Location: Kensington & Chelsea, London, England, Europe
Accommodations: Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-5)
Keywords: Flat
We live in Florida, this is our London home. We visit it for about 8 weeks per year. We have come to know this area very well and truly enjoy its many attractions as well as the excellent access to the West End and the major tourist sites.
The flat is bright, cheerful, and spacious. All rooms have large windows. The kitchen and the two bedrooms have a Western exposure. The living room, bathroom and toilet have an Eastern exposure. The large master bedroom has a very comfortable USA king-size bed and ample wardrobe and drawer space. The second bedroom has two large single beds and ample wardrobe space.
The living room has a sofa (which can be made into a double bed) as well as a TV (with SKY TV), radio, CD/tape player, and a DVD player. Free broadband internet connection (wireless or cable) is available. A printer may be connected to your laptop. International phone calls are free to landlines in many (36) countries. The kitchen is large enough that four people can eat around the table and not impede someone preparing food. It is fully-equipped to service six people.
The flat is located on the second floor (third floor by USA definition) of a picturesque Mansion block built in 1896. It does not have a lift. Access to the stair well to the flat is by a key or by remotely unlocking the door after verifying the caller’s identity via TV cameras. The mansion block is located at the end of a cul-de-sac and road noise is almost non-existent.
West Kensington Underground station is a seven minute walk from the building. It is on the District line and is three stops from the Knightsbridge shopping district and seven stops from Westminster Abbey/Houses of Parliament.
A five minute walk to Hammersmith High Street will give you access to multiple bus routes taking you up Kensington High Street, through Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner into the West End of London.
There are nearly a dozen restaurants and half a dozen "take outs" that can be reached in under ten minutes. The large, superb Tesco Supermarket is a ten minute walk. There are green-grocers and smaller supermarket shops on the way to the Underground station, which are closer to the flat. There is a dry cleaner, video rental store, liquor store, news-agent, and 3 eating places all within five minutes of the flat.
There is a large multi-screen cinema at the bottom of Kensington High Street - a 12-15 minute walk. For tennis fans, the Queen’s Club tennis facility is a 15 minute walk and Earl’s Court Underground station (a 12 minute walk) offers a direct (six stops) connection to Wimbledon. The flat is less than a 10 minute walk to the Olympia and Earl's Court exhibition halls. Holland Park - peaceful and relaxing - is a 15 minute walk.
If our flat is of interest, please check our calendar for availability. If the first or last day of your visit period is unavailable, we have an arrangement with a local hotel to accommodate you for this night, possibly at no additional cost.

New Years in London

My husband and I , and our 2 children (19 and 22) stayed here for 8 nights over New Years 2012. It was a perfect location, clean, well maintained and spacious enough for 4 adults. Sainsbury's around the corner for great selection of fresh food and wines. The library of travel guides for London and Britain was an added bonus. I highly recommend, and would return again. Just returned from a six night stay beginning of January. As mentioned David made everything personable, informative and reliable! 5 stars for; Ease of payment, Accessibility to keys at anytime for check -in ( no trying to call to have someone meet you) Very clean, feel of spaciousness, lovely kitchen and plenty of hot water for nice showers on cold days closeness to tube (we never wished we were anywhere else) and groceries (Sainsbury grocery is open until 11pm) We took the tube from Heathrow going and coming with no problems. We would definitely rent again! 100% better choice over a cramped, damp, overpriced hotel in London

My husband and I stayed here for a week in mid October. I agree with all the reviews, it was exactly as described and I would certainly stay here again. There was a ton of information and instructions in the flat itself, along with the info emailed by the owner. I would say that if you need just basic food, as we did, just for breakfast, there is a Sainsbury Local across from Barclay's Bank, on the way to the flat....much closer than Tesco, Also, we had 4 pieces of luggage as we were going to continue travelling for another 3 weeks, and would recommend taking a cab from Heathrow, because one of the tube stations didn't have an elevator (a lot of steps), but it is definitely an easy ride on the tube. I would definitely recommend this flat.

Everything the other reviewers said was true, except that the pictures do not convey how large the flat is! It is spacious and entirely comfortable. The area is non-touristy but with plenty of grocery stores (both small and major) within easy walking distance, and the entire city is easily accessed by the West Kensington tube station and a nearby bus stop. David is not only helpful but a treasure to work with. He could not have been more helpful, even researching different ways of getting to and from Paris for us, including intra-European airlines. There is no doubt at all that we would stay here again. Highly recommended - thank you David!

Family of 4 stayed here for 5 nights in May 11. Owner extremely helpful with everything and the process of booking, payment and deposit return could not have been easier. Getting to the apartment from Heathrow and finding it was no problem. The apartment is a good size and has all that you need in it. Transport to all the tourist spots is simple as a tube station is within walking distance. We will definitely be back as it was much better than staying in a hotel room. We really felt like it was home away from home and wished it was.

We stayed at the flat for a week in early May and found it perfect as a base for day trips. It is close to public transportation (get an Oyster card), a good grocery store and little markets for the extras we needed. David was very helpful in guiding us through the pre-visit months with our many questions and queries about London and patiently gave us good advice. The flat is clean, bright and the kitchen is very functional. We were especially grateful for the washer and dryer each evening. You needn't bring much. Pack lightly. Again, David, our thanks for sharing your flat and making our stay very pleasant..

We rented the flat for a week in September of 2009 to attend London Open House. It was exactly what we wanted for our trip to London. Furthermore, the owner was fantastic to work with and very helpful. Here are the bullet points: Location - Ideal for our sightseeing week in London. The tube/trains are in EASY walking distance. The Tesco grocery nearby lacked nothing in terms of day-to-day shopping needs. Even though it is a convenient location, the neighborhood is quiet and we felt absolutely safe walking home at night. Photos - In the Google Streetview world, the exteriors are easily cross-checked. I'd virtually walked the entire route from the tube station to the flat before I'd left my home. The interior shots were fine too. Condition - The flat and the building are in very good shape. The couch in the sitting room could use a refresh but that is a minor nit. The kitchen is well-equipped for our cooking (cheaper/easier to cook a nice breakfast than going to a restaurant) needs. The washing machine and dryer enabled us to travel with only carry-ons making life so much easier. Owner - As mentioned, he pre-screened us and had a very helpful pre-trip FAQ as well as a FAQ in the flat itself. Payment mechanisms were easy and the security deposit was returned promptly. Comfort - Having a king-sized bed in Europe is a nice treat. Both bedrooms are good-sized. The sitting room was comfortable. The bath has a full tub and a shower with plenty of hot water. I will note, there are stairs and I felt the last flight when we were coming "home" at the end of a long day of sightseeing. Highly recommended! Random Stuff - Pack right/pack light. With this flat you'll have a washer and dryer. You don't need to schlep a bunch of stuff you'll only use once. Throw a load in at the end of the day and it's done by breakfast. Also, the flat is very close to the tube station (West Kensington is closest but others aren't far either). Get a Travelcard (or Oyster) and use it. Sites - I mean, really, it's London! What more is there to say? (Except DO go to the Tate Modern.)

Our family of 4 stayed here January 2009 and January 2008. We loved the non-touristy feel of the flat and neighborhood. It is plenty big with lots of room for luggage, purchases and just to get away from each other! Mr Plummer is wonderful to work with and gives very clear instructions of the flat and surrounding area. Our family would definitely recommend this flat and hope to stay again some day!
