My boyfriend and I stayed at this property for a month in April 2012. The property was very affordable, clean and had everything we needed. Mac was great, very informative and kept in touch during our stay. The only complaints I have about the property are that the bed is extremely soft and many nights I was awoken by neighboring babies screaming as the windows (shade style) do not provide a very good sound barrier. The property is very quiet for the most part (quiet time from 9pm-8am), we were just unfortunate to stay there during a parade of young infants. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at this property. The pool is great, laundry service is just a minute away ($1 per cycle). Kalama Terrace is close to beaches and the grocery store. Definitely recommend this property for travellers on a budget!

Mac everything you said is true, Thanks for all small attention,,, I am very happy to have you trusted despite my fear of internet bookings, We come from Montreal and we will return in your condo. Maui is the most beautiful place on earth and Kihei is the best place on the islands, Alex
Owner response:Thank you Alex for taking the time to write a stellar review. This conveys to future guests how we go out of our way to try and make their Maui stay something to remember for the rest of their lives. I know you had doubts about reserving online and I am happy that you trusted enough in me to go forward with the booking. I was confident that once you arrived at our condo, all your worries would disappear and then you could concentrate on having a great stay on Maui. My wife and I and our 2 yr old son just stayed here for 6 nights and had a great time. Everything was in good shape and we had plenty of room for the 3 of us. The full kitchen looked recently updated and we cooked in at least 2 meals every day. Easy walk for us to the small surf spot at the Cove and also to Charley Young Beach. If you are looking to stay in Kihei this is a nice place and great value. Thanks
Owner response:Thank you Ben & Amy for taking the time to write a positive review for our condo. We are happy that it fit your needs, you found it in close proximity to various activities & necessities, and you also enjoyed spending time there when you weren't out and about exploring all Maui has to offer. We hope to accommodate you again if you decide to make another trip to Maui sometime in the future. Mahalo & Aloha! Mac & Maria McClintick

Excellent kitchen and well-stocked cupboard of beach gear, cosy decor and nicely furnished. The owners were extremely helpful in all regards. However, an overly-soft mattress and dark bedroom detracted from the comfort of our stay. The shared pool aside, Kalama Terrace is not that nice, but not sure what more you can expect in this price-range. Location both good and bad: great to be so close to Charley Young beach and on main bus route, but quite far from most things of interest, either north or south. Car indispensable. Overall had a great time, am happy to recommend it.
Owner response:Thankyou for your nice review. We are happy to hear that you had a good time. We brightened the bedroom with a new light fixture and have fixed the bed so that you have the option to take off a foam topper if you prefer it harder. Our unit is in an(apartment)complex that sits one block off the main rd.,so it will not compare to the luxery complexes that can afford prestine landscaping. It is a clean complex that our "one" manager keeps well maintained. The location is absolutly fantastic! It is walking distance to the best beaches, groceries, restaurants, bars and shops of all kinds. You could actually get by without a car,but we've always recommended one if you wanted to get around. Thankyou Mac and Maria McClintick

I must say that off the bat we were happy - everything from documentation, directions, and information both via email and this website was perfect. We found the condo to be clean and comfy for the two of us. Not sure about 4 but if it was two adults and two children would be GREAT. This unit is not near the pool but we appreciated the privacy of our quiet lanai. I found the walking distance to the beach and shops fabulous not too far that you could not carry a few things home but far enough that I felt I could get a decent walk in.
Owner response:Thank you Geraldine for taking the time to write a review for our condo. We love to hear from our guests that they have found our condo to be comfortable and centrally located. We agree with you about it accommodating 2 adults and 2 children comfortably. We specify on our web page "to use your own judgement " when inquiring for more then 2 adults. But we have had 4 adults stay there who were on a tight budget knowing this and said it was great. They said "this way we could afford to come to Maui and be able to spend a little more on site-seeing and activities". That is what we strive to offer. Thank you again Geraldine & Michael for letting us share our "little piece of paradise" with you. Aloha, Mac & Maria McClintick

The unit we rented was exactly as advertised and as shown in the photographs. When we arrived the unit was clean and recently maintained. The on-site staff ensured that our stay was comfortable and trouble free. The unit is pretty much complete with a fully equipped kitchen, towels, sheets etc. It is centrally located to beaches, restaurants and shopping. The property owner was extremely helpful in answering questions and getting us set up with information on the local area and stuff to do etc. For a relaxing, hassle free vacation in Kihei I would strongly recommend this condo.
Owner response:Thank You Raj for the great review. We are so happy when we hear from our guests that our condo fit in nicely with all the wonderful things to see and do on Maui and that it too will become 1 of the many great memories of their dream vacation. We look forward to your return visit in May 2012. Thank you for letting us share our " little piece of paradise " with you and Betty. Mahalo & Aloha, Mac & Maria McClintick

Our expectations were based on an economical place to sleep and eat, and we were generally satisfied. The condo was clean and reasonably equipped. A great stove and microwave, and an above-average refrigerator. Furnishings were pleasant and tasteful. The location was convenient to the Kamaole beaches, and to Foodland and a good Thai restaurant (Maui Thai). Parking was convenient. Snorkeling gear and beach chairs were provided, which saved us some rental costs. Also, the beach towels were great. Laundry facilities were adequate and inexpensive. On the negative side, the A/C was very noisy and not very effective. Thankfully we had relatively cool weather and didn't mind not using it. The bed was extremely soft, and for anyone with back problems, unusable. The bedding was laughably cheap. More bathroom and kitchen towels were needed. We were aware of the unit's street location, but maybe not quite prepared for the amount of noise from the street and surrounding units. With the windows open to catch the breeze, it could get very distracting. However, by the time our 2 weeks were up we were accustomed to the noise and even found it a bit charming. A nice enough place, but A/C and a firm bed needed. Spending a hundred bucks on bedding wouldn't hurt either.
Owner response:Thank you John & Brad for letting us share our "little piece of paradise" with you. Of your negative remarks, we take everything our guests convey to us into consideration and try to improve on them. We will definitely have the A/C unit looked at and either replaced or repaired if necessary. With the flow through breezees that come through our unit and ceiling fans both in the front room and directly over the bed, we never use the A/C unit when we are there so didn't even turn it on the last time we were there in Oct.of this year. While there in Oct., we also bought a brand new Queen bed. The mattress was $1200 alone so I don't think we are going to replace that anytime soon. We are sorry if it didn't fit up to your standards as undoubtedly the "laughably cheap" sheets didn't either. I guess the old cliche that " you can't please everyone " comes into play here. My wife Maria is the one who picked out the mattress and she loves it. AND she has some back problems but says the conformity of the pillow top to her back helps her relax more. I'm sure the sofa bed is a lot stiffer if someone needs a stiff bed. We also buy at least 1 new set of sheets every time we stay at our condo which is close to every 6 months. They are not going to be 1000 thread count silk sheets but they are decent. You specify in your review that you were looking for an economical place to stay and yet it sounds like you were expecting Leather & Lace. Maybe next time it wouldn't hurt you either to spend a hundred bucks more a night to stay in a not so economical place that would fit what you are expecting. We should have known when you inquired about having a certain type of vegetable steamer in our unit that you were going to be somewhat nit picky. Most all our guests that have stayed at our unit have stated that they were pleasantly surprised when arriving and thought it was a lot nicer then expected because of the affordable rates. Some even hinted to us that we should be charging more. Yes, at times there is some road noise. Our lanai faces toward the side street. Our complex is in an area that has other complexes around so you are going to have some road noise. Most of the time the complex is very quiet & peaceful.

This unit was our home for two weeks on our first ever trip to Maui. From the get-go communication with the owner was very clear and efficient. The price seemed exceptionally affordable so we kept our expectations pretty low (we didnt intend on spending too much time inside anyways), but our low expectations couldnt have been farther from the truth. We met people that spent more for one night to stay at a fancy hotel than we did for the entire two weeks. The unit is exactly as described, and after visiting the entire Island we realised that we were in the right place in Kihei, not too touristy, not too "wild and rural". When staying in someone else's home it is sometimes hard to feel cozy among other people's stuff, it took us about 5 minutes to feel at home here, at one end of the spectre it could have been plastered with pictures of children and family pets, or at the other end it could of had a "sanitized" hotel room feel... But it was just in the sweet spot in the middle! This part of town is a few steps from the cove park (beginner surfing) and the charley young beach, and a short drive (within 15 minutes) to MANY other beautiful beaches. The pool is extremely clean and beautiful and the grounds are well-kept. It was very quiet around and we werent bothered by other tenants. The owner provides you with a document of attractions and tips for your stay on Maui.PROS: SUNSET WALKS, Didnt have to bring/buy: towels, cooler, beach chairs... Owner provides all the books necessary to point you in the right direction on Maui (lonely planet etc...) Internet connection, local phone (handy for those order-in nights), breakfast & coffee on the Lanai, outdoor BBQ, Sansei sushi close by serves up some of the best sushi I've had, and so much more...CONS: Lack of a guestbook to thank the owners and describe our adventures to other visitorsAll in all we enjoyed our stay so much that when we spent time away from the unit we kepts saying jokingly "Life is good on walaka street" (hence the title of this review) partly because we are kinda stupid and one sentence always sticks with us on each and every one of our travels, but mostly because we found that we lucked out in terms of price, location, amenities, comfort, and much more...Thank you so much to the owners, we will definately see you again in the future (or our friends and families!)UNRELATED TIP: To all you surfers out there: DO NOT try and drive down to "Jaws" (Pea'hi) in a Ford Focus
Owner response:Thank you David and Valeska for the great review. We are currently on Maui and staying at our condo. We are updating with some new furniture, new curtains and some other added touches to make it even more "homey" and tropical so if we or our guests decide to stay in for the day or night, we still have the feel of the island around us. New pictures will be upcoming when we depart this beautiful island paradise on 10/20/11. It has been a great stay and to get this kind of review made us feel that much better and motivates us to keep improving our vacation home for us and our guests to have great memories that will last a lifetime. Mahalo & Aloha To you David & Valeska and to all of our other great guests we have had the opportunity to share our " little piece of paradise " with. Mac & Maria McClintick

I had the fortunate opportunity to have located this condo, centrally located in Kihei, on VRBO. Not only was the owner Mac very responsive to me throughout my booking propcess but also in information provided. The price was awesome also ! I was a solo traveler from San Diego and stayed from 9/8 through 9/15/11. The location is great, just 2 blocks off of South Kihei Road and thus 2 blocks from the beach. One can walk to downtown Kihei, the cove ( swim, rent stand-up paddle baords, surf, boogie board, out-rigger paddle etc. ), the beaches and even Starbucks and the cental Park in minutes. The condo itself was very clean, nicely decorated, free WiFi, comfortable bed and sheets, A/C, flat screen TV, nice furishings, upgraded applicances, patio. There was not one item that I found myself in need of. The parking space is conveniently located near the sidewalk. The Unit is located on the first floor ( total of 3 floors I recall .. ) which was extremely convenient for access. Very nice neighbors and very, very quiet both outside and inside of the unit. All in all, it was perfect. I look forward to staying there again in the future !!!
Owner response:Thank you Dean for the great review. This kind of response is what we strive for to hear from our guests. We make 2 trips a year to Maui not only to enjoy the island but also to keep updating and improving our condo so all of our guests enjoy it as much as we do. This response tells us that we are in fact making it better and it makes all of our efforts worth while. Thanks again Dean and we look forward to your next visit to Maui and at our condo.

Stayed here for a week in early June, and really enjoyed this cozy little condo. Pro: - Very clean, tidy - Totally dig the novels and guide books left behind by other tenants - has all the amenities you'd need for a comfy short-term stay in Maui; Towels, boogie boards, coolers, dishes/cookware, even spices! Just bring your suitcase and buy some soap, shampoo and sunscreen at Walmart on your way from airport to the condo. - Complex has 1 parking spot, also nice electric grill, and pretty clean pool. The condo has a full size stove so you can cook every night if you want to - Has a little lanai in the back so you can dine indoors or outdoors - Mac and Maria (owners) were friendly, easy to deal with. My 1st renting a condo directly from owners, and I was 100% satisfied. - Super convenient. Can walk to a great beach (just down the block), Foodland supermarket (5-10 min), restaurants/cafes, shops to get souvenirs. Kihei is a pretty lively strip, with lots of vacation rentals and tourists. Also Kihei is pretty central to all the highways, so you can take a short drive to all the cool Maui spots - Lahaina, Wailea, Road to Hana, Upcountry, etc. Cons (note that many of these are beyond the control of the owners. I think they did a fantastic job making this place homey and comfy): - A bit noisy. The complex is located a block from the major road (S Kihei Rd), but it's so quiet in Maui that you can hear everything, esp at night. Things also start early in Hawaii so at 6 am, you hear trucks, motorcycles, cars, etc, so it was hard to sleep in. Because the condo is on ground fl, you can hear some foot traffic and doors slamming. Most neighbors were friendly and considerate, but don't expect this place to be completely absent of noise. - Kihei is kind of campy and touristy. My bf and I were looking for a more "local/Hawaiian" feel, and this town is just not it. Tons of tourists and Mainlanders on vacation. But I guess if we stayed in Hana, we wouldn't be this close to a huge super market. Thank goodness that Maui is small enough so we took plenty of day trips to find good local spots. - This place is perfect for a single person or a couple. You really can't fit more in here, unless it's a small baby/child with own crib. The bed was really comfy, but it's only a full size :( I wish it was a queen bed! Overall, I'd recommend this place for its value, cleanliness, and convenience to the beach and other regions of Maui
Owner response:1st off, thank you Graciete for the kind review. We strive to make our guests feel as comfortable as possible. The guide books and novels are left by us. We just ask our guests if they haven't finished a novel and want to take it with them that is fine. Just replace it with 1 you may have brought. Concerning the cons. Our website addresses the fact that this is a condominium. There is going to be other people and there is going to some noise to an extent. We have also informed our guest through our information pages that for the best beach time, snorkel time, and any boating activities, get out early! If you go in the afternoon, the trade winds normally kick up and it is time to leave the beach activities and find something else to do. So yes, there is a lot of activity early. Do you really want to sleep away your stay in paradise? Our condo IS on the bottom floor. We had another condo in another complex that was on the 4th floor. Even with an elevator, do you realize how may trips up and down the elevator to take a weeks ( or 2 weeks or a month ) worth of groceries, water, sodas, wine etc. etc. takes? Not fun! We LOVE the ground floor condo with our car less then 50 feet away from the front door. Yes, a little noise, but it's a condo! Most guests are out at night partying anyway. I know we are. Kihei has definitely gotten more crowded with mainlanders. But hey, meeting someone from Calif., Oregon, New York, etc. I think is kind of cool. Just like Mexico, if you want the culture and locals, you can go upcountry and be there in half an hour. Most guests drive up there but don't really mingle with the locals. As far as our condo and only 2 people, we do advertise that we recommend only 2 adults but......our condo is set up for 4 people and I don't know if Graciete realized but there is a full sized sofa bed in the front room. We have had numerous couples with 2 chidren ranging from toddlers to teens. We have also had 2 couples a few times stay there ( which we do not recommend ) to be able to afford the trip of a lifetime and told us they had a great stay and loved our condo. That being said, its all about enjoying yourself and having a vacation on paradise. I think our condo serves that purpose. The location is great. The weather is great. The people are great. What else would you want?? Aloha from Mac & Maria and I hope when you are looking for a place to stay you will consider our " little piece of paradise ". I don't think you will be disappointed.

I had the pleasure of staying in this clean, very comfortable condo for 7 nights in October. It has everything in it, just about anything you would want or need in a Maui vacation condo. Two TVs, a very comfortable bed, nice size bath room, not much lacking in this unit. OK, maybe no view of the ocean, but for the rate, what does that really matter? Unlike the review posted right before mine, I found it quiet, relaxing, and the parking slot for the vehicle that is needed on Maui, is just steps from the front door. The street is blocked by a full size green hedge from the condo and the lanai. My idea of "roughing it" is a Super 8. They cost much more than this unit, and they don't have a view of the ocean either, no kitchen, no 2 TVs. I've stayed in both of this owner's condos, both are better than advertised. Much better. Noise can be a problem when you visit Maui. Not just at KT, but everywhere. But for my stay, even with the upgrade going on next door, this unit and the grounds was quiet when you wanted it to be. You will not find a nicer unit for the price.
Owner response:Hi Ross, Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments about your stay at our condo at Kalama Terrace. It is refreshing to get a positive review after all the time and work we put into our condo to make it as comfortable and user friendly as possible for not only our guests but also for us when we stay there a couple of times a year. We strive to make our guests vacation on Maui an affordable and memorable vacation that they will remember for many years to come and also give them an incentive to visit the islands again & again. We have had many returning guests as you ( your 1st time at this condo ) and comments like these make all the time and effort worth while. Thank You and we look forward to your return visit in Jan. 2011

For the price it was great, but not the deal we though. Though we paid more than the $59 they are asking now. It was clean and had a ton of extras, but people did not honer the quiet time and dogs were being walked outside our room at 6 am. A few other problems, but we told the owner and he said he would fix them so I don't want that to be a reason not to stay there. Good location, but only if you have a car! Would stay there in a minute for the $59, but may think twice for the price we paid. Have fun!
Owner response:These guests wanted a motel 6 rate from the first response I received from Them. They were willing to pay airfare from California to Maui but want a fully contained condo to stay in for 7/nts. for the price of a bed and tv in a motel room. I supplied them with all contact names & numbers they needed including the onsight manager incase of any problems with noise etc. Any of my guests that ask about transportation I always advise them to get a rental car. We have a reserved parking space for our condo at no added cost. To be able to see and enjoy all of Maui, you need a car. Our condo is centrally located in the Town of Kihei so if you decide not to get a rental car, or just don't feel like driving, we are 2 blocks from a great beach, 4 blocks from a grocery store, restaurants, souvenir shops, surfing & lessons and many other activities that are with-in a short walk. This is the 1st negative review we have received in 2 years on this condo. I have come to the conclussion that if these people were to stay at a 5 star hotel and the room was comped to them, they would still find something to complain about. We have repeat guests coming back because they love the location and all the amenities we have provided in our condo. Granted, our place is not a 5 star resort condo but we are not charging $300/nt. ( or more! ) to stay there. For some, this is a vacation of a lifetime and we like to think that we helped make it not only affordable but also a vacation for them to remember forever. Aloha, Mac & Maria

This condo is exactly as pictured. It was the perfect fit for my boyfriend, son, and I to stay for 7 days. The owners kept in contact through out planning and were very quick to respond to my questions. I rate this an A+++ and hope to return someday. The pool is more amazing than the picture shows. Awesome tiled bottom with two turtles. The location was central to everything we needed in town, a park with play structure, and great beaches. My suggestions are Kimos in Lahina for dinner (Make reservations), the Royal Lahina Luau (arrive for check in really early for best seat), Trilogy for snorkel cruise, and UFO for parasailing. Alexander's had excellent Mahi Mahi fish tacos.

My husband, Jim, and I had the pleasure of staying in Kalama Terrace, p102 for the month of January. It was close to all shopping and dining. We walked almost everywhere. Even to the movies just a half a block past the local grocery store. We enjoyed dining at many of the local eateries. Kihei Cafe was the very best breakfast and great for people watching. Moose's and Freds were exceptional food and fun. The beaches were great and I can't believe how warm the water was. I took my binoculars and saw many whales and turtles right from the beach. We took a whale watching excursion and saw them up close, also many dolphins. An unforgetable experience. The best show on the Island was "Warren and Annebelle." You just HAVE to go see it. Also I would recommend Ulalani. I hope you all have the great experience we did. Jan
