Casa de la Felicidad is a lovely, quiet retreat equipped with every comfort and convenience. It is located in the heart of San Miguel's most desirable area and sleeps 2 to 6 people.
San Miguel is in the approximate center of Mexico about an hour from Leon's international airport. The Centro area of the city has been historically preserved since 1926. In 2008 San Miguel was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Today the city combines a colonial ambiance with a thriving and hip cultural scene. At 5,000 feet above sea level, San Miguel's nearly perfect climate and its natural hot springs are rejuvenating.
Casa de la Felicidad has an unbeatable location, all the comforts you could want and magnificent views of this historic city. Only two short blocks from the city's vibrant heart, the Jardin, the house is a peaceful oasis because it is located on an ancient narrow street - because the street is so narrow, there are no noisy trucks or buses to disturb you.
It is the best possible place from which to explore the city. The short walk to the Jardin is nearly flat - a rarity in this mountain town. You are only minutes from many international restaurants, cafes and taquerias. The Jardin, San Miguel's "outdoor living room," is right around the corner. From this location you won't miss a single parade, concert or performance.
San Miguel is perfect for indoor-outdoor living: warm in the daytime and beautifully cool at night. Relax on the reading terrace, dine and enjoy spectacular views from two rooftop terraces. Enjoy the many plants throughout the house including vivid bougainvillea and scented jasmine. This colorful house comes equipped with high-speed internet service and cable TV. The living room, kitchen/dining area and master bedroom are located on the first floor along with a sun-filled inner courtyard. Two of the sleeping areas are on the second floor.
The house is equipped with a water purification system that produces potable water and pressurizes the water supply. Not only can you drink delicious water right from the faucet, but showers are brisk and strong.
Entering Casa de la Felicidad from the cobblestone street you step into the main sala. The furnishings, including two comfortable loves eats, were hand-crafted in San Miguel. There is a beautiful cantera fireplace with cozy gas logs for cool nights. Throughout the house cheerful Mexican colors and artisan crafts will delight your eye.
The sala opens onto the kitchen and dining areas. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make everyday or special meals, and the copper-topped dining table seats six comfortably. Do not miss the wonderful fresh produce available at the markets. Maybe you will want to take one of the excellent cooking courses offered in town. Use the local fresh limons to make the best margarita you've ever had!
Each of the bedrooms are provided with down comforters, gas heaters and lots of pillows. The master bedroom (king bed) is on the first floor. A full bath is two steps away, across a hallway. One upstairs bedroom (two twins) has its own full bath. The third bedroom (queen) shares a bath. This room has the television and a private, shaded patio with lovely plants and a padded recliner.
The interior of the house is a lovely open courtyard with a bubbling fountain and a table and chairs that are perfect for your morning coffee or tea.
There are two wonderful outdoor areas on the roof terrace. The sunny rooftop dining area is perfect for entertaining. The shaded outdoor living room with daybed and cushioned chairs is just the place for your afternoon siesta or margaritas at sunset.
The spectacular views include La Parroquia (only 2 blocks away) and the Chapel San Francisco as well as the surrounding hillsides.
San Miguel is a lively town and this house is the perfect way to enjoy it - right in the center of things. Soak up views of the charming town, sunshine, church bells and fireworks on the rooftop. Then retreat to conversation and fireside in the quiet and cool sala.
Ofelia will come three times a week to care for you during your visit. She will take care of the laundry, dish washing, and house maintenance.
In this amazing city you can choose among cultural resources including a large library, the Angela Peralta Theater, and the Instituto Allende. Walk through the cactus garden which has won international renown. Soak in the hot springs just outside of town, enjoy every kind of cuisine and endless shopping opportunities. Slow down... and don't miss a sunset.
