LAVA TUBE HALE

The Big Island of Hawaii is never complete without spending time at the exciting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. After a day of exploring the park retreat to the Lava Tube Hale. The spectacular lava tube in the yard is a wonder to gaze upon while taking in the surrounding rain forest. And, there’s nothing better after a long hike than soaking in the hot tub on the covered lanai.

Inside, you’ll be greeted in the kitchen with a Hawaiian greeting painted by local artist Anne Whitmore: E Komo Mai Me Ke Aloha I Ka Wehe O Ka Ohia Lehua. Translated it means: Welcome with love to the forest of the Ohia trees.

Enjoy playing board games or sharing a meal around the teak coffee table. The rocking chair provides a great place to read a book by the fire. CD stereo and complimentary high-speed Internet are also available in the living room in case you get the urge to check your e-mail or surf the Internet.

This cozy little hale is a great place to kick back and relax. Every window offers a view of the rainforest with its beautiful Ohia trees and Hapu ferns.

The Volcano area has a choice of nine restaurants and cafes, two convenience stores, the Volcano Winery, golf, a bird park and hiking trails. 30 minutes to Hilo and thirty minutes to Punalu’u Black Sand Beach.
