Accommodations:  House, 5 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths (Sleeps 10-12)

2-MINUTE DRIVE TO OKEMO MOUNTAIN (OR FREE SHUTTLE AT CORNER OF DEPOT AND PLEASANT STREET).
30-MINUTE DRIVE TO KILLINGTON, STRATTON, BROMLEY. 60-MINUTE DRIVE TO MOUNT SNOW.

Completely renovated in 2005, this is not your usual "rental house" - no mildewy old couches or Corelle dishes here! Instead, we offer a custom kitchen with Travertine countertops and Rutt cabinets, genuine wide-plank wood floors, a butler's pantry / laundry room, French doors, and comfortable furniture.

Very tastefully decorated, this is a welcoming home that will envelop you in peaceful relaxation from the moment you walk in. Whether you prefer to dine out (we're one block from Main Street restaurants and shops) or entertain, this house will accommodate your wishes.

Three brand-new bathrooms (2 with tubs, 1 with large neo-angle shower stall.) Our custom ski room is a dream: a place for everything, from wet boots and gloves (pop them onto our electric dryers, and they'll be warm and dry for tomorrow), to cubbies for the small stuff, and standing racks with drip trays for skis and snowboards, it's a marvel of organization - and a great way to keep the wet jackets out of the playroom, too!

Because the living room is designated a "no television zone," the kids can play Nintendo 64 or watch movies on the large TV in the family room while the adults enjoy a glass of wine and quiet conversation (or the latest bestseller) in the company of the warming gas fireplace (activated by a thermostat, no mess no fuss).

Did I mention the "bonus room"? The heated, carpeted third-floor loft has a double-bed mattress and box spring (no frame), a round window from which you can see the Mountain while lying in bed, and a COMPLETE SLOT CAR TRACK SET UP! More games, too. It's a great hideout for the kids.

Everyone who comes into our home marvels at its warm, welcoming atmosphere. We bet you will, too.

There are so many fun activities available in the Ludlow area: free sledding at the nearby recreation hill, and the Jackson Gore (Okemo) Base Area offers snow-tubing, ice skating, racquetball, heated outdoor/indoor pool and hot tub, exercise room, etc. (nominal fee). The Okemo ski school provides a wonderful caring atmosphere for the little ones and excellent instruction opportunities for the youngsters who are ready to learn to ski and board. Most of the area restaurants are child-friendly, also.

The Spa at The Castle Resort is not to be missed: it's a licensed Aveda facility (you love the products, you'll adore their aestheticians), and spa services entitle you to spend the day enjoying their heated outdoor pool and exercise rooms as well. Perfect for when your tired body shouts out "No, not another powder day! I need a massage!!"

Gorgeous Okemo Ski Home, 1 Block to Main St, Hot Tub, Shuttle

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Ludlow

My husband started skiing at Okemo in his early teen years, and switched exclusively to snowboarding several years ago. And me? I enjoy skiing, but not as much as I enjoy curling up with a good book while a Sunday snowstorm rages outside and I debate whether we really "must" go home for work/school the next day . . .

Owner's Map of Ludlow

We are a family of four from eastern Long Island, and our sons each started skiing at age 3. Our eldest is now beginning his second year at Saint Michael's College in Vermont; last year he managed to squeeze in 52 days of snowboarding (while maintaining his Dean's List status, how could we complain?!), while our youngest at age 16 became an Okemo Snowboard Instructor.

    • We stayed here last year for Presidents week. We had two families of four. What a wonderfull time. The house is beautifully decorated and very spacious. We could have had a third family with no problem. Minutes from Okemo mountain via trolley or car. Our favorite nightly ritual was the hot tub after all day skiing. What a great place!
