Private Pier on Copano Bay, 2/2 Home, Sunset, Underwater Light
- Minimum stay:Contact owner
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Fish off your own private lighted pier in our backyard or just sit on the deck and watch the sunset.
Our home sits right on Copano Bay - not on a canal - not a 'bay view" - not 'bay access". Right on the bay. There is a huge deck on the bayside with a picnic table and a covered porch. This is the perfect family fishing destination - it just doesn't get easier and more fun. Available for short term rentals as well as monthly for Winter Texans.
You have your own private lighted fishing pier right in the backyard - all to yourself with benches, two separate platforms and a covered cleaning station with power and water. You have a 1500 w high intensity fishing light which really can bring in the fish at night! Access two private boat ramps right in the neighborhood and you are located right on the water and in the heart of some the best saltwater fishing in the state.
Come sit on our deck and watch the dolphins play! Drink coffee in the shade every morning and toast the sunset over the bay every night. Catch redfish, trout, flounder and blue crab from your pier. Watch the majestic blue herons hunting right in your own backyard. The palm trees, the fishing, the view, and the soft air of the Gulf Coast will delight you.
Rockport is also know as a birding destination. Here's a brief of the first 6 months of the Rockport Calendar of Birds:
January- whooping cranes, sandhill cranes, snow geese, snowy and piping plovers, American Avocet and Marled Godwit
February- Harris's Hawk, cranes, Great Kiskadee, Green Jay, Cactus Wren
March-American Golden Plover, Sandpipers, Eared Grebe, hummingbirds
April- broad winged Hawks, Mississippi Kites, warblers, vireos, thrashers, buntings, raptors
May- over 140 species can be expected including warblers, tanager and more
June- Cassin's, White tailed Hawk, Crested Cracara, Greater Roadrunner, Ladder backed woodpeckers, Scissor-tailed flycatchers
Our home has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living room with cable TV. There are two bedrooms and two baths. The bedrooms have queen sized beds and the house sleeps four comfortably. All cooking utensils are provided as well as bed linens. Bring food, clothes, towels and personal items and get ready to relax!
Rockport is the saltwater fishing and birding capital of the Texas Gulf Coast. Just 45 minutes from Port Aransas and Corpus Christi, and an hour from Padre Island, Rockport is a wonderful getaway. Located on the Live Oak peninsula, Rockport is a haven of ancient oak trees surrounded by water on three sides. Rockport is also home to a thriving art community, and along with Fulton, a treasure trove of old Texas history.
Birds on the Bay is in the Holiday Beach neighborhood, located on the northeast shore of beautiful Copano Bay on Lamar Peninsula. We are just across the Copano causeway from Rockport and Fulton on highway 35. The drive to town takes about 13 minutes. By boat you are just a mile or so by water from famed Turtle Pen Point.
The water is 3-4 feet deep at our pier's end, perfect for bay fishing, and boating - but no diving in! Copano bay is perfect for fishing, but for swimming you have plenty of nearby beaches to choose from. The Gulf of Mexico is 45 minutes away on Mustang Island at Port Aransas, with Padre Island National Seashore a little further. Rockport has a shallow, calm sandy beach right in town and it's the state's only Blue Wave Beach. It's perfect for smaller children since there is no current or surf.
You can catch your own dinner here - redfish, trout, flounder as well as shrimp and blue crab can be found right off the pier. Or, you can drive into Rockport, Fulton, Aransas Pass or even Corpus Christi for the freshest seafood around. Try the harbor in Fulton first, there's nothing like buying your shrimp right off the boat!
Annual events within the Rockport/Fulton area include: Fulton Oysterfest, Rockport Art Festival, Fiesta en La Playa, Hummingbird Celebration, Rockport Seafair, and Christmas Celebration or Lights.
The Rockport area is world famous for birding, first class fishing, whooping crane tours, kayak adventures, dolphin watching. Nearby destinations include: Texas Maritime Museum, Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, Rockport Center for the Arts, Copano Bay Causeway State Park. About 30 miles away in Corpus Christi is the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington. The Gulf of Mexico is 45 minutes away on Mustang Island at Port Aransas, with Padre Island National Seashore a little further. Rockport has a calm, shallow sandy beach right in town and it the state's only Blue Wave Beach. It's perfect for smaller children since there is no current or surf.
Copano Bay is a nursery bay, and is permanently closed to shrimp boats throughout the year. As a result, the water is clearer, the fish more plentiful, and the fishing can be fantastic!

This house is amazeing, romantic we have stayed at this house twice now we will go to this house every year for vacation. The fishing is great close to gose island, and downtown Rockport is near by, this house has everything you need you can cook inside and BBQ at night, my husband gets jelious because i catch more fish here than he does. I would recommed this house to anyone. We have other friends whom now stays here also with their kids.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am glad you enjoyed your stay and I look forward to hearing from you again!

My wife and I stayed here at the end of June. As soon as we walked in, we were EXTREMELY impressed . It was well kept and very clean. The Decor was exactly what I personally expected to see at a coastal home. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors were friendly. We did bring a few extra items (just in case) but found out we didn't need them at all. Although we didn't catch any keepers. It was OUR get away for the week and we had a blast. I would recommend this home to ANYONE. thanks for everything.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you and I am glad you were pleased with Redfish Retreat and enjoyed your stay! I hope to hear from you again.

Went down with some friends for some fishing and had a great time. House was nice and clean. Fishing was pretty good...caught several Sting Rays, Big Gar, Flounder, One keeper Speckled Trout (20") with a few smaller trout, small eel, and some Gafftop...all from the pier. We would definately go back again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children.
Owner response: Nice variety of fish Matt! Glad you had a good time and we look forward to hearing from you again.

We absolutely loved staying here!! Caught tons of fish (not all keepers) but the fun is in just catching them! Great place to watch the porpoises feed at night! House was clean and comfortable, good place for families with children or a weekend with friends. Central location, close to causeway, restaurants and stores. Excellent pier and balcony with great view! We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the nice review Becky! I am glad you had a good time. All the trout schooling in the under water light is amazing! We just go back and got a great picture of all the fish. We look forward to hearing from you again!

We had a great time of fishing and relaxing. The private pier was perfect for fishing with our three kids. Each one caught several speckled trout while enjoying the show of a couple of pelicans swooshing down to the water to catch a fish. The accomodations were wonderful, the house was very clean and seemed to have everything that you could possibly think of when furnishing a house for guests: sewing kit, pencil sharpener, puzzles, books and even a few spices in the pantry. We would very highly recommend this to anyone who likes fishing or just relaxing with the family. We look forward to coming back again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. Look forward to hearing from you again. Tami

Over the (early) years, we have stayed many places on the Texas Gulf Coast, but none have given us the feel of "home away from home" as Redfish Retreat...that is why we have been staying in the Carson's family vacation homes now for over 20 yrs. Redfish Retreat has all the amenities you could want, plus the fact it is situated in the lovely & quiet community of Holiday Beach, on the pristine Copano Bay. Photo opportunities are endless with its beautiful sunsets as well as the variety of birds...and for those of you, like us, who enjoy a good thunderstorm now & again, the show over the bay can be spectacular! And the fishing...some of the very best the gulf has to offer ...from the private pier right at your back door!! We have, on several occasions, "limited-out" on consecutive days. With town of Rockport/Fulton literally just a couple minutes away, you have everything you need...public boat ramps, bait stands, shops galore, & an eclectic variety of restaurants (not to mention the movie theater that runs current movies & still has free popcorn/bring your own bowl every Tuesday). AND the fact that not only is the home well maintained, very clean, & quite lovely, Tami & Jim are two of the nicest "hosts" you'll ever deal with, making the experience even that much better.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Tara!

We live in Texas and just wanted to get away but also get the feeling of a beach mini vacation. Well this place really hit the spot! It was really nice having your own private pier to fish off all night. We caught a ton of fish and a sting ray. We saw dolphins swim right by us. This getaway was a very memorable Memorial Day. It was a great trip we plan to go again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the review Leyla. We look forward to hearing from you again!
