The cabin is in a wonderful location with a stunning view but the inside is very worn and could do with a good spring clean. It is not suitable for the elderly or those with any disabilities, especially the two downstairs bedroom. The most disappointing aspect was that the cabin was on the lake shore and it wasn't "just a few steps" to the shore as written in the description. It is down a 2 very steep and rough tracks. The link to the directions didn't work for me and when I contacted the owner he just sent the address - no mention of the rough tracks leading to the cabin or the need for a 4 wheel drive car.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners.
Owner response: I'm sorry that you didn't like our cabin but I've been renting it for the past 10 yrs. with not one complaint. I rent it out almost 15 weeks a year and more than half of those renters have been coming up as repeat renters. I have been renovating my property for the past 10 yrs and have spend alot of money on it. It is also cleaned every week when people leave. We own the the whole mountain top so sometimes mother nature takes its course. Sorry again! I welcome you back for another visit, and maybe next time you will be happy! Thanks Brett Mandeville

My family and I have been going up to the cabin 7 years now . It's only for a week each year but we wish we could stay longer. The lake and mountain views are amazing. Cruising in a pontoon boat on a lake that feels like your own private lake is priceless. The cabin is always clean when we get there and the owners are outstanding. Any questions or concerns are answered or taken care of immediately. As the years have gone by we have ventured out not too far from the cabin into Vermont and found so many things to do. Bromley Mountain has zip lines, Alpine slides and more. There is also America's oldest quarry in Dorset, Vermont . We would hit the quarry, do some cliff jumping and swimming, then grab something to eat and head back to the cabin to sit by the fire and relax. Now keep in mind, you're in a cabin style house at the top of a mountain. However, you have all the comforts of home: hot water, Directv, a washer & dryer, two refrigerators, etc. I could go on all day talking about the cabin but I will end with this . I served in the Marine Corps and had the opportunity to travel all over the world. I have also spent some time in over thirty of this great nation's states . But somehow I find myself wanting to go up to the cabin every chance I get.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our August 2012 visit marks our 8th year at the cabin. This has become our second home. It is cozy and comfortable. We invite extended family to spend time with us too. There are daily walks to the lake, swimming, boating, fishing, and relaxing around the camp. We enjoy nightly campfires where we cook dinner and then enjoy each others' company laughing and remembering family times together. We like being able to bring our dogs with us too. They are free to roam and walk the trails with us. The view from the cabin is amazing! We have been lucky enough to watch thunderstorms travel across Lake Hortonia and especially the rainbows after each one! The sunrises are beautiful and peaceful. On the day we leave, we already start counting down the days and planning for our next visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

"Our days were filled with a lot of fun and sun on the lake. We enjoyed fishing, swimming and just hanging out lakeside. We grilled at night while the kids all played in the great outdoors. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Hope to see you next year!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
