Relax after a day on the slopes in the outdoor hot tub on the back deck or warm up in front of the gas fireplace. Enjoy miles of hiking and mountain biking trails in the surrounding state parks, national forest, wilderness areas and wildlife refuge.
Guest have use of a community fishing pond and tennis courts. Guests of our unit also have access to Mirror Lake located at the rental office with fishing, swimming, canoeing and paddle boating.
The Canaan Valley area averages over 150 inches of natural snow in the winter. There are two downhill ski resorts, Canaan Valley and Timberline and one Nordic center, White Grass. There are miles and miles of trails in the parks and forests for cross country skiers as well.
Spring is a time for rebirth in the mountains. Take a wildflower walk or hike at the state parks and the wildlife refuge with an area naturalist. River rafting and kayaking is also a popular activity this time of year.
Summers average a cool 75 degrees! Mountain biking and hiking are popular summer activities. Blackwater Falls State Park is one of the most photographed state parks in all of West Virginia. Canaan Valley State Park has an outdoor pool and award winning 18 hole golf course. Fish the five forks of the Cheat River; the area is surrounded with pristine stocked trout streams.
Fall colors are spectacular; peak season is typically the second week of October. Come early for the leaf peepers festival in the historic town of Davis. The town of Elkins celebrates the Mountain State Forest Festival this time of year with live music, parades, a carnival and a host of other activities.
The area offers plentiful hiking and mountain biking trails, two state parks, scenic waterfalls, national forest, wildlife refuge, rock climbing, geo cashing, golf, tennis, fishing, swimming and more.
