Apart from swimming in the ocean, Playa Escondida has also some of the most consistent and exciting surfing point on the planet!
OUTDOOR LIVING, INDOOR COMFORT, LIVING AT ITS BEST
The house permits the perfect mix of outdoor living and state-of-the-art central air-conditioning for the kitchen, living room and bedrooms. The main story is centered around an outdoor living room with a precious 10ft long teak dining table that can sit 10 people, plus rattan loveseats where you can lounge. The large living room has a 40” LCD HD TV and home theater, a supersized coffeetable with drawers full of games for all ages. Become an ocean view cook experimenting in a beautiful solid cedar kitchen with granite tops and new stainless steel appliances. Take the solid teak stairs to a deck facing the garden and access the 10ft ceiling bedrooms. The Lemon Room has two queen beds separated by a wood and sandblasted glass (balinese wall) wall, and a large private bathroom with shower. The Coral Room has a beautiful colonial-style mahogany bed and private bathroom. The Indigo Room has two large spaces separated with a balilnese wall, the first has two twin beds, the second two full beds made of wood and black bamboo, they enjoy a large bathroom with a shower and two sinks. Separate Laundry Room with new washing and drying machines. Chairs for the beach. In the garden two thirty foot Ylang-ylang trees perfume the house at dusk.
PRECIOUS WOOD
The house was recently built. It's finishes are premium quality. It is reinforced concrete, thick and tall whitewashed walls. Exotic wood doors, windows, columns and beams and even floor to ceiling sliding doors and shades will be the best you have ever seen. Bamboo ceilings, Italian ceramic floors, teak decks, natural stone carved sinks in the bathrooms.
GOLF, MARINA, RAINFOREST, ETC
Although the beach is secluded and 'hidden'( playa escondida )by the mountains, before arriving you pass Los Sueños Resort which has a paradisiacal 18-hole golf course and the best marina in the country, along with restaurants, spa, shops, etc. Half an hour away lies del town of Jacó Beach, which enjoys a lively nightlife. Even closer you find the impressive Carara National Park, a 470 hectare monument to Costa Rica's amazing biodiversity. Discover nature along its trails, on a boat, hiking or mountain biking!
TO COOK, OR NOT TO COOK
Unusual for Latin America, a high end supermarket (plus shops) caters to the most picky buyer, just five minutes away. You may also avoid it and enjoy great food in the many restaurants nearby.

Traveling with young children internationally always causes added stress to planning a vacation and the single most important thing for me was finding lodging to make them comfortable so that we could relax too! This home was perfect! To begin, the homeowner met us at the rental car office to escort us to Herradura and see that we would be comfortable. It blew me away--her willingness to accommodate us! The house is absolutely beautiful, and yet, not so "stuffy" that we were afraid to feel at ease. The design of the house allows maximum relaxation with sleeping quarters separated from living spaces. Perfect for putting kids (and tired grown-ups) to bed without shutting the party down! It was nicely situated to the beach and the community pools. The kitchen and dining areas are great for eating in as a family. The owners were so helpful in aiding us with internet connections, offering tourist advice and making themselves available to answer questions. The maid service was extraordinary, and the security guards did a fantastic job for us. We left dreaming about how to get back to Costa Rica, to Herradura, and this home as soon as possible! Many thanks for extending such wonderful hospitality!

We recently spent five precious days with three other couples at this gorgeous home. Our mornings and evenings were spent relaxing on the porch overlooking the water, admiring red Macaws flying by, watching sunsets, cooking breakfast , and listening to the waves and the birds.. Steps from the beach, we would amble down for a walk or take a dip in the pool. The home is spotless, tastefully decorated, well located and everything one could ask for. The owner is delightful and considerate. What a way to vacation!

This is a wonderful holiday spot. The villa is about a two hour drive from the international airport on a somewhat challenging mountain road with beautiful views of the country. The villa is approximately 15 minutes from Jaco and there is an excellent grocery store ten minutes away.There are many restaurants in the vicinity. The villa itself is beautiful -very spacious (lots of room for six adults) and well equipped. The beach is ideal -clean, with lovely sand. Perfect for swimming and even surfing but not a snorkelers' destination . There are wonderful nature reserves with fabulous birds and reptiles including crocodiles. Having a car is essential. There is no internet or international cellular connectivity from the villa although thjere is a landline telephone available. The owners are exceptionally kind and helpful.
Owner response:happlly we don't need the mountain road anymore, there is a brand new highway that connects the city to the port of Caldera, and drops you near the beach in approximately one hour. Internet is available and included through a data card for the use of your computer 3G cellphones have connectivity
