Trolley stops at end of the street for a convenient, scenic ride around Bethany and then to the beach. Quiet, dead-end street which is perfect for the kids to play. Custom built in 2001 is always booked for the season.

We just arrived home from South Haven and I cannot express what a lovely home this is. The house is not only beautifully decorated,and clean, it is equipped with anything and everything you may need. Add to that wonderful owners and how could you not enjoy your vaction. This truly felt like our home away from home. The walk to the beach was short enough that we chose to do that instead of riding the trolley, but with the stop only a few feet from the house, it was always an option. Also, the the quiet, tree-filled neighborhood was close enough to the excitement of the beach and downtown, while providing a quiet place to enjoy family and friends. I understand why this home books up for the season. Hopefully we will be able to return again next year.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Webster defines a haven as a place of refuge or rest; a sanctuary. With its soft buttery walls, comfortable furniture and beds, sparkling windows and skylights and inviting conversation nooks, "South Haven" was indeed all those things. Everything in this well-located, fully-equipped house is immaculate and pristine. In reality, it is even lovelier than the photos depict. The owners have taken great care to provide many extras and upgrades, from high grade kitchen appliances, natural tile, Berber carpet, granite counter tops and top quality cabinets and vanities. You'll find ample storage and closet space, covered parking under the deck (keeps cars cool on hot summer afternoons), a delightful screened-in porch, private decks off the living room and 2 bedrooms, a shady swing and a spic-and-span outdoor shower. While walkable for teens and healthy adults, we opted to drive to the beach since we had little ones and all the "must-have" equipment they need. We were able to park on the second block from the beach using the 2 residential parking permits supplied to park close to the-- we chose to park on Maplewood Drive near St. Martha's Episcopal since an umbrella place is right there, and the beach is guarded but less crowded. (Just remember to leave both permits when you depart. Believe me, they become a fixture on your rear view mirror and are quite easy to overlook,) We saved a ton of $ by eating in a lot-- we usually ordered a main dish, and then filled in with sides we made ourselves-- cole slaw, applesauce, a big salad, baked potatoes or fries. If you like BBQ, Bethany Blues is GREAT-- we bought sandwich rolls at Giant, and ordered a couple of lbs. of Carolina and Beef Brisket and a few racks of ribs from BB. A Touch of Italy in Lewes, DE was worth the trip-- best sandwiches my NY-born-and-raised husband ever had, and their handmade ravioli was another favorite dinner. Going out? SKIP FAT TUNA and drive the 20 minutes to Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth-- both are big, noisy fish joints, but the food at BFG beats Fat Tuna by far. P.S. Can you believe a dozen jumbo crabs from The Blue Crab were $120? YIKES! We got a dz mediums instead for $54 and there were outstanding-- meaty, well-seasoned and delish! In summary, South Haven is a lovely property, in the perfect location to enjoy all the quaint charm of Downtown Bethany, first class beaches, delicious food and all the joys of summer on Delaware's glorious shore! You can't go wrong.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

We just returned from out visit. 'South Haven' is an easy walk to the boardwalk at Bethany. The home is nestled in a peaceful, tree-filled area. (the trolley is steps from the front door) The home has everything you could possibly need and the master bed was comfy. Loved the screened in deck as well as the other decks. Mindy makes the rental smooth and easy and provides a travel check list and a check out list (ahem) and places to visit. We are planning out next trip and have found our 'Haven' away from home. The home is beautifully decorated and roomier than the pictures portrayed. Dale and Janet BrosiusRecommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

A reduced rate for 2 during the off-season. $375 for 2 nites. 3 nite minimum for holiday weekends. Linens available during off-season for a fee. 6% Bethany town tax additional on all rentals.

About the owner: Joe and I have 3 adult children. I retired from the Department of Homeland Security (TSA) at Washington Dulles International Airport after ten years of service. Joe works for Fairfax County Public Schools and during the summer you will find him driving the trolley around Bethany.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Tingles Addition:
Joe and I vacationed in Bethany for 4 years with our 3 children before we had this home custom built.
We realized an oceanfront home was out of our reach so decided to have a home built as close as possible.
We have discovered it is the best of both worlds to be a part of the town. Walks and trolley rides to the town and beach are delightful.
