  We stayed at the house for two wonderful weeks with several small children. The house has large bedrooms to accomodate everyone, a wonderful yard for the kiddos to run around, a great grill for cookouts, and a short walk to the beach (kiddos towed in house-supplied wagons). The beach is great for kids since it has bathrooms, snack shack, etc. Owner was very helpful prior to arrival in answering all our questions, etc. Wonderful experience.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

  this comfortable house is perched right at ocean's edge with amazing views in all directions. there was room for everybody to gather together or to spread out. we spent part of each day in the sea at warren's point beach club and looked forward to the outdoor shower afterwards. favorite dinners included a grand finale at the stone house restaurant and a memorable lobster, salmon and little neck clam seafood feast from the bridgeport seafood store. getaways included a marvelous morning at the new bedford whaling museum, and another at the green animals and breakers estates in newport. and always, coming back "home" to the quiet and unspoiled house and porch were best of all!

  My extended family rented Southwinds for a week in mid-June, and had a wonderful time. The owner is gracious and helpful, the house clean and comfortable, with ocean views from every window. We enjoyed a family reunion dinner - there is a big dining room table and kitchen supplied with all cooking necessities. The house descriptions are accurate; the outdoor shower is a nice feature in particular. We loved the sound of the surf, the coastal views, the nearby sand beaches, and the rocky beach below the house. There is a wonderful grocery store in a nearby town, and roadside stands with fresh vegetables, baked goods, Del's frozen lemonade, and much more. We'll definitely come back, hopefully for a longer period of time.

  Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.

  Three couples with a toddler and two infants had a wonderful time here in mid-June. The house is very clean and charming, located in a perfect setting. The 9 of us had plenty of room to spread out. The view and sound of the surf lulled us to sleep each night and greeted us each morning, and the three-year-old had an great time finding rocks and shells on the beach that is steps away. The pictures are accurate, the house is as good as it looks. The setting is so perfect that we even skipped a beautiful day at the beach to spend in the front yard by the ocean. The owner is extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. We hesitate to write such a glowing review because you might steal next year's vacation booking from us!

  We stayed at Southwinds for a family reunion in July 2009. It is even more beautiful than the pictures. You can see ocean from every room in the house. There is a little rocky beach in front of the house where my kids spent hours "fishing" and playing in the tidepools. A sandy beach is within walking distance. This is a great place for a relaxing, oceanside vacation. It accommodates many people comfortably. The artists in our group were inspired to write, sketch and paint. There is an upscale spa/restaurant a couple miles down the road. The Southwinds owners are great -- they even set up a crib for our baby. If you like falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, this is the place to be.

  We stayed at this home in June 2009 and were very pleased with everything. The house was clean and the linens were all supplied with the beds on the second floor already made for us! It is a great spot to relax. Newport is close enough for a day trip and there are neat small shops close by.There is plenty of room to spread out and the beach is close by. If you are looking for action and crowds this is not the place,but if you want a pleasant vacation with fantastic views this is a great spot.

  We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed this spot. Wonderful beach house right on the water..beautiful walks along the coast or through this very private area of Little Compton. Very thoughtful owner and accomodating owners. Little Compton is truly special.
