This waterfront Chilmark home with spectacular views of Quitsa and Menemsha Ponds is the perfect family retreat. Located on five secluded acres, away from the main road, our 3,700 square foot vintage Vineyard Cape offers plenty of room for the whole family to relax.
The house has six bedrooms, four with queen beds and two with twin beds. Two bedrooms, including a large, gracious master bedroom with expansive views of Quitsa Pond, are located upstairs in the west wing of the house. A third large bedroom with a private bathroom is located in the east wing of the house. The three remaining bedrooms are in the central area and include two charming and cozy upstairs rooms, each with a new twin bed- perfect for two kids. The kitchen is next to an airy, screened-in eating porch, where you can dine on lobster purchased at the local fish market and local island corn and heirloom tomatoes from the twice weekly farmer’s market while watching the sunset - a quintessential Vineyard experience. A distinctively New England dining room with fireplace is available for more formal occasions or cooler evenings. The spacious living room easily provides plenty of comfortable seating for reading, board games or just enjoying the pond views. You'll love sipping morning coffee or an evening glass of wine on the large screened sitting porch, which offers more views of the tranquil setting.
Less than two miles from the Chilmark store, and close to the quaint fishing village of Menemsha with its charming shops and restaurants, the house is convenient to everything that summer on the Vineyard offers: beaches, swimming, fishing, surfing, kayaking. Passes are available for Chilmarks's beautiful Lucy Vincent and Squibnocket white sand beaches.
With a dock on Quitsa Pond, the house is a perfect launching site for kayaks (which can be rented and delivered to the house). Other types of boats are available for rental as well. Fishermen can catch supper of striped bass, bluefish, bonita, flounder and more in the Vineyard Sound, accessible from Quitsa Pond - and conveniently tie up the boat at the dock at the end of the day. Kids love diving and jumping off the dock to swim. Fresh paint, new linens and tasteful updates make your stay carefree and pleasant. Parking is unlimited.
