Keywords: House
Lake level, newly built, 3000 sq. ft. of serenity next to 300 ft. of privacy, woods and fantastic lake views--two family rooms, each with TV/cable. Four separate bedrooms: #1-queen, #2-queen, #3-two double beds, #4-queen. Wireless Internet access is available.
Perfect for families; crystal clear waters, pristine shale beach and gorgeous stone framed gardens. Beach toys abound including horse shoe set and a tethered raft. Dock and bouys host two full boats.
Full view of sunset in all seasons, but view it in Summer from the dock, the grassy or shale beach areas, the hammock or the upper deck with full surround sound. If YOU are the day's chief, then view that sunset from the Southside stone patio with gas grill all surrounded by gardens and privacy. Our guests fall so in love with the property that they come back year after year. So a gentle caution is that most prime weeks fill up by March.
Even if it poured rain everyday, the cottage is gorgeous enough to enjoy indoors; drinking in the view, a glass of wine and your favorite book. Or take that book to the hammock on your deck and snuggle in before some late evening fishing from the dock.
Lake level ceilings are white-washed pine boards that beautifully reflect the late day sun bouncing off the lake, creating a shimmering dappled movement that will make you smile. Three of the four huge bedrooms have a queen bed and the fourth room has two double beds, great for children or grandchildren.
Dozens of renters have said, "This is exactly what we've been looking for."
Check in time is 3pm; checkout time is 10am. Occasionally we have flexibility on times.

Why the Owner Chose Penn Yan
I chose to buy back on Keuka's east side as a place to return home to. A place to enjoy for all but the few weeks I rent. The cove is perfect for quiet fishing to snorkeling.
Owner's Map of Penn Yan
As one of 10 kids growing up on Keuka Lake all year round, we had a unique perspective and appreciation of all that the creeks, waterfalls, beaches and woods had to offer in the 1950s and 1960s. We felt sorry for people who could only come in the summer. It took nearly 20 years of being away with college, career, kid raising, and career again before I was reminded how important this place in the world is to my place in the world. And now I get to share with you my newer house, built in 2003. The more people who love this place as much as I do, the more it seems to come to life. Sunset watching, early morning dips to wake up, long lazy raft floats with kids--it's all there for the sharing. I've lived in many places on this planet yet always return to the beauty of Keuka; Boston for 6 years, Tucson for 14 years, interrupted by two years in Italy (Rome in 1981 and Balogna in 1988), DC for 9 years, then back to Keuka, where I'm truly at home.

My overall review of this property is good. The location is magnificent and there is plenty of room for 8 adults. The place was clean and well maintained. Pretty landscaping and nicely decorated. Kitchens were great and well stocked. Good parking as well. The lake itself was beautiful. There are a few issues which can be easily addressed and fixed. One of the bedrooms has a sleep number bed which was not very comfortable. The tenants before us had a dog and the two downstairs bedroom comforters smelled like wet dog as did the throw rug. The cinder block stairs leading down to the beach slant down, are uneven and very difficult to navigate, particularly at night. The dock needs to have a few boards replaced but is in overall good shape. The owner stopped by six out of seven days which we thought was too much. The furniture was not all that comfortable. The upstairs couch cushions were pretty saggy. A recliner or some upholstered armchairs would be a welcome addition. If this was a traditional "cottage", these things wouldn't be an issue. For the money we were paying though, they can be fixed and I hope the owner will do so.

We have rented this lakehouse for the past 3 years. The house is perfect for our group-- 6 adults and 4 children. The lake access is great, with cystal-clear shallow waters for kids swimming, yet deep enough for boat docking. There is great privacy. Looking at the house from the lake, there is only 1 close neighbor--to the left and they have always been really quiet or not there at all. Also, the parking availability is great. We easily fit 4 cars and 2 trailors in the dedicated areas. Inside, the house is in great shape and has a great setup for multiple families (its almost like two separate units in one house). The two kitchens is key--kid dinners on lake level, adult dinners on the 2nd level (by the way, the 2nd level dining table in the picture can be expanded to seat many more). Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Bathrooms are clean and in good working order. Overall, great experience, we will continue to rent.

Great Location for a relaxing vacation

The house was as advertised. Clean, Large enough for 8 people (we had 7 in our party, all adults), and with the dual kitchens allowed for people to eat on different schedules or if they had different tastes. There were 2 grills as well, one on each level. Beach access was excellent. Used the provided kayak every day and swam most days. Water temp was near 80 I would guess at the end of July. The lake is very clean with just a little bit of vegetation to deal with on the dock.We caught a few small fish from the dock, perfect for familes with younger children. Used the provided hammock almost every afternoon for a nap. The kitchens were well stocked and we were able to cook all are meals without any issue. The upstairs stove is gas and the cook top worked fine. We did not try to use the gas oven. Used the electric oven downstairs for the few occasions when we needed an oven. The 2 baths were clean and sufficient in size for to accomadate all 7 of us. There is a lot of stairs to navigate between the 2 floors and to get to the beach. Four in our party were over 70 and 2 of them did not make it down to the beach level. The house is stocked with plenty of games and books to entertain. TV's on both levels with cable and DVD players. Great location for a quiet relaxing vacation. There are several things to do nearby in Penn Yan. We visited Seneca Farms ice cream stand and Holly's Red Rooster one night for dinner. The town has all the necessary stores for grocieries, pharmacies, bait shops, movie theatre and even a McDonalds. Sunsets over the lake are spectacular. The only downside I see is the house does not have central air. The upstairs bedrooms had window air conditioners. It did get a little warm in the house during the day, even with the fans to try to exhaust the hot air. We had several days where the temp hit the mid to upper 80's. The down stairs level was a good 10 degrees cooler than the upper level and did nto require any air conditioners for a comfortable day/night.

Carol, the owner met us upon arrival and made us feel very welcome in her home. We spent four nights at this beautiful cottage located right on the lake. Cottage was pet friendly and our german shepard loved it. Perfect for a large family gathering with plenty of room. Private dock was a lovely fishing spot for the kids. Only downside is that it is not completely accessible for those with limited mobility.

we'd probably all give it a 9 out of 10. We almost rented another house on Geneva Lake before someone informing us that this lake had really good wineries. That other house had a hot tub. So I guess we'd bump our stay up to a 10 if it had a hot tub - Your house was right for us, affordable, rent by the night - not full weeks, enough big beds and bathrooms, great view, etc. It's made for up to 4 couples each taking a separate bedroom and nobody getting stuck with a twin or bunk bed. That's a big selling point for us. I don't know if we're coming back next year - there was talk about hitting a different finger lake, and my wife got a little tired of the long drive back to Michigan, but we'd certainly recommend your place. Thanks, Bill
