Ancient Abbey in a lush Umbria upland
The Agriturismo “Conti Faina” is an ancient (11th century) Benedictine Abbey with walls in white stone. It has been totally renovated by the owners, Count Sebastiano and Count Alessandro Faina. The Abbey has been in the Faina family since 1884. The ancient and charming interiors and exteriors are original. In the middle of the Abbey is a little chapel which is still used today for weddings, baptisms and other religious functions.
Hidden away, in a corner of Umbria “the green heart of Italy”, is a beautifully and lovingly restored monastery. The original terra-cotta floors, hand-painted tiles, the period furnishings and the spectacular views are just a few of the reasons you will want to spend your Italian vacation at Agriturismo Conti Faina.
While totally excluded, the Abbey is just a few minutes drive to Fratta Todina or the larger Marsciano, where grocery stores, banks, shops and typical Umbrian restaurants abound. Even better, it’s an easy drive to all the places you want to explore in Umbria: Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi, Spello, Montefalco, Bevagna, Spoleto, Narni, Orvieto, Todi, Deruta, and Lake Trasimeno along with tiny villages and interesting places off the beaten track. Also, this is an ideal base from which you can visit Cortona, Siena, Florence or Rome. These cities can easily be reached in no more than two hours by car or train.
The Agriturismo “Conti Faina” is part of a large working farm situated in the hills that dominate the Middle Tiber Valley, in the Todi area of Umbria. The farm has an area of 420 hectares out of which 25 hectares are vineyards and 40 hectares are olive trees. The production of olive oil is equivalent to 285.000 bottles of “olio extravergine di oliva” (extra virgin olive oil) marketed in Italy and abroad with the brand name of “Rocchio Alto”. Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Nero are the different qualities of wines successfully produced by the farm. Both the olive oil and wine are sold on the premises.
The Abbey is made up of private apartments perfectly suited for large families, groups of friends or tour groups. Or, if you are a small party (2, 4, 6) your privacy is ensured with the individual apartments. For either small or large groups the Agriturismo Conti Faina offers luxury, comfort, privacy and togetherness at your discretion. Your Italian vacation will be a time of delight and discovery.
The Abbey can accommodate up to 18 guests in 4 individual luxurious apartments fully furnished and equipped as follows:

- Apartment Count Carlo Faina : 6 Persons; 2 double bedroom; 1 twin bedroom; 2 bathrooms; 1 living room ; kitchen and dining room
- Apartment Count Zeffirino Faina : 4 Persons; 1 double bedroom; 1 twin bedroom; 1 bathrooms; 1 living room with fireplace ; kitchen and dining room
- Apartment Countesses Miryam & Angelica : 4 Persons; 2 double bedroom; 2 bathrooms plus 1 half-bathroom; 1 living room ; kitchen and dining room
Each apartment has a private terrace and a veranda where guests are immersed in the silent and peaceful nature of the countryside. The spectacular views create an invitation to relax in the “green heart of Italy”.
The private pool, 6 by 12 meters, is located at side of the Abbey. Olive trees and a spacious green lawn welcome you to the pool area. The invitation to sunbath, read, swim or sip a glass of wine is made easy as the area is furnished with deckchairs; umbrellas and a shower.
When renting the Apartments, any single group of guests exceeding 6 Persons has the flexibility to cook and have breakfast as well as other meals together in the complex featuring Apartments Miryam & Angelica or separately in their own Apartment. Groups exceeding 6 Persons will be granted to utilize the Apartments Miryam & Angelica based on arrangements made at the time of booking.
The Miryam & Angelica apartments have a spacious community area easily accommodating 18 guests. The living area features sofas, satellite TV, DVD player and fireplace. The windows surrounding this area are large allowing for pleasing views and the golden light of Umbria filters in creating the perfect ambiance for your vacation. The dining area seats 18 comfortably and there is a large and well organized fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare your meals.
The Agriturismo, upon request, can offer half or full board accommodation. There is a small restaurant facility on the premises. Upon advance request you can be treated to a scrumptious meal of typical Umbrian dishes featuring the olive oil and wines produced on the farm.
The 4 Apartments of the Agriturismo “Conti Faina” are rented on a weekly basis, from Saturday to Saturday.
