"Plum Nearly" has recently completed major remodeling with new carpet and tile throughout the 2300+ sq ft house, granite countertops in the kitchen, new stainless appliances and tasteful decorative accents by interior designer Kathryn Kane formerly of DWR East Hampton NY including beaded board wainscoting & crown molding to give it that "antique beach cottage" look. Ground floor has 2 adult suites each with queen bed and adjoining bath, plus a small fridge, coffee maker & microwave. Upstairs is a spacious family room where you will find new furnishings, 1 sofa, 2 love seats, a 40" LCD/HD TV + DVD and a hi-speed cable modem internet with wireless router for wifi service throughout the house. The dining table, bistro table and breakfast bar provide lots of seating for your family meals. The kitchen comes fully equipped with practically every conceivable cooking utensil.
The large wrap around porch off the family room provides a perfect location for keeping an eye on the kids in the private pool (newly re-surfaced) while relaxing in the gulf breezes or cooking on the propane BBQ grill and viewing the beach from the new deck extension. Master suite on 2nd floor includes a king size pillow top bed plus adjoining bath with a closet organizer and double door entry, new 32" Sony Bravia LCD/HD TV + DVD player, love seat and private balcony. Top floor tower room is an ideal kids retreat with 1 twin x full bunk bed and another twin x full futon bunk bed, a private balcony, desk and a TV/DVD/VCR + Playstation 3 with games. There are TV's and video players in each bedroom, a huge variety of beach and pool toys, board games, paperbacks and an extensive collection of movies.
Only 60 steps down the cul-de-sac to the sandy beach and no streets for the kiddo's to cross in this gated, gulf front community. Shops and restaurants are within 100 yards at Gulf Place + Grayton Beach, Seaside and Watercolor are just a few miles away. You can even find wild blackberries on our lot in the springtime! Ample parking for 4-5 cars. Pool can be heated for an extra charge. Equipped with a new electronic door lock system - so you won't need to get keys @ a rental office before checking in!

Why the Owner Chose Sunrise Beach
We have been going to the South Walton beach area for a long time and had always wanted to own a beach house. The ambiance and culture here are a perfect match for what my family wanted - beautiful beaches, friendly people, good for walking or biking to places. County highway 30A goes right by Sunrise Beach and was awarded a "scenic highway" designation by the state of Florida in 2008. Gulf Place is less than 100 yards from our lot & the new Panama City Beach airport is only 35 minutes away.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Convenient to walk to Gulf Place, the beach in Sunrise Beach is private not public, several great restaurants near by (several flyers in the house from previous guests to give you ideas on where to dine or where to rent a bike or kayak for instance), playing or relaxing on the beach, visiting Seaside, shopping @ the outlets in Destin & Panama City Beach, crabbing at our beach in the evening, surf fishing, family get togethers, just plain relaxing, golfing nearby and enjoying the beach ambiance.

We live in the Houston Texas area, have 3 grown children + 1 special needs grandson and for us we've always had to have at least 1 beach vacation every year. We love our home & the area & go there for a visit every 2-3 months. We are always adding to & upgrading things and absolutely love it when we hear from our guests that they had a wonderful time. We love redecorating our beach house and just added a bunch of beaded board & crown molding. We especially enjoy doing BBQ on the deck and looking at the beach views and sunsets.

First, this is a GREAT location. I loved the gated community, the colorful houses and the proximity to the beautiful beach. It really is steps away just down the street. You are far enough away from Destin that you don't have to deal with all the traffic, yet close enough that it only takes minuts to get to any shopping. Having the pool was also a huge plus on days we wanted to take a short dip without having the hastle of carrying gear to the beach and having to clean sand off of everything or in the evening just to cool off and relax together. The property is nice and seems to be well maintained. We were able to easily park 3 vehicles in front. I notice the liisting has been changed to "sleeps 10" rather than 12, as it was listed when I made my reservation over a year ago for our 11 person family gathering. Ten is probably a more realistic capacity. One person in our family did use the sleeper-sofa in the living room, But with the kitchen/dining/living area as one large space, we always felt bad making too much noise in the mornings or evenings if that person was wanting to be sleeping. The deck off the back was nice for just hanging out with your morning cup of coffee or wathcing the sunset in the evenings. The grill could use some TLC. It's pretty rusty inside so most of the flame stays in the back where the baffles had rusted out. But we still managed to grill a few nights. This was my first time doing somehting like this. The owner was most helpful in answering my questions. Also, he sent about 4 or 5 pages of all kinds of instructions and information from emergency numbers to local points of interest. And after the conclusion of our stay, my deposit was refunded even more quickly than I expected. This was just what we were looking for, a nice, family oriented house that felt like our home away from home for the week. My parents got to relive some of their memories of beach vacations our family had taken from when I was a kid. My sister and her family took a deep sea fishing trip out of Destin. My family spent a day of snorkling and shell collecting on Shell Island near Panama City Beach. I would most certainly recommend this wonderful beach retreat.

Have been to Beaches of South Walton / Santa Rosa / 30A area at least 10x in the last 15 years. My wife and I love this home and its access to the beach, the shops and the bike path that stretches from Santa Rosa to Rosemary Beach (15 miles+ each way). The water is beautiful, the pool is a nice option if you get tired of the beach and Bloom's across the street is quite a dining adventure. Whether a small group or larger group, Plum Nearly works as the perfect home away from home with all the amenities you would need (wifi, DVD, kitchen, bbq, etc). The owners are very attentive and the home is just perfect for our needs. Our dogs love the pool area and have a blast on the beach, just make sure to get a pet tag if you walk your dogs on the beach.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My husband and I just spent a lovely week with our adult daughter and her family (three little ones), as well as my elderly father. The house was comfortable and worked well for all of the ages in our group. This property is well appointed and the owner great to work with Great location and gorgeous beaches. We'd all love to go back next year!
