Why the Owner Chose Newburyport

We used to live in this home and love Newburyport and New England. We have family in the area and remodeled the home for our retirement.

The Unique Benefits at this House

We are able to walk to everything....Coffee shops, restaurants, outdoor concerts, plays. Hiking and cycling in Maudslay State Park is fanastic and it is only a short bike ride to walk the 6.2 miles of sandy beaches on Plum Island. The train to Boston is less than 1 mile away, if we want to visit the city! It's a quick 38 mile drive from Boston Logan and close to the best of New Historic Portsmouth NH is only 25 minutes away and the outlet shops in Kittery only 35 minutes. We love walking and admiring the historic homes.

A
Boardwalk along the Waterfront

Beautiful walkway with plenty of benches for people & boat watching. Go Whale watching, deep sea fishing or take a dinner cruise.

C
Underground Railroad Tunnels from Seaport

Sea Captains, angered by high taxes, often smuggled goods through secret tunnels in Boardman Street. These tunnels were later used by the underground to transport fugitive slaves. Houses on both sides

Great Family Rental

Guest: Houston Granny (Houston TX)
Date of Stay: 08/01/09 Review Submitted: 08/11/09

Our family (6 adults and 3 kids) loved this house--well appointed, fabulous kitchen, plenty of room, great location--overall perfect. The house is very open so we weren't tripping over each other. We watched fireworks over the water from the upstairs deck. Had most of our meals on the backyard patio. We were able to walk just across the street to a park for the kids and to a boardwalk that went along the harbor. Easy walk to all the downtown shops and restaurants. We would rent again in a hearbeat.

Fantastic long term rental while renovating

We has a fantastic experience at 6 Boardman (we rented for 5 weeks in March/April 2011). It's a beautifully renovated, sparkling clean/organized and super convenient attached house in downtown Newburyport. The listing is perfectly representative of the property. We really appreciated that the house was stocked - with kitchen utensils, sundries, linens, touring books and other "away from home" necessities (games, puzzles, toiletries, you name it). We loved being in town and the proximity of the waterfront playground was perfect for us (we have two young children). We enjoyed walking to Newburyport's great restaurants and cute shops. It's the perfect place for a short or long stay. And, working with Sara (the owner) and next door neighbor/property manager was seamless. Can't say enough about it. We would definitely stay here again and would think of it for holidays when extended family comes to visit and we need more space. Thank you Sara and Barbara!

Fun with our kids

Guest: Elise S. (New England)
Date of Stay: 07/19/10 Review Submitted: 04/27/11

We stayed at this lovely home last summer with our toddler and 5 year old. We can't to return this summer as the home itself is beautiful and the location ideal for our family. We walked to the park/playground across the street every day and downtown for ice cream and more time on a playground in the center of town every night. We chose to drive (25 min.) to Cranes Beach in Ipswich because it is stunning and has great facilities/lunch/snacks for families. This year we will check out Plum Island as well. Newburyport is also a great location for day trips to NH just for fun, but there is no need to be anywhere else. The bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms and living area are all newly remodeled, clean and well appointed. The owners and their neighbors (property managers) were kind and helpful. This is a super place to visit.

Girls Weekend

The accommodations at this Newburyport home were fantastic! Spacious, great location, clean, and cozy! We loved this home! It was perfectly suited for our get-together. The nights were chilly outside and the wonderful fireplace was an added bonus for sitting around with friends. The neighbor gave us a wonderful tour of the home and answered all of our questions. Just a great place all around! Thanks so much!

Great house!

Guest: Jenny (Amesbury)

My family from Germany stayed at his house the week of my wedding. The house was fabulous and everybody couldn't have been happier. It's spacious, clean and everything looks brand new. The house is maintained by the neighbors who are extremly nice and helpful. The location is also great because my family could walk to downtown Newburyport and enjoy the fun shops there. My family loved it so much they didn't even want to leave.

Wonderful vacation home!

Guest: rld (Dallas, TX)
Date of Stay: 07/12/10 Review Submitted: 07/24/10

We had a fabulous time staying in this home in Newburyport. We have rented several properties through VRBO over the years and this is by far the most well-appointed house we have experienced. Everything you could possibly need is available. The house is in a wonderful location and was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 2 young children. There was plenty to do in the area to keep us occupied all week. Tons of great restaurants for when we wanted to dine out, and a well-stocked kitchen in the home for when we wanted to cook. All in all, we couldn't ask for more!

Great Newburyport Rental

Guest: Patty (Piedmont, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/03/10 Review Submitted: 07/22/10

We have been renting houses while visiting family in Newburyport each summer for the last 5 years and this is by far the best house we have rented in town. The interior was recently and very nicely renovated. The location is excellent - we have two small kids (2 & 4) and found the proximity to the park and rail trail great. We like to stay in town (vs. the beach) to walk to shops & restaurants and this location is indeed close enough for an easy 5 minute walk into the thick of things. The managers Barbara & Frank live in the adjacent townhouse and are very nice and respectfully helpful. The unit is insulated well enough that we never heard them and we hope they didn't hear our young boys! We thought with two young children that the lack of a parking spot would be a big issue but it was not as we almost always parked on the street across from the house. In short, we hope we can stay here next summer!

Our winter stay during a January weekend at this home was wonderful. There is still much to do in Newburyport during the winter season. We were within walking distance of great shopping, theater, dining and night time entertainment. The home is inviting, very well kept and spacious. Looking forward to a future return trip!
