Our group debated for a while as to whether we would stay in Old San Juan or in a resort and I am so glad we chose the former. While Old San Juan is the oldest part of Puerto Rico, it's also the the most idyllic. Just a short 5-10 minute walk from the house, we could reach a huge number of restaurants and souvenir shops as well as both historic forts in Old San Juan. The house itself was both spacious and clean, with everything in working order. I particularly enjoyed the open hallway leading to a private patio in the middle of the house. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking supplies and dishware which made preparing breakfast and dinner easy. For beach gear, the owners provided beach towels, buckets for sand, boogie boards, and more. I definitely enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend this house to other vacationers looking for a quaint home to stay in Puerto Rico.

Owner response: Hi Helen, Maria & I enjoyed hosting your tsay here in Old San Juan.......whenever you plan to visit our wonderful Island again, please keep us in mind as we will be happy to host your stay again.

The beautiful layout and decoration in this home made it a great setting for our Puerto Rican vacation. We found it to be large enough to comfortably accommodate 6 adults. The open hallway and living room area is perfect for making the most of your time in the apartment. The living room / dining room area has space for at least 12 people to sit and eat, play or just catch up on old times, and the kitchen is very conveniently laid out to make meal or snack preparation easy. If you're planning to spend time in Old San Juan, this is the perfect location. From the apartment, we walked all over the Old San Juan area. Within walking distance you can find a grocery and drug store, a wide variety of food and drink, as well as the museums and forts that bring Old San Juan's history to life. Taxi access to the other areas of San Juan was always easy to arrange. This property was in great shape and the hosts provided plenty of clean towels (including a big portable bucket of beach towels). The washer/dryer is a nice convenience to have while on vacation. Our vacation went so smoothly that we had almost no need to talk to the hosts, but it was nice to know that they were nearby, if anything were to come up. Michael was even nice enough to share 3 delicious mangoes with us.

Hi there!! We had a wonderful time! It was clean and spacious. You couldn't tell that 8 people were living there for a week. My only suggestion would be kitchen towels :) I would definitely recommend this place to a friend and plan to return sometime! Thanks so much! Kimberly and co.

This apartment is superb: Beautiful, exceptionally clean, modern amenities, warm and gracious property owner, and extraordinary furnishings and architectural details. It is even more stunning than the photos. We rented it for a family reunion with six people, and the highlight of each day was breakfast in the courtyard and relaxing in the evening. We could not have been happier to have found such a perfect spot. It is the perfect mix of colonial charm with tasteful modern features, in a location that puts you just steps away from historic sites, and the best restaurants, shops, galleries and attractions in Old San Juan. It is close to the water, as well, with water views as soon as you step out the front door. We highly recommend this apartment.

My friends I had a great time staying in this apartment. It is situated in a fabulous location, were we always felt safe. The service we received was top notch; your people were always quick to respond over email and text. The whole process was made as simple as possible. The apartment was very clean and spacious. The beds were comfy though I think I would have preferred the softness of my own pillow. No A.C., but the fans were plenty to keep us cool. One shower between 8 people was a challenge but for the price and charm of this place we felt it was completely worth it! We especially enjoyed the joint hall way and open air patio, what a perfect place to play card games and read books. The internet worked well and we never once felt the need to turn on the T.V. The apartment was an easy walk to wonderful historical sites, beaches and yummy restaurants. We were there for 5 nights and never had to park more than a few blocks away. Would defiantly stay here again!

Our first visit to PR -- attending our son's "destination wedding." Mike and Maria made this a perfect stay. We stayed in the first-floor apartment with other upscale tenants who were quiet. The apartment is on a quiet street yet it’s less than two blocks from the water; and three blocks from restaurants, shops, parks, a grocery store and a pharmacy. The two castles are within an easy walk. The apartment is wonderfully old-world – one entire wall is open to a private courtyard. It’s also in perfect condition – beautiful floors, walls, modern amenities, and a very comfortable place to spend quiet time. When we couldn’t find the password for the wifi / internet, someone helped us immediately. Even the small things are provided – a chest of beach towels and kids toys to make the beach a happy family experience. Other family members rented other apartments within three blocks of us, and ours was the nicest by far. Ours was also the least expensive – a perfect solution. We enjoyed our time in the apartment as much as our time touring. I look forward to going back. Andy Anderson, Washington DC

I stayed at the apartment with my family (husband, two-year-old and three-month-old, and my mother-in-law). When we arrived we could not believe how spacious the apartment was. The space feels more like a house than an apartment. Large, well stocked kitchen is perfect for cooking any kind of a meal, there is a great outdoor courtyard for enjoying your mojitos, and each bedroom offers plenty of space to spread out. The beds are the most comfortable I've slept on in a while. The apartment has all the amenities that make your stay enjoyable, including cable TV (although we didn't watch it as there were too many more fun things to do), wireless internet, washer and drier, plenty of hot water. The check-in procedure is very smooth - we called our contact from the airport and she met us at the apartment to give us the keys. I would highly recommend this place and plan on coming back again.

"Heart of San Juan" I Spent a week in Old San Juan in Michael & Maria's one bedroom apartment in Old San Juan with the wonderfully large terrace. The apartment is situated right in the middle of the old city, just a couple of minutes from great restaurants, good music and friendly people. your literally no more than 5 minutes from everything The patio was my favorite place to have my morning coffee and my evening drinks with friends. The apartment was clean and well decorated with a homey feel, great king size bed with 4 pillows!. The kitchen is fully equipped if you like to make a meal, coffee maker, toasters, the works. Stero with Ipod, wifi and cable, what else do you need. Arched gates lead to the terrace cools the apartment, no need for air conditioners even tho the bedroom has one. For sure I'm coming back.

I was amazed by the location and the place reminded me of my parent house. It has a antique decor and make you feel that you are on vacation in a beautiful Island. I did not want to come back from this place. If you are traveling with family or friend it is an excellent place to stay. You have your own personal kitchen and all the utilities that come with it. Everything is close to the place, they have the Historic Castles not to far from the place, nice restaurants, park and gift shops. I reach i had staid for a week, there are so many stuff to do. In this place you also have your privacy, no one comes to bother you which i like. Definitely you will need a car to explore the other places of Puerto Rico. And don't worry Michael & Maria, i will be back next year that is how much i loved it and Thanks for everything.

This is a wonderful home away from home. It boasts a great location in Old San Juan; it is walking distance to all of the necessary amenities, such as restaurants, bars, clubs, shopping outlets, supermarkets, historical sites and taxi stand. It comfortably sleeps eight, is very clean and very secure. It also has a well appointed kitchen, laundry facilities and use of beach towels for all eight guests. Just be mindful that there is only one indoor bathroom and an outdoor shower, so be prepared to fall in line when getting ready for a big night out on the town. Overall, however, I would gladly come back to Maria and Michael's property the next time that I am in San Juan.

What a beautiful and simply breathtaking experience we had staying at Casa de MariSol in Old San Juan, PR. The apartment is in the heart of the old city, so we were easily able to walk to all the historic sites in the city. The apartment is also conveniently located Calle San Sebastian, very close to some great restaurants and bars. After a night out in the old city it is the perfect place to come home to and enjoy the spacious beautiful apartment. The architecture and design of the place is a landmark in itself! Michael and Maria are the best hosts around, they made the experience of our first time in Puerto Rico unforgettable! We'd recommend Casa de MariSol to anyone who wishes to truly enjoy an authentic, historic, and relaxing time in Puerto Rico!

We arrived late to check into the apartment with our one year old twin girls but Michael and Maria were gracious enough to check us into their apartment even though it was after 9pm! They even went to get us a gallon of milk for our girls and held a parking space for us on the street! Way above and beyond our expectations! Michael and Maria made us feel like we we're staying with some great friends that happen to have a place in Old San Juan. From personal suggestions on dining to tourist stuff, they made our stay memorable. The apartment itself was a perfect fit for our family. The indoor/outdoor patio to main hallway really made you feel like you had arrived in the tropics. And the location was perfect for anything you wanted to do while in San Juan. The kitchen was fully furnished for making meals and cocktails and the washer/dryer in the apartment was exactly what you need on a family trip. No central a/c but lots of fans and open air patio makes it comfortable. We had our older daughter and her friend along as well and they loved the location for night life as well. This was a great way to experience Old San Juan from a beautiful, well maintained apartment on a quiet block in the heart of the city.

Where to begin; the apartment is large, open and stupendous!. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The apartment is decorated with taste, (I like art work). The patio is my best part of this apartment. Large and open with many plants, just a nice place to relax has a drink or have something to eat. The kitchen is fully functional and has all the pots, pans and gadgets you would ever need........We at out mostly as the restaurants were good. The apartment is located in the heart of everything you would need, truly a great place to vacation.

We enjoyed being in the middle of Old San Juan, with the beautiful terrace nearly doubling our space. There were plenty of little cafes nearby to enjoy; a longer walk took us to famous restaurants and night clubs. One favorite sight nearby was the kite flying at the Fort. Our main event was a wedding at Casa Espana, which allowed us a glimpse of the culture, music and nuptial traditions of the Puerto Rican people. Their hospitality is warm and lavish...the dancing divine! We journeyed to El Yunque one day and went snorkeling another. Puerto Rico is delightful, and the apartment on Calle Justo was the perfect place to stay.

I stayed in two different apartments owned by the same people in Old San Juan and loved both places. The furnishings and decor in both were just picturesque (in fact I took quite a few photos IN our apartments as well as the usual touristy stuff!) and it was just very comfortable. And also I was impressed by how clean and well-stocked things were and the handy information to help make your stay easier were really appreciated by us. I was also able to do my work online with no troubles, faster than at home actually. There's so much great food to go out for but I was happy to save a few pennies by being able to cook at home too. People were very friendly and I even got to try cooking some local foods, looking up recipes online for what to do with these different foods in the grocery store, which was fun. And the avocados are HUGE. I was in paradise in more ways than one! (Oh yes and the pina colada con ron!) It was so nice to be just blocks away from the center of the scene with music and fun going on, but being a little ways up from it so it's a little quieter was good too. But that town is a pretty hopping place! We walked everywhere, it's all so close, and i really felt stronger when I left the second time because I walked so much. We could have taken taxis, but it was just nice to get the flavor of the place on foot. And I felt very safe, not once did my radar perk up to trouble. I just realized, I;m wearing the wonderful handmade sandals I bought down on the Princessa from one of the vendors there. Anyway, the 3 bedroom downstairs place is great with the sweet courtyard space and the awning was awesome -- when the sun was shining bright or if it rained, just roll out the awning and life is good! (same upstairs for the 1 bedroom too) We just loved the indoor/outdoor living arrangement in the tropics, it's SO nice! Can't get away with that in Northern New York! Anyway, the smaller place upstairs had a great big old patio deck looking over the street and it was gorgeous. I love the ceiling fans everywhere and they really work so well to keep you cool. And the ocean breezes were so sweet. We just loved it there and these two places were boith really lovely. I'd go back in a heartbeat! BTW, I don't remember the exact date of my arrival, but it's close to what I put here, if you are needing to verify. The first time I was there was over Christmas BTW the second time in March.

We just wanted to share our wonderful experience at this gorgeous apartment in Old San Juan. The location couldn’t be better as it is close to shop and restaurants and steps from the view of the fort and the ocean. The décor was historic and charming, yet renovated for us to feel quite comfortable. Also, the owners have stocked the kitchen very nicely as we like to try making a few of the local specialties on our own! The patio with all the plants allowed us to enjoy the outdoor breezes with privacy. All in all, we felt that we had a really Caribbean experience as opposed to a sterile hotel. Thank you very much.
