Great Spot by the Lake

We stayed at this cabin during the week of June 19-26,2011. We had a great time! It is a lovely, rustic but elegant cabin--well equipped and very clean. It is a short walk away from lake shore. It has a large wrap-around deck from which to enjoy a beautiful view of the lake. Excellent for families and/or couples looking for a serene, private time away. We will definitely be coming back.

Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

Family Vacation

Our family spent a week and enjoyed it thoroughly. The location was perfect... short walk to the park for the grandchildren... shorter walk to the beach and lake to enjoy our seadoo... no need for a vehicle all week... quiet neighborhood... cabin had plenty of room for our large group and was child and pet friendly... kitchen utensils made meal planning simple... we also found the neighbors very friendly and helpful... our only regret was that we were unable to stay longer... have rebooked for next year and hope to make it a yearly tradition!!

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

The House was a good size with 4 bedrooms with 4 queens and 1 bedroom with 2 twins.The view from the back deck is very nice and having the eagles nest there with the babies was great for the kids. It was nice to have a washer/dryer handy. The price does reflect the 'star' rating. I would give it a 2.5 star. The pictures are quite out of date, the front deck picture does not reflect the overgrowth of the vines, you can barely sit out front. The Fridge was holding together with tape, and the doors in the house were hard to close. Be careful on the deck as there are some lose boards. It does need a major interior face lift. The 'stones throw' from the beach is not accurate. you do need to walk down a pretty steep hill past 2 houses to get to the road, and then up the road to the 'small' grass area that the water is at. The walk up the hill back to the house is a treck with the kids and paraphernalia that you take to the beach. I would recommend for budget travellers.

Owner response:The interior of the cabin has no need of upgrading. We have spent considerable time and money to give it a look that is suitable to the lake and mountain environment. The floors and ceilings are pine and much of the furniture including chairs, huge dining table and master bedroom bed are made of logs as are coffee, end and bedside tables. The kitchen and bathroom cabinetry is pine. The vines on the back deck have suddenly exploded; this is true. We really like them as they give the place a natural ambiance and privacy. But the photos on VRBO are up to date and show exactly what the cabin looks like – front and back and inside and out. The refrigerator is not held together by tape. Earlier guests stuffed the shelves in the door too full of beverages and broke the railings. We did tape one of them together for the time being and ordered in new railings from Frigidaire. They have just now arrived. The cabin has a wrap around deck that is very convenient and has a great view as shown in our photo. The deck is as sturdy and safe as any deck could possibly be. The cabin sits on a hill above and very close to the lake. Thus the beautiful view. There is a swimming area right at the bottom of the hill or, if people prefer, they can walk down the road about a hundred yards to another swim area with a sand beach.

Recommended for:Pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Wow! What beauty and comfort!

I stayed at this place for a week with my grandson, my sister and her grandson. We had a fantastic time. The spaciousness of the house was great for the two kids to run around in. The view...beautiful, complete with a hawk's nest right in the back yard. Beaches were also great, we went every day. The house is nice and clean and has everything we needed and more. Don't hesitate to stay here!
