This is a newly constructed, waterfront cottage that faces west on Barters Island. It features views of the the Sheepscot River, which is a tidal ocean tributary, and Westport Island. Gray heron, ducks, and working lobster boats are routinely observed from the front windows. The sunset views are excellent.
The inside of the cottage features pine paneling, skylights, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and hardwood floors. The three bedrooms and two bathrooms can accommodate up to six adults.
The property is ideal for BBQs and picnics while watching the water from the picnic table. The deck can accommodate several chairs and cocktail tables.
The property is located in the town of Boothbay and is very close to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the Boothbay Country Club, and downtown Boothbay Harbor. Two nature preserves belonging to the Boothbay Land Trust (BLT) are located on Barters Island, and several other BLT preserves are minutes away by car. The preserves are great for scenic hikes, many of which are along the water (the BLT Web site has more information on the preserves). In addition, the State of Maine Aquarium is located 5 minutes away by car (see link below).
The surrounding coastal towns, including Damariscotta, Wiscasset, Camden, Rockport and Rockland, are within a close drive.

This house is right on the water and a perfect spot to relax and watch the sunset. The house is spotless and roomy, with very comfortable beds. It is about 10 minutes from the heart of Boothbay's shopping district, where tasty restaurants abound! It is also 5 minutes from a beautiful botanical garden. Just a perfect place all around and we will definitely be back.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+.

This house was awesome! I thought it was even better than its description. The owner was great about answering all my questions (and I had many)! It was a perfect location for all we wanted to do in Maine. I would recommend Beautiful Sunsets to anyone. I hope we can go back someday. We loved Andrews Harborside Restaurant. I think we ate there three times in the week.

This place is beautiful, comfortable and very relaxing. The view from the deck or house is so peaceful yet always changing. I highly recommend this place. We brought my 90 year old aunt and she is the one who created the quote.... Best Vacation in 100 years.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house during the past summer. The location is convienient to downtown Boothbay Harbor, and the river views from the house--particularly those during the sunsets--are gorgeous. It was easy to relax when watching the water from the deck. The inside of the house was new, clean, and neat and was stocked with everything we needed. We look forward to returning.

We rented Gordon's Getaway the week of July 4th. It was our first time renting a house and we were not sure what to expect. Gordon's Getaway exceeded our expectations. Andrew was prompt to answer questions, give advice on best vantage point for viewing the fireworks, things to do with a 3 and 5 year old in the area, etc. The house was immaculate and had every amenity you could possibly need. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, knives, cookware, stainless appliances, etc. The view of the river/nightly sunset from the deck/great room was so peaceful and serene. If you are looking for a clean, quiet, relaxing destination, look no further.
