- Captiva is a beautiful quaint island and small village. There are no high rises and the beaches are fabulous and uncrowded. The wild life is awesome with dolphins, manatee, turtles, and birds. We are located so that you can walk every where or enjoy our optional golf cart. Shelling is some of the best any where....moreless

Made our family vacation perfect!!!
Made our family vacation perfect!!!
I can't say enough good things about this beautiful home! This was my 3rd time visiting the Sanibel/Captiva area but had always just stayed in time-share condos. This time, I was with a big family group- 6 adults and 3 small children so we needed lots of space. Lazy Palm gave us more than enough room and the location was perfect!! We could walk or hop on the golf cart for trips to the beach or restaurants. The bedrooms were so spacious and comfy and kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Everything in the house is modern and the furniture/decor is just gorgeous. This is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. Be sure you spend a few nights out on the decks for some amazing star watching. This was my favorite place to hang out and the kids absolutely LOVED the pool!! There's a number by the phone for any maintenance issues or questions. These guys were on-the-spot! Even for simple stuff like how to work the tv remote controls. You can't go wrong with this place! Beautiful inside and out! The only thing I didn't like was leaving.

Fabulous home and location
Fabulous home and location
Our family of 9 which included 8 adults and an almost nine month old spent an excellent New Year's holiday enjoying Lazy Palm. The photos were accurate as was the location information. Lazy Palm is quiet yet very close to Village dining , shops, the beach and awesome ice cream. The management company literally responded to our concerns within minutes and the owner was equally as helpful. The home is well furnished and the beds were fantastic and the decks and pool were better than pictured. I would recomend this four bedroom home easily and we would love to visit in the future. The addition of the bikes and Golf cart as well as the beach chairs, wagons , toys make this a complete vacation location.

Couldn't have asked for anything more! There were 5 adults and 2 children and plenty of room for everyone. In my opinion, the walk to the beach was an easy one, and Laika Lane is partially shaded in the afternoon for the walk back to the house. It was great being able to walk to dinner on Andy Rosse Lane too. We all agree that we would love to stay there again!

Beautiful home, HOWEVER!!
Beautiful home, HOWEVER!!
This was a beautiful home and fairly close to the beach. Kids loved the bicylces and the adults loved the golf cart. HOWEVER, from day one, we noticed a sewer smell outside while at the pool. We reported this to the rental agency 4 times. They did send someone out but they found nothing. They continued to blame the home behind the Lazy Palm until the sewer smell made it's way into one of the upstairs bathroom shower drains. The rental agency suggested we be refunded some of our money, due to the fact that we weren't able to use the pool, and had 6 kids. That decision would ultimately be made by the homeowner. We spoke with the homeowner, who did not seem to be very sympathetic to our complaint and said she would talk with her husband and get back to us. We have NEVER heard a word from them or the rental agency. BUYER BEWARE: looks great in pictures but there is no sniff button to see if this problem has ever been resolved. Would loved to have given a wonderful review, like the others, and would had, if they made ANY effort to engage in some kind of compensation for advertising a pool, that couldn't be used. And by the way, this is a 4 bedroom home, 5 1/2 bath. Someone seems to have an honesty issue!

Owner response: My desire as an owner is for complete satisfaction of our guests. I do believe we provide that. The complaint about the smell was found to have more to the story. At the first complaint to the rental agency a professional was sent to the home to inspect the septic system which had just been routinely serviced and emptied 2 weeks prior. They reported no problems and no smell. Then there was another complaint by the customer about the air conditioning, so a service person was sent to the home only to find every thing working properly, the air temp the same as the temp the thermostat was set to. The customer later told me he did not see the control on the second floor which is in plain view. While this service man was inside the home he was asked to check the bath rooms and the home for any smell. He said he found nothing any where. When the customer called me later in the week about the smell I explained that we had sent the septic company to check and there was no problem or leakage or detectable smell. And that the service man inside the home also could find nothing so I was confused about what the problem could be. I Told them that I would have some one else come by the home again to see if they could find a problem because the customer said they could not use the pool it was so bad. I sent 2 people from the rental agency and a neighbor to walk around the property. They said there were at least 5 or 6 people swimming in the pool and could find no smell, except one person said there was a slight fishy smell ,but definately not sewer. When I reported that back to the guests they then told me that the smell seemed to come and go. The guests interest seemed to be focused on a sizeable refund telling me that I should consider making them happy customers because unhappy customers tell a lot of people. On Friday night our home inspector was called again about a smell. When he arrived he smelled dead shells and asked the guests if they had taken live shells from the beach and they said yes and that they had buried the animals. He made them aware that taking live shells is illegal and that the smell was from those dead animals. I would gladly have refunded an appropriate amount of money if I had even the slightest hint of a ligitimate problem. Our goal is 100% satisfaction but this seemed to be a different situation. You will LOVE Lazy Palm. Our guest books confirms that our customers have been more than satisfied with every thing for over 3 years.
This was the perfect home for our vacation. We vacationed with family so there were 4 children and 4 adults and this home provided plenty of comfort and space. We did not want for anything! This home came equipped with a high chair, baby gates, pack n play, plenty of beach toys, and a gate for the pool. it made our vacation SO enjoyable. Everything was in excellent condition as well. The beach equipment was VERY good, too. They have plenty of umbrellas and chairs and the wagons are wonderful. Believe it or not, there are some places that do not provide any beach equipment. The home was very clean and obviously kept up well. We loved it! The only problem we had was with the air conditioning and the pool. The pool had not been cleaned and the air conditioner had some problems while we were there. All of these problems were fixed with a call to the management company. The pool situation was a little disappointing as we were looking forward to a nice dip as soon as we arrived on Saturday but the management company and/or the pool company were slow to come and it wasn't cleaned until Tuesday. It needed a good vacuum and cleaning, too. Once it was cleaned it looked great. I would just confirm that the pool has a thorough cleaning prior to your arrival. I highly recommend this place!

This review is long overdue!! Sorry...We stayed here over spring break and it was such a relaxing vacation with our son and in-laws. I was worried about not being "on the water" - The Lazy Palm is a short relaxing walk to the beach. It is decorated perfectly! There are so many great things about this property and would encourage anyone to stay here given the chance. Thanks again for the great vacation and memorable moments with my new born son! I hope we can take him there every year!! Andy (Wisconsin)

Our family was looking for a warm and sunny vacation spot...the beach,a heated pool and 4 bedrooms a must.We reviewed houses on VRBO and emailed owners.Capitiva Island and the Lazy Palm looked like a good choice. It turned out to be the PERFECT choice! From the beautiful beach to the beautiful home and the quiet village between. We found the Lazy Palm to be correctly described by VRBO and the owner. It was clean, well maintained and we enjoyed the many extras. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. Plus, with 3 active toddlers, we were pleased to see the baby gate and pool fence. We did have a couple of questions during the week, but they were quickly answered by Sue at American Reality-thanks! We enjoyed the early Holiday decorations around the village, the Farmer's Market on Sanibel and the fish truck at the Island Store. So,our vacation was better than our expectations, thanks to Captiva Island and the Lazy Palm!

I think that it couldn´t be better. In the middle of Captiva Island, at just a few steps of the beach or marinas, but on a quiet lane. Everything was above our expectations. Wonderfull home, well cleaned and maintained, and a beautifull pool/spa for relax after beach. We hope to come back. I fully recommend.

About the owner: We are a family from Pigeon Forge Tennessee that grew up in the Fort Myers area and have always loved Capitiva! Weekends were always spent boating to this island because of its 'Island Feeling' and beautiful private beaches. We eventually want to retire in this home so when we decided to construct it in 2007 we put in all the special features desired in a private home. We hope you enjoy our home as we do!!
Why the Owner Chose Captiva Island:
We chose this location because of it's beautiful and private beaches. Captiva is also known as the #1 shelling beach in North America and my wife is a 'Shell Lover'.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
