This was a great vacation home and everyone in our party enjoyed the home with all its amenities. place was clean and very well maintained. Steve was very helpful during the renting process and accomodating to work with. We will definitely be back again for another summer retreat, hopefully the next time, we will have better luck with the fishing.

This beautiful excursion was a short and calming drive away from the fast paced, stress inducing Twin Cities. The experience up at Big Sandy truly created some amazing memories for my wife and me. There were so many intricacies that made the experience all the more special, from the overall quality of the decor, to the amazing views of the lake through the vaulted ceiling/walls. The property is gorgeous and you truly feel secluded inside the confounds of the very private setting. The hot tub and sauna room is a must especially when it begins to get into the colder seasons. Most importantly, the owner Steve was ALWAYS accessible for anything we needed and further more always accommodating to any of our inquires! The overall experience was 10 times better than we could have expected....Renting a hotel suite compared to this?... Not even in the same ball park! Summer or winter, this place is a special getaway with owners that not only know how to build beautiful homes, but know how to give their guests unforgettable experiences. Thanks Steve and your family, for allowing us to have such a wonderful time, I am sure we will be back sometime again within the year. Happy New Year! Thanks again, for making our experience! Our group of friends have been visiting different cabins "up north" annually for eight years (and counting!). Yours had to be one of our favorites! The home was beautiful, and the location was perfect. There was plenty to do at the house, and on, and around the lake. We appreciated you personally showing us around the property upon arrival, and making sure we were all set. Thanks again!!!

I spent a week at Steve's cabin over Memorial Day weekend 2011. The cabin is the kind of quality you would expect from an executive rental. The kids loved the freedom they had around the property they were able to roam around the house, fish off the dock, pick apples off the trees in the front yard; etc. The dock was large enough for us to tie up our 24 ft boat, they had dock guards set up before we arrived making it very easy to tie up. I must also touch on the cleanliness of the cabin, this cabin was as clean as our family home so being a "germaphobe" even I was comfortable. We really enjoyed the fact that it didn't feel like we were staying in someone else's cabin which I imagine is difficult for the owners to create that sense of ownership for each of their guests - but they have done a fine job at this! I would recommend upgrading to the golf cart, I would be easily discouraged from walking back and forth from the lake to the cabin if say we forgot sun tan lotion in the cabin. I have recommended this cabin to several friends hoping they can experience and create similar family memories like we were able to! Thanks Steve! Jessica

I highly recommend Steve's home for anyone looking for a great time "up north" in Minnesota. The location is fantastic. The bay is perfect for boating, The convenience of having Big Sandy Lodge very close is also nice, so you can take advantage of their restaraunt, boat launch, etc. The home is very nice, with huge rooms and all the ammenities you would expect. We used the grill several times, enjoyed the big screen to view movies, and cooked s'mores in the fire pit. The sunset views were incredible as we watched them from the balcony and down on the beach. Steve is very thorough and was always available for questions. Don't hesitate to rent this one!

I just returned from a wonderful Vacation with my adult children and grandkids. A full cabin, but with plenty of room and activities. I've been going to Big Sandy since the 60's, and this trip was without a doubt one of the best times and absolutely the best accomodations i've ever spent time in. The place was spotless when we arrived, and Steve took his time to go over operation and procedures for all the amenities. All of the beds are very comfortable, and the amenities are outstanding. Once we got settled in, we all sat and just giggled at how beautiful the home and the grounds were. It is a bit of a walk to the beach, and some steps down to the water, but with the golf cart available, we had no trouble getting one disabled daughter onto the boat or on the beach. The property is located next to Big Sandy Resort, which on the weekends can get pretty busy. The resort did have live music on the Saturday we were there. While you could hear the band, it wasn't distracting at all. Wildlife is all over the area and on the property. Deer were seen virtually every day running through the yard and neighboring fields. Even a Snapping Turtle managed to make an appearance one morning... Bring insect repellent if you intend to be outside much, the mosquitos are fierce, and hide in the fields and the hillside to the lake during the day. If you go for much of a hike, you'll be glad you sprayed yourself with it. The Fishing Boat is ok for 2 people and served it's purpose well. We managed to get into a few large Northerns and even some very nice Walleye during our stay. The 'Party Barge' was a great time for all there, and while a bit 'intimidating' to the novice boater, was very easy to manuver and dock. Overall, Steve and Sherry were excellent hosts, even responding to our one 'emergency' when we accidentally locked ourselves out of one of the lower level Bedrooms, and have a beautiful fully equipped rental for families or small groups. I would heartily recommend this property to anyone thinking of visiting Big Sandy.

We stayed at this lake home in early June of 2011 and our family had a blast! I am an interior decorator by trade and I was very impressed. The owner picked out all kinds of interesting decor and we loved the fabrics as well as the furnishings. We had a group of 10 people and we had no shortage of room. This proved to be important because early June had record rainfall. So when it was unpleasant outside, our family spent time together in the sauna, hot tub, and watching movies on their 2 home theater systems. They had outdoor games, indoor games so we spent time together as a family. There was still plenty of time where the sky cleared during the unseasonably rainy week so we took advantage of spending time on Steve’s huge pontoon boat. Again, space wasn’t a concern on this deluxe pontoon. It was very easy to navigate. We fished off of the boat and caught our fair share of large Crappie fish. We had a couple of small problems and the owner immediately resolved them the same day. We loved it so much we are planning on booking again in 2012.

All the positive reviews are accurate. This property is VERY nice! The only thing I can add is that the owner ofis very good at communicating all along the way. If I email Steve, he always got back to us right away. We had two problems during our stay and they were solved right away. That is really important us. Sincerely, Jill from Fargo, ND

Our family decided to do something different so we stayed over Thanksgiving at this lake home with my brother and his family. The clincher for us was the internal sauna and hot tub! I also needed high speed Internet to keep up with work and I had a full cell phone signal throughout the house. Although we had 10 people in our group, there was plenty of area so we never felt cramped. We had a relaxing time playing games, watching movies, and reading a book under the covers. The neat part was that we were walking distance to a fantastic restaurant that we used for an evening nightcap. :) You can rent this with home with the knowledge that everything is as advertised. We couldn't have been happier! While we would definitely return, we plan on exploring another area and home next Thanksgiving. Thanks VRBO! W/R, Danna

Since we have been burnt before (like basements that smelled of intense mold or a bay that was FULL of tall weeds) we decided to check out several properties in person BEFORE we booked. That turned out to be a smart exersize because a few of them on Big Sandy had some "surprises"; I'll leave it at that... Independent of the surprises, a couple of them that were really nice turned out to be for sale and we booked out months in advance. They didn't tell us. We looked at this vacation home and we fell in love with the comfort and luxury. It rained 4 days. Having room to spare with a hot tub, sauna, lots of supplied games and 2 home theaters helped. As important, the owner (Steve) answered our emails right away and gave us all kinds of information about the area before we arrived. You cannot go wrong with this one. The fishing fall fishing was fantastic and my wife (a bird watcher) found plety to look at. Highly recomended.

Myself and 6 friends rented this property for a week and we had an incredibly wonderful time. There was enough room for all of us to have our own bed along with plenty of room to roam !! We had a little problem with the water sofner leaking which had caused a bit of flooding in the utility room upon our check-in, but the owner immediately jumped to solve the problem that evening and make the rest of our stay flawless. This home is everything it is advertised to be, and everything you need is right there, and then some ! There are a lot of extra's like the Hot Tub & Sauna and the use of the golf cart, which made navigating around the immense propery effortless. The owner of this property is a great guy and very easy to deal with. He helped make our trip smooth & easy. If you are looking for a place to stay for a week or more that is fully stocked with all the luxuries home, this is the place !!! Thanks again for the great week !!!

Well maintained home with all the furnishings you can want. We made good use of golf cart to and from boat dock, cooked many meals in well equipped kitchen. My group of 9 had plenty of room in this executive cabin on the shores of Big Sandy Lake. Lots of fun things to do in the area. I highly recommend this rental for a relaxing vacation in Minnesota. Be sure to rent the 25' pontoon as well, its easy to operate and makes for a fun time on the lake.

We spend a quiet week hunting with our Son's. The weather was perfect and there was no shortage of deer around the area. We saw 7 right on the property! This spot is 1st class! We loved the see through fireplace as well as the sauna and whirlpool. If you are looking for privacy with a unbelievable bay view, this one is worth considering.

We stayed and Steve and Sherry's lake home in early September of 2009 and we will re-booked in 2010. The pictures don't do it justice as we were very pleased with all of the amenities. We got a couple of windy cooler days so the hot tub and sauna warmed us up. There are so many places to eat on and around the lake. You won't get board on the water because it is such a large body of water with three rivers, many islands and several bays. The guys limited out on Crappie's three days in a row. We relaxed and enjoyed the views from this private retreat. Highly recommended!! Tanya

My family of 4 stayed in this beautiful, spacious home for a week in August 2009. We had fabulous weather for our vacation so we were able to thoroughly enjoy playing in the lake. However, if the weather hadn't cooperated, we would never have been bored at this home...the hot tub, sauna, and games galore would have kept my family entertained. We had a great time at this home and plan to return for another vacation!

We had our annual "girls weekend" at this lovely home and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The cabin and property were both beautiful. The views were stunning. The owners have most certainly have made this a place you'd want to return to again and again. Thank you for making your home available...it's much more than expected.

We stayed in cabin with two other couples for a get-away weekend in March 09. We were amazed at all the space. Very clean, well kept. Nicely decorated. Enjoyed the indoor sauna and hot tub. The cabin has a very private feel to it! Would love to return in the summer. Enjoyed all the little bar and grills in the area.

My family of 4 spent a week's summer vacation at this beautiful large lake home along with my parents and my 2 sisters and their spouses with plenty of room to spare. Most of our days were spent down at the lake which has a small private sandy beach area and in the evenings we enjoyed sunsets in the screened in porch and played games at the large dining room table. A very nice place to stay.

We would love to make another reservation for the same time next year and hopefully for years to come! We highly recommend this VRBO!

Steve asked if I would put some feedback on this site.... My wife and I spent a week in February playing in the snow. :) The trail system was fantastic especially in the Savannah State Park. There were no surprises. We needed a winter getaway simply to relax, snowmobile, and fish. The girls were happy just to relax in the hot tub and sauna. Steve was attentive to all of my questions. We plan on re-visiting next winter.
