This studio is located in Casco Antiguo (also known as Casco Viejo) in the Unesco World Heritage neighborhood (the "gem" of Panama City).

It is brand new as the building was restored in August 2008 in a newly restored building set on a quiet street where the Mayor has got his office (meaning also security 24 h) and is also home to the oldest church "La Merced" and it's convent right next door - hence the name of the building "PH La Merced".

The studio has all the comfort and more as it has been fitted with crown molding, bamboo floors and custom made furniture. The settings is elegant yet homey and the kitchen is set aside from the main living room and is fully equipped with even a side by side refrigerator!

It is located minutes away from a Gourmet store where you can do your shopping and also be served a nice breakfast, many fine restaurants, a Gourmet Ice cream shop, and important plazas and monuments as the Golden Altar, Plaza Herrera and the main plaza Catedral ;-)

P.S. the studio is located on the second floor...no elevator.

Year Purchased: 2008

Here are your hosts: Patty and Rudy... Patricia is half German and half Belgian, born in Peru but raised in Africa, did her International Baccalaureate in Lesotho and has a degree in Applied Languages (speaks fluently 5) that she did in Aix-en-Provence and then went on to Lyon where she achieved her Master’s degree in hotel management.
Rudy is half Italian and half Panamanian, born in Panama but raised in Rome, went to Notre Dame International School and accomplished a degree in Art History at the John Cabot International University as well as a degree in MCE (Microsoft Certified Engineer) and a certification as a Panamanian tour guide given by the National Tourist Authority.
We both enjoy meeting people from all over the world…hence our choice of making hosting and touring our business.

Why the Owner Chose Panama City

We chose to purchase this property because we love the colonial neighborhood of Casco Viejo (UNESCO World Heritage) – it’s vibrant and has some of the best restaurants in town...not to mention that it is fascinating to wonder about in its little colonial streets admiring the buildings amazing architectures.
It’s the up-coming neighborhood of the city, it is centrally located between the banking district (2 min’s drive) and the Amador Causeway (5 min’s drive) and now is also walking distance to the new coastal belt where you can jog or just take a walk.
Lots of entertainments like the national Theatre and all the different venues: the Jazz and Music festival. You’ll find a variety of little shops with beautiful Panamanian handcrafts and every Sunday the flea market.
Casco Viejo is a great walking neighborhood home to the Presidential Palace, the Mayor’s Office (in our street) and the French Embassy.
It’s a perfect Holiday spot…and we have taken great care of making the condo as cozy as possible with high end amenities.

    • My husband and I were very pleased with Patty and Rudy's studio apt. It was very clean. The mattress was very comfortable... so much so that my husband wants to purchase one just like it. It has all that you need in the modern kitchen. We also loved the old Spanish architecture of the building. There are restaurants, bars, and grocery stores within walking distance. You can walk to the corner and take a taxi to anywhere in the city for very little. Most of all Patty and Rudy were very hospitable and helpful when you had a question on where to go or what to do and see. I would highly recommend this studio to a couple if they are thinking of visiting Panama.

    • The Studio Apt. in Casco Viejo was perfect. This is a first class operation and we felt very comfortable staying here. The tours were very exciting and valuable in learning about the beautfiul country of Panama. Our tour guide Rudy was very knowledgable and helpful.

    • My wife and I stayed in Patty and Rudi's studio apartment in Casco Viejo for a week in January 2009. It is beautiful accommodation and very convenient for walking around the Old Quarter. It is so comfortable, well-finished and presented - it is exactly as shown and described on Patty's website. We took advantage of her recommendations for several local restaurants (we enjoyed every one), and for the nearby mini-supermarkets. For us, the apartment was a quiet haven after busy days of sightseeing. Also, we very much appreciated Patty & Rudi picking us up at the airport. We have no hesitation recommending this accommodation for adults.
