House is radiant heat, and electricity is solar. Extensive battery backup from the rural electricity grid.
Water is plentiful, safe, and triple filtered. No need to buy your own water; fill your bottles from the kitchen sink to take with you on your walks outdoors. It is instant hot water or cold -- whichever is needed.
Gated community, gate codes available as needed. Purpose of gates is to keep cows n horses IN plus provide privacy. The community is totally SAFE, no crime of any kind.
House has been described as "A DIAMOND IN THE DESERT." It is quiet and away from neighbors or other people. Perfect for folks who may want to build or buy in the High Mesas area. Great for retreats like yoga, WRITERS & PAINTERS or any activity where undisturbed nature is valued. It is so remote Google Maps cannot find it. Horseback riding is available close by.

- Mountain View: South view is to Cerro Pedernal, sacred SW Indian site. North view is red cliffs / Ghost Ranch property.
- Communications
- Cell Phone: Bring your own cell phone. Good cell phone coverage all thru house and miles around. Verizon / Alltel work best but some others work too. Bring your laptop with Skype which is best alternative if your cell service does not work well.
- WiFi (Wireless Internet): Wifi works throughout the house. Satellite based. Service is fastest satellite service available (faster than dial-up but slower than cable). (There are no cables in this part of NM).
- Other Amenities
- Swimming, fishing, motor boats and sailing permitted on lake. There is horseback riding next door!

Why the Owner Chose Abiquiu
I chose this "diamond in the desert" because my grandchhildren live in nearby Santa Fe. I live in Cambridge, Mass, and Casita Bonita is home when I visit Grandson Elijah and Granddaughter Ionie.
The Unique Benefits of this House
This house is supreme peace and tranquility. Even Google Maps cannot find us. There is horseback riding nearby. The only noise you will hear is an occasional Eagle's cry. Or maybe midnight coyote pups. If you are spiritually inclined, this home is your cathedral.
