Best Place to stay in Costa Rica

We arrived at Casa Carolina on Feb 9th with two other couples and were greeted with unbelievable warmth from Willie, Lisbeth and Saul....let's not forget the homemade guacamole and chips followed by a wonderful dinner prepared by Saul and Lisbeth. The Casa was beautiful, clean and spacious. Every couple had their own suites and privacy. The staff were extremely accommodating and catered to our every need. The fishing was exciting and again the crew was outstanding. Marcos, the mate on the boat, was knowledgeable, helpful and entertaining. The boat was the nicest and cleanest fishing boat I have ever been on and I have been on several. We caught mahi mahi, sailfish and amberjacks. The best fishing we have ever had. The trip was one of the best of a lifetime and I would highly recommend this property and Frenzy Fishing Charters!

We stayed here for new year's, a family reunion. The villa is magnificent but more importantly Willy, the manager, lizbeth the housekeeper and Saula the maintence man were beyond compare. They are all so thoughtful and made our trip so special. We had our New Year's Eve dinner catered by Roger. He was wonderful had a great time with he and his sous chef. So if you want to have the trip of a life time look no further you have found a slice of paradise. Muchos gracias to Willy, Saula, and Lizbeth.

It is simple. If I am in Costa Rica and the Manuel Antonio area again, this is the only place I will stay at. It's amazing. Amazing house, amazing grounds, amazing pool, amazing staff. Willy, Saul, Lisbeth... they take care of you and they take pride in doing it. They really helped make the trip excellent. Rent a car though.

Just got home from an awesome week in Costa Rica. Casa Carolina and its staff are amazing. I can't say enough about Willy, Lisbeth, and Saul. Anything you need to plan you pick up the phone and call Willy whose number is programmed. He arranges all taxis, tours, anything you need. Saul kept us laughing. He showed us many things on the property such as sloths, monkeys, etc. He was there all day if you needed anything at all. I can't say enough about Lisbeth. Pack lightly, She does laundry every day. You put it in the hamper at night, it is washed, dried, folded, and sitting on your dresser by afternoon. She cooked our breakfast every morning and made the best guacamole, pico de galo and chips that I have ever eaten. I truly feel that these folks became friends of ours in the week that we were there. Was so nice to sit and exchange stories with them and learn so much about Costa Rica. People are right when they say that the house is even nicer than the photos depict. It is an AMAZING place an kept immaculate. La Luna and El Avion were two of our favorite restaurants. You must try the tuna at El Avion. Close to many attractions. Had great guides on all tours Willy arranged for us. Can't wait to go back and will def stay at Casa Carolina.

I have taken many vacations yet have never felt compelled to write a review that is until I stayed at Casa Carolina. This home is just AMAZING!!! The home is even nicer than the pictures if you can believe that. We just got back to the U.S.A. and I truly miss Casa Carolina. You are truly treated like royalty at this home. We absolutely fell in love with Lisbeth (housekeeper) and Saul (Groundskeeper). Lisbeth cooked our breakfast every morning.Lesson learned while staying at Casa Carolina- Pack light- Lisbeth has your laundry washed, dried, folded and sitting back on your bed every single day. Saul kept us laughing. Willy was always there when needed. Any questions, you just pick up the house phone and call Willy. He will arrange for a taxi to pick you up any time you need one and arranges any tour that you may want to take. Took taxi to the grocery store and bank, Was all close by, Loved eating at La Luna and El Avion. 2 of our favorites. I can;t wait to return to Casa Carolina. Will be nice to see the house staff again. I truly consider this crew our friends.

The property was better than we imagined. Liz, Saul and Willy went out of their way to make our trip extra special and became a part of our family. We had 9 adults and 4 children and plenty of room to spare. the owners are lucky to have them representing the property...We are already planning our next trip. Highly recommend this property. The pictures do not do justice to this beautiful property. I want to extend my thanks to Willy, Elizabeth and all the staff who took such great care of our group of 7. Usually it takes me a few days to unwind on vacation; however, at Casa Carolina it took 5 minutes. I highly recommend hiring the chef that Willy recommends. He cooked a gourmet meal at a very reasonable price. It is hard to believe this vacation is over but I will cherish the great memories of Casa Carolina!

This vacation home fulfills everything our group dreamed of, and more. The staff are fabulous. Willie made sure we did every activity we wanted to do, and he also found the best guides to lead us through our excursions. His arrangements made each trip a perfect experience. Lizbeth kept a immaculate home, and prepared wonderful meals. Saul kept the grounds and pool immaculate. And the evening security let us know we were well protected,... but really we had no trouble to need their expertice. The pictures on the internet can't do justice to this fabulous home. If you are looking for the perfect spot to enjoy this area of Costa Rica, stay with Casa Carolina!

This a 6 Star Experience!

If there were such a thing as a 6 star experience, this would be it. I have had the good fortune to stay at some very fine resorts and nothing compares to the accomodations, service, and overall experience of staying at this magnificant home. If you are planning a trip to Costa Rica, stop looking and book Casa Carolina. This is a perfect place for a "girl's trip" as the security is top notch, the staff looks after your well being and safety 24 hours a day and Willy books the best of the best for you from drivers to tour guides. We were treated so wonderfully, the service was beyond description, the house and grounds were kept immaculate and we fell completely in love with Lisbeth, Saul and Willy. Add to this that cute squirrell monkeys visited, we saw white faced monkeys in distant trees and heard howler monkeys each day! I can't think of one negative! I will return!!!

Upon arriving at Casa Carolina we were overwhelmed with the property. The photo's do not do the home our views justice. We were married on the sun deck and had a incredible reception on the back patio. The home is kept immaculately clean by Liz who comes in everyday she is not only sweet as pie but even takes care of your laundry daily so you can pack lighter than expected! Our group was a real mix of "matured" family members, 30 something best friends, a 9 year old son, and our 15 month daughter. The activities that Willy recommended and scheduled Kept all of us entertained and very happy. Casa Carolina allowed me to not only have the wedding of my dreams but a week of amazing memories with my loved ones! Thank you!

The house and grounds are really beautiful, much nicer than I had anticipated. We actually saw more wildlife around the house than in other places, including sloths, squirrel monkeys and iguanas. Staff was very pleasant during our stay.

We've been very blessed to have some wonderful family vacations through the years. Our stay in Casa Carolina was one of our best yet!! We stayed 10 days and got to do as much as you can possibly do. From zip lining, to whitewater rafting, to hiking, to the beach, to fishing, to eating, to spending wonderful time with family and friends.......to just relaxing. It was awesome! The best part of each day, though, was coming home to Casa Carolina and all the comforts of this beautiful home. I am convinced EVERYONE in Quepos and Manuel Anotonio knows Willy (House Manager). He did just like we were told he'd do........you ask for it and Willy will make it happen. He coordinated all our excursions, van rides and picked up all the many groceries we needed. Willy is "the man"!!! We were also told that Elizabeth (Housekeeper that comes in each morning) would wash clothes FASTER than you could get them dirty. This is true. So, pack even less than you planned to make your traveling easier. She is terrific and her early morning coffee and fresh-cut fruit were delicious! Also, Saul (Gardener) was fantastic. He kept the grounds and pool immaculate and was around just when you needed him. The children loved him and his card tricks. Having this staff really, really makes Casa Carolina special in so many ways. We were fortunate to charter 2 days aboard the Frenzy. What a fabulous boat. More importantly, what a terrific crew. Capt. Jose knew where to go and how to do it. We were impressed. 1st Mate Marcos moved better and faster on a boat than ANYONE I have ever seen. And his rapport with all of us fishing was beyond TERRIFIC. He is great at his job and really seemed to love his work. Mate Rudy was excellent, as well. We caught plenty of fish to eat (which Saul cooked for us when we asked him to) and landed and released 5 beautiful sailfish. What a great experience..... One of our best vacations yet. Casa Carolina was exceptional and very well kept. The staff were superb and really made these 10 days extra special for everyone. The owner of this house is from South Carolina. The name of the house and way this staff ran it truly showed that world class "Southern Hospitality" (even from Costa Ricans) we're so proud of and used to, and that will make anyone comfortable. Highest of recommendations!!!!!

Casa Carolina was by far our best vacation. My family of 8 and 4 friends loved every minute of the house and Costa Rica... The staff (they became our friends) were superb and we ate fresh fish(that we caught on the Frenzy) , fresh guacamole and chips, fresh fruit and were awoken by monkeys each day! Casa Carolina is well kept, in a beautiful location with easy access to any and all activities...we loved teh zip line, white water rafting, fishing on the Frenzy, the beaches in Manulo Antionio park and we recommend the Anaconda, El Gran Escape (for lunch/dinner) and the El Avion for a sunset drink! perfect vacation and we will definately return one day... You should start planning your vacation to Casa Carolina today...

A perfect vacation!

Our family spent a week at the beautiful Casa Carolina earlier this month. This is the most lovely house! It is grand and spacious and beautifully decorated. The grounds are paradise! But the amazing thing is how comfortable you feel in these surroundings. The evening sunsets are indescribable! The morning sunrises are just as beautiful. There are balconies everywhere so you never miss one minute of the incredible natural beauty surrounding you. We had two 12 year olds who loved the infinity pool. We also had two 17 year old boys who stayed in the guest house, which was a perfect set-up for them and us! In the afternoons, the squirrel monkeys, making their journeys home, stop by for a visit. The pictures of this place do not begin to do justice! The infinity pool overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Every room of the house has a unique and awesome view. There are some great restaurants in the area. We enjoyed Victoria's, Kapi Kapi, Si Como No, Ronnie's Place, and of course, El Gran Escape. Some of the best food we ate was breakfast cooked by Lizbeth and Saul at the Casa Carolina. And we had Kukala, a local chef, come in for a night to cook our delicious tuna and mahi we caught on The Frenzy. I feel especially grateful to the house staff for doing everything to help make our stay superb! Willy, Lizbeth, and Saul are gems! Thank you!

Our second year staying at Casa Carolina was as spetacular as the first. Have no reservations about renting this property out of the country. The house is beautiful and spacious. The lovely infinity pool is a great place to gather with friends and provides the perfect place to watch the sun set. The staff and management are friendly and helpful and make you feel like you are at home. The natural beauty and wild life around the house is incredable. For those who like to fish, the Freenzy fishing teams are the best on the coast !! Thanks you for a wonderful vacation.

This experience was a combination of staying in a first-class hotel with all the comforts of home. Enjoying drinks by the refreshing infinity pool while watching the breathtaking sunset over the Pacific Ocean was a highlight every evening. Retiring to a tastefully decorated bedroom with all the amenities was a wonderful end to every adventurous day of exploring the surroundings. Mornings started with a delicious breakfast prepared by the hospitable Lisbeth. Saul taught me so much about the wildlife and even made me brave enough to feed a monkey. Willie took care of all the details. Would highly recommend a stay at Casa Carolina!!!

From start to finish, my stay at Casa Carolina was first rate. The spectacular service was just barely overshadowed by the breathtaking view of the Pacific. If there is a better place to watch the sun go down in the world, I have yet to see it. This is the perfect location for a group of guys, a group of couples, or a family getaway! You need to experience for yourself the beauty and the joy of Casa Carolina! You will never regret a single minute of your time here!

what I loved the most were...the staff members, Willy, Lizbeth, Saul. All three were hardworking, obliging, dedicated, professional, friendly, warm, welcoming and excellent cooks! Every meal they cooked was amazing; we went with their recommendations, and they never failed to please. They worked in great harmony with one another; the end result was a near flawless stay at Casa Carolina. Willy organized transportation for all 12 of us at reasonable prices too. Lizbeth kept the place immaculate, had coffee and breakfast for us every morning, even did our laundry. She spoilt us so that we didn't want to come back to our homes again....Saul is a wizard on the grill. Really can't say enough about the folks, so let me say some about the villa. It's amazing, the pictures can't do justice to the view or the beauty of the place. So thanks, Liz, Willy and Saul. We hope to come back to see you real soon! If you're thinking of staying here, do it!! I've stayed in villas through VRBO and this one was the best ever, the amenities and all around best. As for things to do, Manuel Antonio is a short drive from the villa, it's worth a guided walk through. Don't forget the deet, you'll need it. The best beaches are in the forest, entry is about $10. Walk the entire trail and you'll find some secluded and beautiful spots. Body boarding is safer than surfing if you aren't a strong ocean swimmer. There are trainers on the public beach, I didn't see any in the Manuel Antonio forest. Wear clothes that can dry easily, you will get wet walking through since it rains quite often during the low season. We watched World Cup Football in "The Marlin" restaurant near the beach and enjoyed some great cocktails and food there.

We had an unbelievable time - along with the fabulous amenities, picturesque views, nature in the palms of our hands, etc., it was so easy to get there! We drove to Charlotte, took a straight 4 hour flight [with a 1 hour time change] and then took a 15 minute plane to the coast. Words can't begin to describe our WONDERFUL stay at Casa Carolina! From the planning of the trip with the owner and the manager, to the day we were returned to the airport, every detail was attended to by the staff. They cannot be commended enough! The property was beautiful, even more than can be appreciated in the photos. It was clean, well maintained and safe. We enjoyed offshore fishing 3 days on the owner's sport fishing boat "Frenzy" and were delighted with the knowledge of the captain and 2 mates...they made sure that we had fun, caught fish and didn't have a worry in the world. Local restaurants were delightful. We have already signed up for a week next year and would recommend this trip to anyone that wants a fun, relaxing, pampered vacation with a little adventure ! Five stars Casa Carolina!!!

Casa Carolina is beautiful and luxurious. Relaxing by the pool with a view of dramatic sunsets over the Pacific, cooking fresh fish (caught on the Frenzy) in the outdoor kitchen, being pampered by excellent staff, and enjoying the company of new friends were highlights of the trip. The lush foliage and wildlife along with pristine beaches and friendly locals, make for a perfect vacation in Costa Rica.

This incredible home should be in the lifestyles of the rich and famous! And we felt that way for an entire week! Loved the sunsets over the Pacific... drinking cocktails and swimming in the infinity pool- quite lovely! We thoroughly enjoyed being pampered and catered to by the professional staff on site. Gorgeous property kept emaculately clean. Expansive views with spectacular colored western skies during sunset. Infinity pool a luscious and soothing retreat from sunbathing. Plenty of wild life entertainment...sloth, iguana, and monkeys galore!

Heaven on earth!!! I had the great privilege on staying at Casa Carolina during the 1st week of January. What a gorgeous spot! State-of-the art house on gated compound. Architectural jewel with incredible ocean views, swimming pool, outdoor terrace with fabulous bar/grill area. Monkeys and parrots visited every day! Best of all, were the fabulous staff who catered to our every need. We were pampered from the minute we arrived. Beautiful weather, canopy tours, nature hike through Manuel Antonio State Park, Fishing, Fishing, Fishing! Such a lovely area with such friendly people. Casa Carolina was beyond my wildest dreams. Best vacation ever!

Casa Carolina is one of the finest houses I've ever stayed in. Beautiful sunsets on the Pacific, cocktails around the pool, wonderful meals cooked at the outdoor kitchen or by our personal chef were all unforgetable. The dailey employees that cleaned the entire house, the pool the grill, and washed and folded our clothes every day were wonderful. The transportation provided was always on time and very helpful and most everything was a short ride away. The fishing on the Frenzy was perfect. The captain (Jose) and the mate (Marcos) were tops. Nine sails released and three Mahi boated made our day. Thanks to Willy Jimenez for all his help. As a side note the things we worried about like transportation from the airport to the house and transportation to the restaurants,bars and side trips were easy as pie thanks to Willy. Thanks for a perfect vacation.

What a magnificent place to spend a vacation! Casa Carolina ia an absolutely gorgeous home - very spacious and tastefully decorated. A friendly, professional staff (maid, gardener, security guard, and concierge)provided us outstanding service and comfort - quite a treat for us Southerners. The entire property is fenced and entrance is through secure gates to ensure complete privacy. Surrounded by many tropical trees and plants, the ambiance is breathtaking. The heated pool was a hit for everyone, and we were mesmerized watching the monkeys, parrots and majestic blue butterflies. The balconies offer views that are perfect for sunset cocktails and then change as the beauty of the sea at night reflects the lights of cruise ships and fishing boats. The outdoor grill and bar area was also a favorite place for us to relax. In addition to acquiring a wonderful chef, punctual transportation, dinner reservations and excursions with super guides, the concierge booked a most successful fishing trip for the guys on the Frenzy - 9 sailfish and 3 bull mahi mahi. WOW!!! Both captain and mate were awesome. Our week at Casa Carolina was fabulous - a most unforgettable experience.

Your home is beautiful - the rooms are spacious, comfortable and well appointed - pure luxury. And what a view as we floated in the pool, watching the boats come in as the sun set over the Pacific. Loved sitting around the large stone bar that surrounds the outdoor kitchen, sipping wine, chatting, and watching the cook grill up some fish straight out of the Pacific. And, what an experience aboard the Frenzy - catching a HUGE sailfish my first attempt at deep sea fishing. Can't wait to go back!

The house is unbelievable! Sitting on top of the mountain, over-looking the ocean with all types of wildlife in the mornings from ducks, monkeys, iguanas, and birds while sitting in the pool with a margarita. It feels like your own little peaceful slice of paradise in the most beautiful accomandations that I have ever stayed in. Very much looking forward to our next visit!

Pura Vida.....Your home and the lifestyle in Costa Rica is AMAZING. I have traveled allot and found my week in Costa Rica to be one of the Best if not THE BEST. Loved the GORGEOUS home, the house managers for cleaning and massages, the FISHING with it's boat manager, staff and services, and all the special services/amenities, such as the very special driver while we were there. It is truly a bit of heaven on earth. Thank you for sharing it with us, and I look forward to visiting again.

We were treated to the lovliest ( and most professional ) travel experience by the staff and owners of Casa Carolina.Traveling outside of the United States, with out the familiarity of location or language was mitigated by the superb staff at Casa Carolina...Manuel Antoni is pure heaven, one breathtaking view after the next,I can not wait to return

I had the priveledge of staying at Casa Carolina in November of 2007 on a fishing trip with some friends. Our experience was exceptional. The property , staff , and fishing were all first rate.

Casa Carolina is a beautiful private home on top of a mountain overlooking the bay. The sunset is spectacular from the pool area. There is a wonderful heated infinity pool. THe grounds are beautifully landscaped. The house is nicely furnished and so comfortable!!!! It has pretty painted high ceilings in every bedroom. The living room ceilings must be about 24 feet high. With 8 women staying at Casa Carolina, we had more than enough space. The outside grilling and eating areas couldn't have been more accommodating. I had a truly relaxing vacation at Casa Carolina and highly recommend it to everyone. It is a very special place!!!!

Thank you for the wonderful time at Casa Carolina. The house was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! It is rare to visit a foreign country and still be THAT comfortable. I can't wait to get back down there and finish up the fishing I started this last time!

Just returned from a fabulous trip to Casa Carolina. Willy,Seoul and Lizbeth are the best! It was hard saying goodbye. The food was great and the best Guacamole. We loved eating dinners at the house. We did not have to do a thing. The men caught Tuna, Grouper and Snapper. I recommend going inside Antonio Manuel Park to the beach.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers.
