Luxurious privacy and quiet at the heart of this world-class City. This "brand new" 100 year old home enjoyed a total "green restoration" in 2007-- still a 1911 Arts & Crafts era home but with all the comforts and amenities of state-of-the-art living.

Year Purchased: 2007

Why the Owner Chose Queen Anne

I love Seattle and have lived on Queen Anne since moving here from San Francisco in 1993. When I found these amazing views on QA's western slope, I couldn't resist. As a "green" restoration, it has been completely updated while maintaining its cherished character, and is a showplace for my commitment to sustainability and comfort - proving you can have your cake and eat it, too.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Oh, did I mention the views? From nearly every room in the house? Purple mountain's Majesty, the Shipping News, Sailing Regattas, and Amazing Sunsets. The baths with heated floors? Fireplace? Bose speakers and On Demand entertainment? Chef's kitchen, equipment, spices, condiments? Decks and gardens, for morning light, evening light, and beautiful afternoons. When I stay in this home, I wake up and go to bed at night thinking "This is the life."

But don't take my word for it - read its Guest Reviews! I guarantee, you will love this home!

B
Uptown Neighborhood

In the Seattle Center area, the Uptown neighborhood is teeming with restaurants, the beloved and UBER gourmet Metropolitan Market, transportation hubs, Ladro coffee, and many places to explore.

C
Upper Queen Anne

Yet another beloved and gourmet Metropolitan market, trendy restaurants, bars, ice cream, cupcakes, donuts - kids' stores, great, level walking and shopping. Clean, friendly, interesting - a totally coveted neighborhood!

D
10th Ave West tiny retail

Muse Coffee, the Icebox Grocery/Deli/Restaurant (mmm, fantastic lunches and soon - breakfast!) - 4 blocks up 10th Avenue from this home. Tiny, intimate, but has what you need- a wonderful gathering spot.

E
Whole Foods

If you're into that kind of thing....

Owner's Map of Queen Anne

Hi there. I am an Eco-broker Realtor with Coldwell Banker Danforth here in Seattle, and I specialize in sustainability projects of all kinds, most specifically in "green" remodeling of older homes. I offer my 1911 Craftsman view home as an example of green restoration, energy-efficiency and sheer comfort. I also love to garden and am growing as much food as this city-centered property will provide...When you stay here, you are welcome to share in its bounty!

When I found this property in 2006, I first offered it to several clients. Although it was "70's" style, I could see its underlying bones: high, box-beamed ceilings, mahogany ribbon inlaid oak floors, huge landing windows perfect for a taseful stained glass, and above-all, a perfect location and truly amazing views from everywhere in the house. When they didn't bite, I did! And began a complete restoration - every system and surface was redone, trying always to keep to renewable resources and energy efficiency. It was a 4-star "Built Green" project that culminated in a home so vibrant, comfortable, fun and sociable, that again - I just had to share it - this time, with you!

Beautiful home in wonderful neighborhood

Guest: rsrd (Milwaukie, Oregon)
Date of Stay: 12/27/11 Review Submitted: 01/06/12

I would highly recommend renting this wonderful home. The aesthetic in architecture and decor are unsurpassed compared to any other home rental I have visited. The views from the western facing windows are all captivating. We were two families of four who rented this home together. The home had plenty of room for all especially with the additional space on the lowest level for the teenagers. The proximity to Seattle Center, mass transit, great restaurants and shops all add up to qualities that this homes location offers. Walking in this neighborhood was a great way to start the day and appreciate the neighborhood of Queen Anne that is unique to Seattle. Enjoy !

Owner response:Thank you so much, Fred - please come again! Nancie

Christmas in Seattle

Date of Stay: 12/21/10 Review Submitted: 01/02/12

This home was the Ideal solution for a family Christmas far away from home. The Queen Anne district is fantastic, and even though the posted photos are plentiful and gorgeous, the house is so much more: updated perfectly, furnished beautifully - with exquisite attention to comforting details. High end linens and abundant towels, the well stocked gourmet kitchen, the embrace of a warm fire place as one takes in the remarkable views of Elliot Bay and the Olympic Mountains...combined to make us relax and truly enjoy our family time. Thank-you Nancie for making your wonderful home available. We look forward to returning some day soon!

INCREDIBLE VIEWS, GRACIOUS, COMFORTABLE HOME

Guest: Karen (Muncie)
Date of Stay: 08/24/11 Review Submitted: 09/16/11

We had an absolutely delightful time at your home!! The pictures DO NOT do the home justice. It is obvious that it has been lovingly restored. Everything in the home was top-notch. By far the nicest VRBO home we have ever rented. There was plenty of room for 5 adults and our little 9-month old. The master bedroom closet made a perfect room for her!! Thank you Nancie for thinking of all the small things you need when renting a home so far from your own. It was nice to have all the spices and condiments left, which seems like such a little thing but I always hate throwing away the unused food items. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and cookware. The outdoor spaces were great as well since we had incredible weather while there. We visited Snoqualmie Falls, Olympic Natl' Park making it all the way to Rialto Beach. We visited Gas Works Park, the locks, Pike St. Market, Mars Hill Church in Baldwin on Sunday and my husband and I went to The Jazz Alley one night, We loved Seattle and hope to come back soon! Your place will be the destination to lay our heads at night.

Guest: L (Arkansas)
Date of Stay: 06/18/11 Review Submitted: 07/09/11

Spent a week in this lovely home. Family of 5 - children 17, 14, and 7. Grandparents also made the trip and had the privacy of the lower level studio. Great location. Beautifully furnished. Complete kitchen - ate breakfast in home and cooked dinner in almost all nights. Spent the days out and all over the area. No problems with key pickup. Everything as promised. Thank you Nancy for a great vacation.

Owner response:Thank you, Linda and Michael - a pleasure having you here. Come again!

Dear Nancie, Fred and I want to thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely studio apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found it to be very clean, bright and roomy. It was very convenient having the bus service at the bottom of the hill. I enjoyed your beautiful flower gardens and your vegetable gardens! Those red strawberries were tempting to pick! ;) Also enjoyed the views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mtns from our patio. Our thanks again Nancie for helping to make our time in Seattle very comfortable in your studio apartment! So glad that Maria introduced us to you! Sincerely, Dottie 'and' Fred

What a terrific time we had in this ?storybook? home! It is so much more than the pictures can capture! We created culinary delights in that 5 star kitchen and the decks were perfect for the sunset as well as intimate conversations. Delicate details, awesome views and a home that resonates warmth. Invigorating walks thru the surrounding areas, downtown and along the bay invite side walk coffee and sophisticated shopping. There is always something ?happening? in Seattle! Thank you! We will sing your praises here in the islands and look forward to returning!!

Owner response:Thank you, Louisa - so happy you all enjoyed it and look forward to having you here again! Nancie

Comfy, stunning, spacious!

Guest: Carol & Mike (Ahualoa, Hawaii)
Date of Stay: 04/20/11 Review Submitted: 06/07/11

Having lived in Seattle for six years, I knew which areas I wanted to stay in. Queen Anne was at the top of the list, but this beautiful house seemed like it might be too much for the two of us with occasional guests. I booked in anyway as it looked so nice, and am so happy I did! What an incredible house this is-- great views of the Olympics, well appointed in every way, owner very responsive to my queries and concerns. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful and it was truly lovely to be in a neighborhood instead of an hotel downtown. We were there at the height of spring blooms-- tulips, hyacinths, bluebells, and trees bursting out into pinks and whites and lavenders. All visible from our windows. The weather was cold, but we felt cozy inside. Spent many hours (when not running around Seattle) in the master bedroom in the chair by the window reading, crocheting, and admiring the view. So relaxing. We had a few warm sunny days when we took advantage of the front porch for lunch and fresh air. I love that this is an old house that has been lovingly and thoroughly updated. The yards are nicely planted and maintained with many varieties of flowering plants and trees. The master room bed was very comfy (I am very picky about beds), and the king bed in one guest room was also reported to be very comfortable. The brass full-sized bed in the second guest room was not used during our stay, but it looked a little rickety and uncomfortable to me. (probably my only complaint and it didn't really apply to me!) Delightful rain showerhead in master bath; comfy claw foot tub in second bath for a good bubble bath. The living room was spectacular! Big cushy couch, views abundant, and my favorite, the gas fireplace which we switched on when we came in from the cold outside weather. It warmed up the living room (and us!) very quickly. We will definitely book in here again!

Owner response:Thank you, Carol! It was a pleasure having you here. To respond to your only "so-so" comment, the "third bedroom" is exactly that - great for kids, only a full sized bed - all attention is on the first two King-sized rooms...but in fact, guests have reported sleeping wonderfully on the iron bed, and kids have no complaints either! Thanks again for being here and for the great review. Now that summer is really approaching, the gardens are more spectacular then ever - including the farm-share beds filled with strawberries, herbs, artichokes, chocolate and spearmint, onions, tomatoes, etc, etc - lovingly maintained by neighbors, it is our "common wealth" and great eating to boot. All best to you! Nancie
