Escape to your own romantic cottage on the shore. Located on an historic property with nearly five waterfront acres, the Gardener's Cottage is one of three nestled in its own private garden sheltered under giant fir and cedar trees.
The cottage preserves all the rustic charm of the original, old structure while providing the indulgent luxuries you're looking for in a romantic hideaway.
We've filled the cottage with wonderfully comfortable furnishings and antiques, and appointed the large, rustic bath and dressing room with every convenience. The oversized two-person shower is open under the vaulted ceiling. A large clerestory window lets in the morning sun.
Sink into the lavishly fitted king Eurodown bed or curl up on the sofa with a good book. Listen to your favorite CD or watch a movie on the DVD player or satellite 32" LCD HDTV. WiFi is provided in your cottage. Enjoy the comfort of a crackling fire in the wood burning Rumford fireplace.
Firewood is replenished daily as are other supplies. Trash is removed daily. For stays of five days or longer, we change your bed and towels after three days. Full housekeeping service is available for an additional charge.
The kitchen is within easy reach, where you'll find a Thermador cooktop, oven, microwave, undercounter U-Line refrigerator, coffeemaker, cookware, tableware and linens. Cleanup is easy with a garbage disposal and dishwasher.
Of course, a cottage should have a porch and so this one does. Sit and look out at the cove through your private native garden while gulls and giant blue heron fish for their dinner. Seals and otters and an array of migratory birds visit the cove. Canada geese are resident. Deer visit nightly.
Nothing tastes better than a meal cooked outdoors. Use the large fire pit/barbecue off the porch to grill a wild salmon from the organic market and freshly harvested vegetables you can pick from our kitchen garden. Firewood and charcoal are provided daily.
Slip into your private hot tub, serviced daily, and enjoy the activities on the water. Imagine watching the sunset reflections or the quiet of a moonlit night.
Beyond your own private native garden, you'll find much to enjoy. Several acres of gardens and woodland and over 500 feet of private clam shell beach can be explored. Originally homesteaded in 1857, much of the early plantings are still here to enjoy. Old lilacs, roses, glorious wisteria, apple and Horse Chestnut trees, the weeping willow by the old pond mix with newer gardens, creating private oases or an expanse of lawn leading to the water's edge.
Our kitchen garden is here for you. Totally organic, it offers a surprising selection of heirloom and familiar vegetables and fruit for your culinary pleasure. In addition, in season you can pick wild blackberries, apples, pears and plumes, or harvest oysters and clams from our private beach.
Whale watching and kayaking tours, sailing charters, rental boats and bicycles, even a bird sanctuary are located within walking distance of the Cottage as is a restaurant, convenience market and snack bar.
Eating on Orcas Island is a special treat. Known as the Little Green Island by Foodies (Slow Food Advocates), it offers selections from local specialty growers and farmers. Many island restaurants offer locally grown fare. Sample Coffelt lamb or Judd Cove oysters, shrimp and crab harvested in season, a wild blackberry tart.....
Farther afield explore the pristine forests of Moran State Park with its many hiking and biking trails as well as Mount Constitution, which offers what many consider the most magnificent water views in North America. Hike the beautiful 1500 acre Turtleback Mountain Preserve located two miles from the cottage with its grasslands, wildflowers and magnificent Garry Oaks. The views are incredible. The villages on Orcas and the many artists' studios and galleries offer great opportunities for exploration as well.
Don't forget that one of the best things you can do is absolutely nothing! After a day of activities, treat those sore muscles to a massage in the privacy of your cottage. Private yoga instruction can be arranged too. Or just sit back and enjoy the views.

Thanks again for a wonderful visit . . . you may remember my partner and I stayed in your Gardener's Cottage earlier this month. It was a highlight on our trip! I am writing to find out if you would be willing to share any information you might have about the bed in the Gardener's Cottage. It was absolutely the most comfortable bed I have slept in in years!

My wife and I wanted to express our thanks for letting us use your Gardener's cottage. The cottage was beautifully decorated, and wonderfully finished inside, as well as being equipped with just about anything one could want. The grounds around the estate are quite beautiful! We greatly enjoyed our stay and only regret we hadn't made reservations for a longer period of time. We will be back. Received by e-mail 4/29/11
