its comfortable living quarters are the perfect base for exploring the vineyards, lavender fields, and local markets that surround us. This multi-level house has a comfortable living-dining area with a fold-out bed, a WC right off the kitchen and two bedrooms. The first is equipped with its own shower and sink and a double bed, the second has two twin beds and is on the same level as the separate bath/shower room and second WC.
Owned by two cookbook authors and cooking teachers, the kitchen is well equipped and our spacious dining room table or our rooftop terrace are the perfect place to enjoy the market finds and lovely wines while soaking up the Provençal sun.
Mollans itself offers two cafe/bars, two bakeries,a grocery store, butcher shop, casual pizza place and a restaurant. Play boules with the locals or stroll over the bridge to the Bar du Pont to sip a pastis and watch the village go by while the Ouveze river murmurs below.
Small restaurants are everywhere in the area, offering seasonal dining at a reasonable price. We're minutes from Vaison-la-Romaine, with its Roman ruins, movie theater and charming old town, or about an hour to Avignon and all its possibilities. Go antiquing at Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or take a day trip to the Mediterranean. No matter what you choose, you'll be glad you came and stayed with us.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Mary Ellen Evans and Hallie Harron are two cookbook authors and cooking teachers who love France. They found their ideal house in Provence while conducting food tours and decided to make their dream of living in France a reality. Now they share that dream with others by renting the house while they're back in the US.
Why the Owner Chose Vaison-la-Romaine
We found our perfect house while attending the Journees Gourmandes in Vaison la Romaine. We knew the area and loved the vineyards, markets, and relaxed atmosphere. The unpretentious but charming character of our village confirmed our choice.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We love sitting on our terrace and having a morning coffee or an evening aperitif. Unlike many village houses, our home is full of light from the many windows facing out on the field below. As wine and food lovers, we have access to fabulous Cotes du Rhone wines, multiple markets, plus an olive oil mill, two bakeries and an excellent butcher shop right in the village. We can stroll across the bridge and sit and watch the local world go by from the patio of the Bar du Pont or head out to visit Roman ruins, hike up nearby mountain trails or drive through lavender fields in season. We can take our pick of great restaurants surrounding us and make sure to have an up to date listing available to our renters.

What a cozy, wonderful place to stay. Just steps from the village fountain, where locals go to fill up on the spring water. Go watch (or play) boules (like bocce) on the town court, which is huge and less than 1/2 block away. Within a couple of blocks are a butcher, restaurants, grocery store, a couple of bakeries, bars, etc. It's slow-paced, locals type of an environment. The house itself is not fancy, but is pretty and has everything you'll need and then some. You will feel like a local. We stayed in and cooked many of our meals (that's our family in the picture), including the owners' chicken recipe - yum. Make certain to visit out of the way places. Very close to this house (within a few miles) is a locals spot on a river where you can wade in ankle deep water way up a canyon. Bring a picnic, sunscreen and a bottle of wine. Make sure to ask the owners for directions. Take a day trip to Pont du Gard and rent kayaks to paddle underneath. It's a breathtaking way to see the 2000 yr old bridge. You can't beat this place for the price, especially if you want to be out of the way in a beautiful, quintessentially Provencal village.

I stayed here in August and expected a comfortable house in a beautiful area. I was stunned by how great this house and the accommodations are. A very well appointed living room/dining room. Two good, modern bathrooms and of course a gourmet equipped kitchen. Even more spectacular are the views out of every room of a gorgeous hillside and valley behind the house. The medieval town of Mollans is beautiful too with many hidden surprises. Don't miss the pizza truck on Monday night. There are many fine restaurants with 20 to 30 minutes to choose from when you don't want to exercise the fine kitchen. Maison Mollans is an exceptional value for any traveler. Cote du Rhone is every where too

We stayed at "Maison Mollans" for a week in late October. The home is located in a small quaint Provincial village, close to all the wonderful sights of the Cotes Du Rhone region of Provence. We really enjoyed the morning walks to the bakeries (two in the village) and shopping at the local grocery store and butcher shop. The home was very well equipped for extended stays. Even in late October, the choice of fine restaurants in the area was outstanding. The owners provided us with a wealth of information about the area and services. If we get back to Provence, this is where we would stay----only longer!

We (three adults) rented this house in June 2007 and had a wonderful time. The house was very comfortable, had all our needed amenities and was very well located to lots of Provence sights. The owners left us many tips and recommendations for restaurants and markets. We'd love to go back!!
