My extended family (4 adults, 2 children, 2 dogs) just spent a long Thanksgiving weekend at the cabin. It was terrific! I am the pickiest person I know about cleanliness, and this cabin was close to immaculate. I really appreciate the time and effort spent on cleaning - I felt so comfortable and at home using everything because it appeared to have been cleaned really well. Next, there were so many extras that just made the stay a pleasure: bubble bath for the soaking tub, garbage bags, a portable hammock for the yard, sleds that unfortunately we couldn't use (not enough snow), firewood, and more. The owners/managers obviously thought through what people would need and might not know or remember to bring, and there it was. Also, the cabin itself is really well made - unbelievably warm and well insulated, designed beautifully, nice appliances and cute details like the bear climbing the pole, and map of WV on the fireplace and the river rock soap dishes in the shower; a real "upsdcale rustic" experience. The location was terrific but we needed more time; we only made it to the waterfalls but they were well worth the drive from Atlanta - spectacular, and beautiful woods with patches on snow everywhere. All in all, a terrific place to stay and minimal driving distance to tons of outdoor activities. A few issues that didn't affect our enjoyment but should be mentioned in a complete review: lots of dead flies on the windowsills (no big deal, this is nature). Not really enough comfortable seating for 6 people in the living room. Also, the cabin in on a sort-of main road. We were there in the offseason and saw maybe one car per hour, but it might bother someone who wants to feel completely isolated. Thanks to the owners/managers for providing this super place to stay in a BEAUTIFUL, special part of the USA. West Virginia really is almost heaven.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We had an amazing vacation to probably the most beautiful area of West Virginia! We found the cabin fully furnished, immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and in a wonderful location! It was spacious, well equipped, cozy, and accessible to many wonderful parks, water falls, historical towns, plenty of breathtaking rides in the country, and our little dog loved the big yard to run around in. The owner gave excellent directions, and he was helpful in filling us in on where to buy grocries, and available if we should need him.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Our group of three adults and three children were very happy with this cabin. The cabin itself is charming, spacious, immaculate and is better equipped (right down to batteries) than my own home! Many of the items we brought such as paper products, were not necessary, as the cabin has everything you could think of. Honestly, it looks brand new inside and I've never stayed at a cleaner, better equipped place on vacation. We could not get the dishwasher to work for some reason. Also, the hot/cold water is inconsistent. You can get into the shower/tub and the water will go from warm to cold. A minor inconvenience for us though. The nearest, best grocery store is about ten minutes away in Marlington. There are two in town. I thought the one right down from the B.P. station had a much better selection (not the one across the bridge). Getting to the cabin involves a lot of winding roads and gas stations are very sparse the last thirty miles to the cabin, so plan ahead! The cabin is isolated in the sense that there is no shopping nearby. However, as far as the local attractions, it is in an ideal location. We thoroughly enjoyed the falls in the national park, scenic drive, bear park, Watoga State Park and Droop Mountain Battle Field. This area of West Virginia is very beautiful! In the evenings, we enjoyed grilling out on the back porch, sitting around the camp fire and listening/watching the sheep and cows on the hillside across the street. The communication booking the cabin was very smooth and the directions to the cabin were accurate. I certainly would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the mountains in West Virginia for a few days!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

My family of nature lovers had a wonderful stay at the Little Mountain Retreat! The cabin is both beautiful and clean! It's location is perfect for seeing the sights of Pocahontas County and has all the comforts of home. My kids especially loved the huge yard and fire pit out back. The owner was also very helpful with directions. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. I HIGHLY recommend this cabin!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

There is 5 of us guys that do what is called the annual MBA (Mt, Bike Adventure). We have always camped but this year we tried the LMR. Wow, we may never go back to camping. The location is perfect for mountain biking and hiking activities. The cabin is nicely layout out, fully furnished and clean throughout. Although the cabin is about 100 yards off of the road, we could not hear the local traffic noise. The ground floor bedrooms are a good size and the master bedroom is huge. The kitchen was nicely stocked and we got spoiled with having a refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. The clothes washer required a special detergent which was provided. Shower stall in the downstairs and a good old soaking in the up stairs bath. Back porch was a great place to store the bikes and still had plenty of room to socialize. We all liked the fire pit and the wood was provided however, we had to split what we used (that was not a problem). A some off the guys got alot of enjoyment with the horseshoes. Communication between myself and the owner was good and quick. Methods used were by phone and emails. All of us do highly recommend this cabin. Even our wives were impressed with the photos and video's that we took of the Little Mountain Retreat.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Three generatiions staying under one roof with snow and comfortable living space - what a Christmas gift. The property was exactly as depicted, clean, well equipped, and accessible despite the snow falls. Great location to cross-country ski - we suggest the Cranberry Wilderness trails. The hill by the cabin made a delightful sledding run. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit (bring your own wood supply). Nothing close by is open in the winter so come prepared!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, adventure seekers.

This is a truly a beautiful cabin. It was cozy, comfortable, and very clean. The location was perfect for our day trip to Babcock State Park, the New River Gorge, and Lewisburg. There is also a lot to see near the cabin but we ran out of time. We did visit the Falls of Hills Creek for a nice walk in the woods. Our dogs enjoyed their stay--I appreciate the cabin being dog friendly.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
