This home was convenient to all Healdsburg Wineries and Restaurants. Very comfortable and equipped, plus access to the river. Truly enjoyed our stay with friends. Only negative is the road getting there is scary but that's pretty much every road in wine country but the major ones.

Owner response: We're glad you and your friends enjoyed your stay at Redwood Tree House. It is true that many of our wine country roads are narrow and winding. While that contributes to the European charm of the area, it is important to remember to always drive carefully, especially while wine tasting, with a designated non-drinking driver.

The Redwood Tree House is exactly as described and maybe even better. It's an enchanting house on a river surrounded by beautiful redwood trees. It is located in one of the prettiest areas of Sonoma Valley and an easy drive to the wineries. The kitchen is well stocked and the owner has a TV in every room and plenty of games and music CD's. The deck is a perfect place for enjoying wine and star gazing. Nearby Healdsburg is a pretty town with many great restaurants and shops and is only a 10 min. drive from the Tree House. I spent a week there with my girlfriends but would love to bring my husband back for a romantic weekend. The owner, Rolly, is extremely helpful with many great suggestions of where to eat and areas to visit. Also, if you have time, there's a wonderful little restaurant in town that I would highly recommend called Zen. Overall, the Redwood Tree House was a wonderful experience.

Our stay at the Redwood Treehouse was wonderful. It was honestly like being at home as our own house has many similarities (no redwood tree growing in the middle of our house, though). One thing I noticed particularly was the feel of the energy there. It is a happy and contented energy which has no doubt come in part from many joyous gatherings over time. Like those before us, we didn't want to leave. Thank-you Linda and Rolly for creating such a peaceful and welcoming environment. Our son's wedding weekend was made that much more special because of it. We will bask in the aftergow a long long time. Kindest regards and sincerest thanks, Verna & Bob :-)

We stayed in the Redwood Tree House for a long weekend in June. This home is very unique and a delight to stay in. You actually enter the home through a giant redwood tree and there is a glassed in Tree growing through the middle of the house! Laying in bed looking up through the skylights to the towering redwoods was amazing. The home is well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay, free wifi internet and even a "house" computer if you don't bring your own. The deck, river views, hot tub, gardens are fantastic! You will not be disappointed if you stay here! We had a 2 families (4 adults and 4 teenagers) stay in the home and separate La Casita and we were very comfortable. If you need more space, there are other rentals on the road. You will love the Redwood Tree House!

Such a delightful home and property in every way - the owners clearly care about extra special touches like fresh-picked flowers, a bottle of wine on the counter, etc. It feels like a rainforest with a sweet little river in the backyard. Plenty of room for a large groups but cozy enough for a small one. Simply delightful, the home is wonderful enough by itself but is located within easy distance of Healdsburg, wine country and great hiking.

Our 2nd stay at the Redwood Tree House and it feels like it’s our dream vacation home. Enjoyed the best of all worlds. Sunning by the river, relaxing in the hot tub, stargazing at night, cozy fireplace, visiting with family and friends that live nearby, a drive to Mendocino coast and fine dining in Healdsburg too! Could have easily stayed twice as long. Comfortably equipped. Hope to be back again soon.

This is a fabulous property on the Russian River in a very quiet neighborhood, and only three miles from Healdsburg. The house is well-equipt and comfortable with a spacious eating area for morning coffee as you watch the river and wildlife below. The beds were comfortable including a daybed which is large enough for an adult. Rolly was wonderful to work with and extremely efficient with the booking. Would definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Redwood Tree House. We've rented many houses on the river but the RTH is by far the best because of its location and the proximity to the town square of Healdsburg. The house was very cozy - it is neat to have the redwood tree in the kitchen and the front door is very whimsical. We had such a great time.

We rented for 3 days over Easter this year. First the house is everything that is advertised, the deck looks out onto the river, the jacuzzi is tucked away in the back yard amoung lush greenery and the house does have a beautiful tree encased in glass. I was impressed by the small things, having shampoo, lotions great towels and sheets and the lovely greeting of wine when you first entered the house. It is very quiet and only a short 3 mile ride to healdsburg. Everything worked and the house was very clean. There is deck furniture to enjoy the river and a large dining area inside the house that overlooks the river. Thanks to the owners for allowing guests to enjoy their home. Susan

My wife and I love new vacation experiences. We saved an article in Wine Enthusiast about unique places in wine-producing areas around the world. The Redwood Tree House was featured, and so we decided to give it a try for a weekend. We were not disappointed. In fact, it was like getting 2 vacations. The first, of course, was Wine Country. Healdsburg is the latest hot spot of Sonoma County, with great places for a quick bite (Bovolo, on the square, cures its own meats and focuses on local and organic) or fancy meal (Dry Creek Kitchen, etc.), interesting shopping, several tasting opportunities. A few miles further, in the Dry Creek area, the winery touring couldn't be better--small, family wineries on winding country roads producing great wines without the tour buses and Disney atmosphere of other areas. Our 2nd vacation was the house. This is pure Northern California Getaway. Yes, a majestic redwood grows right in the middle of it! But beyond this "one of a kind" feature, we found the historic property to be so cozy, restful, and soothing that it was almost hard to motivate ourselves to hit the winery trail. The Russian River flowed lazily below our huge deck. The hot tub, tucked in a nearby fern grotto, was divine. And in the evenings, we loved snuggling in front of the big old river-stone fireplace. The grounds are immaculately maintained, and we found the house to be very well appointed. The guest instructions were quite complete (we wanted to shut off a string of tiny white lights on the deck and couldn't find a switch--but then found how to do the job in these instructions.) Bottom line: We hope to go back again. This place would be great for a family gathering!

The owners completely forgot we were coming after being paid in full so that was a huge pain as we could not enter the property with no keys. The one and only bathroom in the main house is in need of remodeling in a bad way. The shower/bath area is not safe to get in and out of for people of any age. The washer/dryer are extra fees and again a pain to use as they are outside in an awkward shed. The heating/cooling system is way out of balance so that the bedrooms are extremely hot if using the heat and the main body of the house is freezing. We found all the games with no exception had all missing pieces so none could be used. The only TV is the house is not in a great position for you to comfortably watch it unless you stand up by the door! Most of the floodlamps that light up the redwood tree (which is what you come to see) at night where burned out. The little white lights outside the house would burn during the day but not at night when you want them. The dining room table is way too big for a cozy setting as you could sit maybe a dozen people there. There are a couple of barstools on an island but the area is too tight and not easy to have conversations around. Be careful if you use the sink in the island as the water fixture is way too big for the tiny sink and you'll get soaked! There are fanel sheets on the bed which no one evers uses so you better bring your own. No 800 or 1,000 count sheets were to be found which is expected when you pay this much money. The house is right on top of everyone else on the street and there is no privacy. You would probably only choose this house if couldn't find anything else. Then, you are paying top dollar and the house just isn't worth that much rental money.

Owner response: We are sorry that this guest had a negative experience at our vacation home. It is true that the key packet was not at the appointed place upon their arrival (our oversight). However, immediately upon receiving her phone call we directed her to an alternate set of keys and dispatched our property manager to help her get settled in. Our manager lives 5 minutes away and is on call 24/7 and he would have gladly resolved lighting or other maintenance issues upon request. If we had been informed that the sunken jacuzzi bathtub was inconvenient, we would have made the guest cottage shower available for use. However, we were never notified of these or other issues until after the guest had departed. It is important to note that few older riverfront homes in our area were designed with family rooms set up for TV watching. Many guests select our property to enjoy the ambiance of the river, our large wraparound deck, hot tub, old stone fireplace, the charming town of Healdsburg and the beautiful surrounding wine country (vs. TV watching). For this reason, and feedback from guest surveys, we have not made TV a central focus in our home. We're sorry that game pieces were missing or misplaced. This issue was addressed immediately. Other clarifications: (a) our property is located on two adjacent lots, below the road at the end of a dead end street. Most guests have noted how quiet and private it is (vs."on top of everyone else on the street", as this guest describes); (b) our Mission style dining table seats 8 (not 12 as the guest describes) and overlooks the river, an amenity our guests say they enjoy, especially during the holidays and for larger group gatherings; (c) during winter months we provide high quality 100% cotton flannel sheets which most guests appreciate; (d) the home heating system is controlled by thermostat and may be adjusted for optimum comfort. We found it curious that this guest had booked our Main House for 2 persons (at a discounted price w/reduced cleaning fees), yet 3 beds and both bedrooms were used. This guest demanded a substantial refund, implying that she would post a negative review if we did not agree to her terms. We are reasonable people, but we do not respond favorably to threats and personal accusations. We have owned our vacation home for more than 5 years and we're proud of the many positive reviews we've received, many recorded in our guest books for all to see. Please contact us for more comment on our position re: this post.
