We spent 11 days in Kauai. Overall, the vacation was wonderful. We have 2 teenagers, 16 and 13. The home size and layout was perfect for us. My husband and I had our own "wing", master bedroom with bathroom, and our children each had their own room and they shared their own bathroom. The home had an open feel, windows faced the fairway with the ocean in the distance. We could see the whales breaching in the distance from the living room. The walk down the fairway was very nice, baby albatross in protected grass areas, to a tee box with great views of Queens Bath in one direction, and the mountains with Hideaway Beach in the other. We travelled around most of the island, and though the north side is slightly cooler, and wetter, it is much more lush and tropical with many waterfalls, beautiful uninhibited beaches all a short walking distance from the road. Though the house is slightly dated, it is very comfortable and you can not go wrong for the cost! We would return again, if the opportunity arises.

This was our first trip to Kauai and it couldn't have been better. The location and views were amazing. Melia Kai was close to everything on the north coast. The house was clean, well maintained, and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Melia Kai to anyone considering a stay on Kauai

We just returned from our Kauai vacation and loved it! Melia Kai was the perfect place to stay for three couples or a small family. You can't beat the price or location. We loved being on the North Shore. We were so close to the best shopping and beaches. The guys really loved being right on the golf course. Our favorite little spot, Queen's Bath, was a 5 minute walk from the house. We can't wait to come back. Thanks again!

We just stayed here September 12-17, 2011 and we both loved it. It was ideal for us to have a place of our own while we were exploring Kauai. Loved being able to walk to Queen's Bath and watch the wonderful sunsets from the patio while eating the creations we made fom all the local food purchased in nearby Hanalei. Everything exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend this rental to couples that enjoy the simple pleasures and families who want to stay in a home that is comfortable, welcoming and close to the beautiful north shore part of Kauai!

Second time staying at Melia Kai. Great location on the North end of the island right on the Makai Golf course. Great evening walks on the golf course with beautiful views of the sunset and Hanalei Bay. Great snorkel/swim Beaches are very close. We particularly like staying here because it feels like a home and NOT a hotel or a condo. It's an older mid century house and has a spacious, relaxed feeling with great light from it's large windows and high ceiling. Also, we like to cook and BBQ instead of going out for every meal and the kitchen is decent and the deck is great with a good Weber BBQ. Our King bed was very comfortable too. Not some old heap that needs to be replaced. I think this is an incredible value and I will recommend it to my friends, family and to you. Enjoy!

This house is in a gorgeous location in Princeville and has a magnificent view of the golf course and the ocean. We found beaches within walking distance and the grocery store is just a five minute drive. The owners are very kind and helpful and the house is clean and roomy. We had a GREAT time and highly recommend it!!

My family stayed at Melia Kai for 2 weeks in December. I was stressed after a long year and really needed the time to unwind and relax with the kids. We LOVED it!! We were just a short walk to Queen's bath, and located within a few minutes from many beautiful beaches. My youngest (9) learned to both snorkel and boogie board on this trip. Absolutely beautiful! We've visited Hawaii on many occasions over the years and this was the most comfortable accommodations we've had yet! There's nothing like being in a home setting. You can stay at a condo and still cook for yourself, but being in a home really makes it special. Gives you the feeling of being home. Like I said...we loved it. Can't wait to make the trip back!!

We have been coming to Hawaii almost every year since 1999. Melia Kai is about the best value in Kauai especially being right on the golf course with a beautiful ocean, mountain and golf course view. A couple minute walk to the 7th hole of the Makai Golf Course will take you to one of the most beautiful par 3's in the world and is a fantastic place to watch the sunset and sunrise from the cliffs. The view is amazing. The house itself was perfect for us. We stayed for almost 3 weeks and our daughter and her family including 3 grandkids (1 a baby), stayed with us for 1 week. We had plenty of room. The owner went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable including going out and buying a new Pack N Play for the baby. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed. The view from the living room and deck were great. We watched the albatross everyday from the house and the whales from the cliff. The only negative I can say about the house is that 2 of the 3 bedrooms are a little on the small size to some. To us it was no inconvience at all and I would recommend this house to anyone from a couple to 6 people. We want to vacation in Hawaii in the next year or two and plan on staying here again.

The north shore is for us the most beautiful part of the island, Princeville is the most beautiful area on the north shore, and the house and its location have to be one of the best in Princeville! There are many places to see and many activities to enjoy , but it was difficult to leave the house each morning because of the incredible mountain and ocean views and unusual and beautiful birds that delighted us just from the windows and decks; all of that kept tugging us and saying, "Stay, stay." The home itself is charming and provides all that is needed and then some for a very comfortable vacation. We most certainly will recommend this property to anyone who plans to visit Kauai.

We rented this property for 10 days during September. There were six adults and this fit us perfectly. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. It is also a short walk to Queens Bath and under a mile to Hidden Beach which had amazing snorkeling. The sunsets from the back deck are such an added bonus of this property and the owner was very easy to deal with. We would absolutely book this property again.

We are long time visitors to Princeville and have rented many different properties. The house is clean, well equiped and comfortable. It is great value with views to the ocean. It could do with some more drapes though! We are already planning our return next year.

The house is located at a very pretty location overlooking the ocean, mountains, and the well-tended golf course. It is within a short walk to Hideaway beach and the Queen's Bath. We walked to the cliff across the golf course to see the sunset. The house is clean and well-maintained and remained cool without any AC. Though a little retro the house may appear we liked the fact it is lovingly cared for. Moreover, what a price for this location! The owner was very accommodating and helpful. We recommend this house to anyone who is interested in a peaceful time on the Kauai's beautiful north shore.

My husband and I spent three wonderful weeks at this island getaway. Fabulous views of the ocean, mountains, and waterfalls. A short walk to the beach, and Queens Bath made our stay that much more enjoyable. The albatross nesting outside the picture window with the cute young fledgling was an unexpected pleasure. We sure miss them! The house was clean, well maintained and perfect for all our needs. This was a very good value for a Hawaiian vacation and I would strongly recommend this property. We plan on going back as soon as possible! Mahalo

Location location location! This house was in a perfect spot for our vacation. The view across the golf course was gorgeous -- a wide open view of the ocean and we could sit on the deck and watch the whales. The short hike down to Queen's Bath was a perfect way to start most of our days. We especially loved watching the Laysan Albatross family currently living in the backyard! We miss little Fuzzy. The house itself had a great layout for our group and was a perfect home base for all of our North Shore adventures and lazy-days on the beach. A really great value for a fabulous location!

Wahine Retreat customer - My time at the Wahine Retreat reminded me to be thankful for my health and to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. It was a very rewarding experience. Learning to surf with Maggie and Keo was so much fun!!! Keo is such a mellow and easy-going surf instructor. He is also very good at teaching beginners. For me, this retreat had all the right combinations...adventure, comfortable accommodations, connecting with nature, relaxing, yoga and lots of laughter. It was an Aloha Adventure I will treasure for a long time. Mahalo

My husband and I took 2 other couples and we could not have had a better vacation. The place is perfect. The location was perfect. We were ready to return right when we got back home and I am sure we will return to the Melia Kai home soon. You just can't beat the location. I mean not a soul on the most beautiful beach within a short walk. The pools and waterfalls of Queen Emmas Bath were unbelievable and again, just a short walk. The view from the house is also incredible, on the golf course looking over the ocean. Seriously, this is the best deal on VRBO! Thank you so much for an amazing vacation!
