Blueberry Hill River Cottage

This unique 1920's cottage sits on the bluff that overlooks the Mississippi River. It is located 1/2 mile outside the historic town of Natchez. It is very private. Your only neighbors are the owners who will probably invite you over for a view from their porch, refreshments, and tell you some of the things you can do while on your trip. The cottage is a short 10 minute drive to town past several picture perfect cemeteries.

My 2 sisters and I thought the best thing about traveling to Natchez would be to tour the beautiful homes. We were wrong. The best part of the trip was staying at the Blueberry Hill Cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has all the comforts of home. Carol has put such wonderful touches in the cottage and the breakfast items and snacks she supplied were perfect. Although we had a couple days of rain and cooler weather, the view overlooking the Mississippi was beautiful and the brick courtyard was lined with flowers. Carol and Braxton are outstanding hosts and made our visit truly memorable with their Southern hospitality. I have used vrbo.com several times and each have been good but nothing has compared with the Blueberry Hill Cottage. Thanks for everything Carol and Braxton. One thing, Carol you might want to include the story of your cottage. We found it very interesting.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My wife, myself, and another couple stayed at this property for a weekend trip to Natchez. This cottage is amazing! It is cozy, very clean, wonderfully furnished, has extremely comfortable beds, stocked with goodies, snacks, breakfast foods, and has an amazing view of the river from high upon a bluff. The surroundings are lovely, quiet, and this cottage is a perfect place to stay. The owner is a very gracious host and we highly recommend that you consider staying at the Blueberry Hill CottageRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The picture of this cottage does not do it justice. The view from the deck of the wide expanse of the Mississippi River and the oxbox lake across the river is very relaxing. Watching the barges go up and down the river at a snails pace should be the definition of relaxing. The cottage is very comfortable and reminds me of my Aunt Della's cottage when I was growing up. There were many "pretties" to look at (and not touch) and yet it was homey and inviting. The owner's style of decorating is very cleavor and artistic. She has repurposed a number of items from the Victorian and early 1900's eras and used them in very cleavor ways throughout the cottage. The property is very clean and well-maintained. The kitchen is small but very efficient. The breakfast items provided in the fridge were plentiful. The owner was very helpful and we did not have any concerns because she address anything that might become an issue before it became one. We would definitely recommend this propery for 55+ couples, a girls retreat or a family with adult children in college. We enjoyed The Magnolia Grill restaurant down on the waterfront, the city cemetery tour (be sure to get the CD at the visitor center or use the one provided by the cottage owner), touring several antebellum homes, Roux 61 restaurant, and visiting the shops downtown. The visitor center is one of the best we have visited. Also, be sure to take a drive on the Natchez Trace and try to imagine what it would have been like to ride the trace in a covered wagon 150 to 200 years ago. Some of the graves in the city cemetery go back to the late 1700's. The national cemetery is there also and it is awestriking to see the graves of so many who have fought for our country and the freedoms we have today. It was especially touching to see so many graves of unknown soldiers.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

This was my idea of a perfect B & B. Adorable, cozy, private, comfortable and scenic, with everything we needed. Even met the needs of my elderly mother. Great hostess too! Made our visit to Natchez perfect! Hope we can come back and stay here!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My Mom and I picked this cottage for our Mother/Daughter trip to Natchez based on the beautiful photos online, the location and privacy, and the fact that it had two bedrooms. What we could never have known from description without experience, is how perfectly comfortable, peaceful, well-stocked, well-located, perfectly decorated and equipped and hospitable Blueberry Hill River Cottage is. We really looked forward to all of our time spent there, as much as we also enjoyed Natchez and the surrounding area. We were delighted to enjoy time with the owners, and mostly private time in a peaceful place. I also enjoyed taking a few jogs up with road, without ever being passed by a car, and enjoying the woods along the bluff.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My wife and I were looking for a place just like this. We chose this one because it was cute and most of all it has a back porch were we spent most of our relaxing time. Breakfast at the cottage was just right. We went to Natchez for lunch and supper every day. We recommend these places to eat at; Roux 61 (South of Natchez), Magnolia Grill (on the river), Pig-Out BBQ and Fish Fry (accross the bridge in Vidalia). All of these are close by. We recommend only 3 things to the owners; adding a 110v plug on the porch to power cell phones, tablets and a couple small portable fans, having Wi-fii available throughout the house and on the porch and replacing the old BBQ pit. We highly recommend this cottage over the others for a romantic and relaxing week end. Choosing this one was definitly not a mistake and you will not regret staying here.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Our stay at Blueberry Hill Cottage was exceptional. The cottage was better equipped than any timeshare or rental that we had previously visited. Our host made us feel a home. The decor was most delightful. We (two couples) found the cottage very comfortable. Coming from the Pacific Northwest our goal was to learn some of the real history of the South and Natchez and neighboring areas provided that experience. We were fortunate that the Natchez Pilgrimage and Vicksburg Tapestry were in progress. The National Park Service provides sites and estates at little or no cost (Golden Eagle Pass). I would recommend visiting Natchez and staying at Blueberry Hill Cottage to everyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

I cannot say enough about this wonderful cottage. Perfect in every way. Even the neighbors dog buckshot was darling. the hostess was there when needed and very gracious. Natchez was beyond what i expected and I am already homesick for my home away from home.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

The four of us enjoyed a wonderful week's stay in this charming cottage nestled on the lovely pastoral grounds overlooking the The River...The property is impeccably maintained and thoughtfully decorated, mirroring the design of the owners impressive home a short stroll away through a flower-lined brick court-yard. Soft robes, assortments of bath products, lovely ironed sheets and canopied beds made it one of the most comfortable places we have ever stayed. After touring the beautiful historic homes of Natchez all day, it was such a pleasure to return here to a place that felt like 'coming home' . Carol has fully stocked the kitchen with breakfast and snack foods....We cooked our own dinners sometimes in the convection oven or on the glass-top stove, and so enjoyed using her charming set of blue and yellow dishes. The real pleasure of this place, though, lies outside the door on the 'back porch' watching the sun set on the river and absorbing the immense quietness of a place truly apart. It is a bit like stepping back in time.....and, there is that enchanting Southern warmth that Braxton and Carol epitomize ..... that embraces you instantly, making you at ease...and at home. We are so happy to share our recommendation with anyone planning a trip to Natchez.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: WOW!! Thank you for such a wonderful review. It was a pleasure having you here and getting to know you. I hope you will come again or that someway we will meet another time. Thank you again. Carol

My husband and I made a trip to Natchez for our 24th anniversary and stayed at Blueberry Hill Cottage. We stayed 3 nights and had great time. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very comfortable and relaxing. It is clean and well maintained. The deck provides a nice view of the river. We enjoyed sitting out there in the mornings and enjoying the breeze. Carol has done a wonderful job of creating a beautiful get away. She is a gracious hostess and made our stay stress free. The cottage had everything we needed. Thanks for a wonderful stay and for the view of the sunset.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
