Perfect Christmas Getaway

We just spent a wonderful 5 days at this property. It is well represented in the pictures, but they do not do it justice. It is beautiful and well maintained. Everything felt new and was in excellent shape. It was immaculate and clean - did not feel like a rental at all. The kitchen is well appointed, with high quality dishes and equipment. It truly has everything you need from pans to utensils that you only need to bring the food and seasonings, I have never rented a house with as nicely stocked kitchen. There are a ton of movies and books, too. The view is second to none and it is very private. We have nothing negative to report - it exceeded our expectations (and we are very difficult to please!).

You have an awesome place here! The place actually looked like what was on the websites!! We could all have our own rooms and bathrooms. Kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed having meals as a family and then relaxing playing pool, cards and sitting on the deck enjoying the beautiful view... Can't be beat!! Thank you for sharing your home..it was wonderful!

We really enjoyed our stay here and love how you have decorated your home. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie area upstairs as well as shooting pool downstairs. This home lacks for nothing except a pizza pan and cutter and we loved cooking in the well outfitted kitchen. We thank you for sharing your mountain retreat with us and we look forward to coming back. I can’t think of a better way to spend a vacation.

Our second stay here at Brown Bear Lodge. Love how the downstairs has been transformed! As always, loved all the amenities- esp. the media room for movies, hot tub for soaking, and the well appointed kitchen for cooking scrumptious fare. Looking forward to next year already.

Just wanted to say we had a wonderful time here in the mountains. The cabin was breathtaking. I dont think I will ever experience this kind of landscape again, it was beyond words. My parents from Scotland came last year with friends and told me it was beautiful but you cant quite understand it until you have seen it with your own eyes. Thank you!

Immediately upon arrival I knew my sons persistance in choosing this cabin had apid off. So hats off to Matthew at age 14, for having a good eye for top notch quality. Definately the finest of everything. Enjoyed the stars at night and the birds in the morning were so relaxing. I feel especially blessed to have the opportunity to raft, swim, hike, waterfall hunt, shop, eat, mine for gems.....to enjoy life a little. Thank you for sharing your home with us, see you again soon! Max & family

We had so much fun staying at this beautiful cabin high up on the mountain. We drove in through the National Park with 36 degree temps and left on Friday in the low 80's. The kids loved hiking, camp fires, smores, popcorn and the hot tub. We loved having a stress-free family getaway with all the comforts of home. The stars at night were amazing to see from the hot tub. We made so many memories that the kids will have forever!

Could it possibly be as good as the web photos? Yes, and nothing prepared us for the view (gasp)! and the house! Wow, we loved it! We've taken our family to Yellowstone/Tetons and Grand Canyon/Bryce/Zion and stayed in lovely historic lodges--but truly-- Brown Bear is in a category all its own! A busy week for us Max Patch & Cataloochee on our way in. Deep Creek tubing, Clingmans Dome and Andrews Bald Hike, Kilmer forest (Biggest trees in the east, last of the old growth) Cherohala Skyway and of course Rafting w/ NOC. And each day we would return and say we didn't see anything prettier than Brown Bear! Thank you for sharing! Off to the waterfalls near Franklin Highlands! Best Wishes

What a beautiful cabin - one of the nicest we've stayed in! We hiked the Waterrock Knob trail (twice), traveled the Road to Nowhere, rented a boat for the day on Fontana Lake, went tubing at Deep Creek - highly recommended- spent a day in Waynesville and spent lots of time exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway stops. We enjoyed our evenings in the hot tub making smores and soaking in your beautiful sunsets - what a view! The squirrels are very busy in the woods and there were some wild turkeys on your driveway, Thank you for sharing this little slice of God's country with us!

We've been staying in the area for a short vacation for the last 3 years and this was by far the most amazing view!. We always look for mountain-top views and you did not let us down! We went horseback riding and kayaking on the lake this trip and loved them both...very peaceful. Thank you for a wonderful "home away from home". We will recommend it to others as well as be back ourselves.

From the moment we pulled up to the front door to see the glorious late afternoon view, we knew our stay at the Brown Bear Lodge was going to be fantastic. Witnessing the magic of the Smokies in the mornings as the suns ascent in the sky pulled the blanket of clouds back to reveal an awe-inspiring view, began each day of our stay. The evenings brought exquisite sunsets of pink, purple and red. For a mother and daughter escaping for some rest and relaxation, we couldn't have ask for a more perfect setting than your beautiful home in the mountains. This may have been our first visit to BBL but not our last! P.S. Loved the road to the cabin! It added to the sense of adventure and seclusion from the outside world.

Took the kids on and adventurous hike to the top of the mountain, etc, etc.... We are blessed to have had the opportunity to stay here at the Brown Bear Lodge.
